Anybody collecting Tangkou dolls
« on: November 08, 2013, 06:42:29 AM »
Hi doll lovers so here I am with a new thread wondering if any of you have been buying Tangkou dolls? And do you have pics? I just bought one on ebay, wondered if any fans of the dolls are on here.

For those that don't know what they are, they're similar in look to Pullip dolls but a heck of a lot cheaper (I will discover if that is a bad thing when I get my doll end of next week).

The one i ordered looks a bit 'Alice in Wonderland' style, I was going to order the Vampire but I didn't like her boots. And I wanted to buy one that has a nice outfit as a whole before branching out into buying clothes and accessories for them.

I hadn't heard of them till I read your post, went and looked them up, and wow they are cheaper! They are pretty neat looking too(not like I need another collection..shakes fist at Raven.. Lol j/k  :P ) I will have to keep my eye on these from what I can tell though they don't have many on the site, unless they have more on another, I will have to look around. I think it might be a good thing, I mean say your in need of a doll fix and can't really afford a pullip, these look like a good alternative so far :D yeah I know just trying to make good reasoning for my addiction lol.  :haha:

I know technically with MLP, MH and Ever After High I really don't need another collection but I've wanted a Pullip for ages but haven't got round to buying a doll that costs over £100 here. And then Tangkou dolls on ebay and thought ok I can't afford a Pullip but these look similar and aren't much more expensive than Monster High over here hehe.

I'm so bad, I've got monster high everywhere and heaven knows where this doll is gonna go but she looks awesome and you can change her eye colour

I've got one, I mainly got her out of curiosity though I don't intend to collect them. My hope it to do a full comparison between her and Pullip when I get some of that mythological free time stuff again.

They are really cute- I seem to remember a discussion at some point complaining about the quality of their stock, and having messed up hair coming out of the box-  but I think they would be perfect for customizations.

I have an Aussie and I adore her! Her stock with was atrocious but once I got her rewigged she became my favorite doll. I absolutely adore their head sculpt and even if it doesn't have the best posing, I think their body is just gorgeous. I'd wanted to get Italia or England and Vampire, but no one has Italia/England with the pink eyelids anymore. I still want another, but I'm not sure which one now.

I have one! Here's a close up:

Her hair is rooted a little weirdly and unevenly but it is soft and thick. Her stock was OK. Her eye mech sticks sometimes and her body is a little awkward compared to Pullip, but she doesn't sit around naked so it's OK. I think I do prefer Pullips overall because their faces are softer and their stock is much, much nicer (the ones I have anyway).

My doll is on the way to me, I'm excited.

Do you guys know if these guys fit in Pullip clothes?

I also want to get the Vampire doll. I didn't get it as my first Tangkou because I didn't like the look of the boots she comes with and didn't want to have to buy extras for my first doll. That and the fact that the one i've bought looks a bit like Alice.

I've seen Pullip and Blythe clothes on ebay lots. And I may possibly make some Alice in Wonderland related bits and bobs too (at some point not straight away).

It's mostly the shoes I'm interested in, if I can get nicer boots that fit I may get the Vampire for Christmas with my money off my Dad.

That link goes to a pretty good review & comparison of Tangkou Loli with Pullip & Blythe. Unfortunately Tangkou feet are bigger than Pullip & Blythe feet so stock shoes don't fit but other shoes made for Pullip & Blythe might work. It can be hit or miss. Boots usually do fine, and Ruby Red Galleria shoes fit pretty good.

Here's Bowie wearing a Barbie dress and Blythe boots found on ebay:

thanks for the links  Loli is the actual doll i'm getting  it was good to read about her and they are basically cheaper versions of Pullips and with cheaper price comes cheaper quality. But they still look pretty cool i'm watching a few on ebay atm. There are some Pullips as well that are cheaper than others but the delivery bumps it back up because i live in the UK and most of the cheaper ones are in America. I will get me a Pullip one day I like the look of the Alice Pullip could alter that pretty lady to make her Malice instead of just Alice hehe but she looks awesome.

I'm really excited Loli should be here later today or some time tomorrow just waiting on the courier but i got tracking which i check now and again for updates

I like Loli, her eyelids are cute and I like that she wears a wig that can be changed out. I think one of these days I'll get a second Tangkou; maybe a second hand one that I can customize.

She arrived if i get a chance i will take some pics later in the week. She's awesome. Though I've trimmed the wig far too much hair for my liking. But yep she's lovely she's been renamed Ellen (technically Alice Ellen but the passport thing says her sister's name is Alice so she's using her second name). I had to re-attach one of her feet but that was easy. The only fault i have is that her wrists arent that flexible but i can live with that, gonna decide which to get next now.

Do they all have wigs or are some rooted?

Some are rooted. The pink haired girls London & Italia are rooted, as well as Ms. China. France & Australia have fake fur wigs, I think the Vampire has a wig and maybe the new fairy girl with the horns. I really like her :) Not sure about the rest...

My girl Bowie (who is a Ms China) was missing a foot when I opened her up, but I found it in the packing material. Seems a common thing for them to loose a foot during shipping.
