Pony Corral / Re: Are these fake G4 Celestia & Nightmare Mooon figures?

Got my Pinkiecorn in the mail today. I imagine it won't be long before my house is plunged into chaos. :lookround:

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Her legs are bent in a little. I'm thinking it's from being shipped in a small padded envelope. Some boiling water should take care of it.

Very cute!  I love how these figures look but I can't come around to how they feel IRL.  I do love the Princess of Chaos though. Soooo............. WATCH OUT!!!!!

Pony Corral / Re: Archive of the FiM subforum?

I think the problem was that the presence of the FiM forum was continually attracting troublemakers :( So even banning them would just be a temporary fix.

It is a shame but honestly yeah, I'd rather lose one board than all of them.

This makes sense, and I agree. It's sad that we can't have a subforum and have everyone just be nice, but I understand about attracting troublemakers. FiM fandom is a strange phenomenon.

im eh about her herself, but i really REALLY want the playset that came with her. its so cute!! all those little beachy things.

Yes I'm exactly the same. When I saw her I was "meh"but oh my gosh those accessories are adorable and when you see her with them she sort of makes sense. I can totally imagine taking her to the actual beach.

Edit: I have not done the poll as I don't really want her on her own but really want her with accessories!

Wanted! / Wanted: MLP G1 Minty (ship to UK)
« on: September 11, 2017, 07:49:52 AM »
Does anyone have G1 Minty looking for a new home?

I'm in the UK and don't really want to pay international shipping so would prefer a Minty currently residing in Europe.

No pony cancer or drastic haircuts please but any other faults are fine (e.g. minor haircuts, rust, fading, pen marks, wear and tear etc)

She will be owned by an adult collector (me) but will get spa days, cuddles and hair styling and the chance to play from time to time with my 5 year old who has her own G1 collection.

My other CP ponies (Blossom, Cotton Candy, Snuzzle, Bow Tie and Blue Belle) are waiting to welcome her.

Thanks everyone, you're lovely.

Bluebelle arrived here yesterday, with lots of staining from previously wearing tack but haven't tried to get it off yet, hopefully it will come clean.  She also has crazy hair, not cut but bonkers, so I'm really looking forward to a spa day for her.

I am looking out for a Barnacle and a Nightglider, will let you know how I do!  Quarterback is completely dreamy, I would be sooo happy to find him.

Yes I seriously have to forget I ever saw the alternate birth ponies.  I'm not interested in any scented ponies, do not like that sort of thing.  I'm also a bit of a purist and don't much like the TE (creepy) or MGR (weird) ponies.

Pony Corral / Re: Restoring advice
« on: September 03, 2017, 02:14:38 PM »
Appreciate that toothpaste suggestion, it worked wonders on most ponies I"m cleaning up now. Minty cleaned up rather well, though Sugarberry's still got some minor dirty spots left. Nothing I did managed to clean her up completely, almost looks like smooze/pindots as described by mlppreservationproject.

Next question, when replacing a ponies metal tail components, how necessary is the washer? I've some spare rubber washers, though it doesn't look like the hair will move  a whole lot with a couple zip ties.

Glad to hear the toothpaste has worked well.

I don't think the washer is necessary unless the pony is going to subjected to some serious play.  The advice given to me recently when I was restoring Cinderposey was to position the tail so that the clamp is sideways on to the hole inside, so that it can't pull through too easily.  As long as the tail is still its original fullness the thickness of the hair will prevent it moving around.  I'm very pleased with Cinderposey minus washer (which I have kept in a safe place in case any future owner/collector wants her with original parts all intact).

Yes, the mold has a series of fakies, Princess Applejack being my favorite and one I actually sought out to buy.

Did you buy her? What did you think IRL? They do look very pretty (hence I bought them thinking they were real!) but it's when you touch and hold them that the quality issues are apparent.

So do you think there's like one person in China who has gotten hold of a Celestia mold and is churning them out? It's kind of interesting!

Do boy ponies count? In that case Barnacle might be one  for you? :) Hopscotch has some pink in her symbol but the rest of her is blue/ddark purple. Medley, while a pegasus, has a blue-green ish body, and Tuneful - unicorn - is blue :)
Coco Beryr (uni) if you get her with white hair... and yes definitely check the blue pony tab on Strawberry Reef like NightGliderSA posted! :)

You know what? For my *very first* G1 purchase (as an adult that is) I bought 3 ponies from an Etsy seller and she had a Barnacle and I loved him and nearly bought him, but I though, 'no, this is silly, I don't need *four* ponies' (little did I know).  And now it kills me because he was beautiful and a great price, and I haven't seen another one at an affordable price. Someone snapped him up within a couple of days.

I have looked at Strawberry Reef, thank you NightFliderSA. So many beautiful ponies!!!! I want all the blue ponies!!!! Come to me ponies!!!!

(I have Hopscotch, one of my favourites, adore her.)

We aren't going to be removing the discussion of FIM completely, just limiting it to a few threads that can be monitored better. Please be patient while we work on this  :)

Thanks Bekuno.  Working on my patience skills!

Right now they can all still get accessed, but I understand that some regulars are afraid they might just disappear.

I can't access them...?  Perhaps because I never contributed so don't have any links in 'my posts'?

Presumably they are still "there" but the mods have adjusted permissions so no one can see them anymore?

I'm surprised by how the removal of the subforum has affected me actually.  I am very new to collecting and to the forum but as well as being a very nostalgic and enthusiastic collector of G1, I have been loving watching FiM season one with my children (and alone!) and I'm feeling like maybe that isn't valid anymore? I didn't join any threads in the FiM forum but I liked reading it, and I liked reading it and seeing G1 collectors commenting on the show, and just knowing FiM fans were part of the community.  I feel like the FiM show is unwanted and by extension so are its fans.  I know it's more complicated than that but for example I wonder if people are judging me for my Pinkie Pie avatar? But obviously I understand this is primarily a collector's forum and so the current cartoon is kind of off topic (is that right??).  Confusing!!!!

Pffff the rays of light around the backside when there's no light-up feature. It's like, "Behold! A butt!"

Waaaahaha!

This is hilarious.

Yeah, it's totally weird having the symbols on one side only.  I can't believe it's a cost saving. There must be some other reason but no way can I imagine what it is.  Just weird.

I think they are fakies.  I bought a Celestia-mold Luna that has the same qualities you're describing, except she stands just fine.

Hmm, thank you Skeen.  I also just noticed Celestia's necklace has a chunk missing.

They both have a MLP logo on their lifted hoof but the quality of the finishing is appalling.

Regardless of whether or not they're kosher, I don't really want them in my house, so off to charity shop they go.
