Cherries jubilee plush?
« on: July 15, 2016, 12:22:00 AM »
Hello

Just wondering if anyone bought the cherries jubilee PJ case that was being sold by the delaneys?

I bid quite high but couldn't justify it after they couldn't prove its authenticity as a hasbro product when i asked.

Im desperate to know if it was genuine or not!

Thanks guys :)

It looked hand made to me, what with the eyes, yarn hair and no pics of the manufacturers label, she was really cute though!

Butternick made plush pony patterns in the 80s, so it could be homemade from that.

The patterns were for Moondancer, Starshine, and Blossom, but they could've used different color material to replicate any pony.  ;)  In form, the Butternick patterns looked like the "mouth closed" Hasbro Softies plushies.  IIRC the instructions did say to use yarn for the hair.

Oh thats neat i never knew that! I have a handmade vintage Starshine who is well made with a raised front leg, symbol & wings like starshine, eyes with eyelashes & yarn hair makes me wonder if Butternicks pattern was used to make her! :)

I think it was homemade or a knockoff.  It wouldn't have been too terribly hard for a seamstress of reasonable talent to recreate a pajama case using materials you can find in local fabric shops.  Looking at some of the larger pictures the stitching doesn't look like something a factory would turn out, but is more in line with someone hand-sewing a difficult area (the bottoms of the hooves especially).

Yep. not everyone needs a pattern. I suck at the assembly, but I know how to make a pattern. A friend used to pay me to draw out clothing patterns from pictures of antique dolls in their original clothing.

Same.  I have a pajama plush I had been meaning to study, lol!

I have a Blossom that my mom made for me from that pattern.  :good:  She has white yarn for hair and felt for her eyes and symbols.

I want to say that back in the day there was someone making custom plush ponies, and they did a really good job on them.  There were several ponies that were made and sold, but I really don't remember what ponies specifically.  They were pricey then, so I wouldn't be surprised if they still were.  They were well made.
Thanks to Whippetluv for my awsome persona pony!!

I bought it - I have the other 3 and was so excited by this one. (frustrated it got bid up in the last few minutes lol, but glad I won it)
she has a tag!!! :) she's real! ok, so I don't know if she's "real" or a fakie (it's a different tag than bowtie, cotton candy, and trickles)
CE (stands for Conformité Européenne. )
it’s a logo that shows that products have met the requirements of the European Union (EU). and has been around since 1985

(DE2 4LG is a postal code no longer in use, which tells me it is vintage - plus the delaneys probably bought it ages and ages ago)

the bottom of the hooves are *very* well done - it's a different fabric under them, so maybe that's what made it look weird in pics? (I only saw the 1 picture, so I'm not sure what larger pics skeen mentioned) there are NO issues with any of her seams or any wonky areas

(try not to crush my dream too badly if you all think she's fake as it's still a pinch on my wallet  :P but at least she's super adorable)
IMO she's not handmade

pics?? is she also snap on the bottom? does she have the same tag?
if there's more than one like this...who knows? *wishful thinking*

I will take some pics but on better look yours looks better done and considering it has a tag perhaps it could be real. Could you take some more pics? Thanks xz
