It's a pony popularity contest, in single-elimination style tournament. If you are at all familiar with the website GameFAQs and their annual character battles, it is based on that. Arena members nominate their 10 favorite ponies. A list of 64 ponies is made and are put in groups of four. Each day, one group of four is put up in a poll and the Arena members vote for their favorite one in the group. The top two of each group move on to a future "race" and the bottom two are eliminated.

Eventually, you get down to just ONE pony who is voted the most of all. The contest part comes in where Arena members study the list and each group of four and attempt to predict who will be the winners of each race, and even the final winner who takes away all. I score them based on how accurate their predictions are.
