Stained/dirty hair?
« on: January 24, 2016, 09:59:48 AM »
Hi everyone! My big sister gave me a lot of gorgeous early g1 ponies for my birthday recently, but sadly a couple of them had what appears to be sticky magic marker on their bodies and in their hair. A Mr. Clean magic eraser took most off their bodies, and several washes got most of the stuff out of the hair... Poor Medley and Parasol still have remnants of it visible in their hair and I'm not sure what to try next. So far I've used shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, and dish soap which I have used to strip my own hair of punky colors... Still no luck. What would you all reccomend?

Depends on the marker ink - acetone, isopropyl alcohol, hairspray, all are solvents that should help!

Goo Gone 2 is formulated for paint - try that if you can find it!

I've had success removing paint residue from hair with rubbing alcohol before :)

Oooh! Nice pressies :)

Unfortunately depending on what was used, the hair may actually have been dyed. Because of its features it can be near impossible to shift. I would recommend testing the hair first before using it but I have had success with rubbing alcohol on hair (soaking the hair in it). But it really depends what has caused the staining.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Never use nail polish remover on watercolor baby sea pony hair. The hair strands will melt together!

Maybe try baking soda? I think I've seen members on the forum talking about using it to get rid of staining and whitening purposes before. My thoughts would be to mix some just with a enough water to make it the consistency of a conditioner and gently massage it through the hair. I haven't actually tried it myself before, though I plan to give it a shot here soon. Maybe if another member can vouch if its safe on pony hair or not?

Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions. I'm going to try rubbing alcohol then baking soda.
