Hasbro Making Mischief...Volume II.

So a while ago I posted about variations in Baby Mischief, and how, randomly, they all ended up coming to me somehow.

So that was then, and then there were four.

At ponycon, I got the HK version, thus thinking I had completed the set.

I was wrong.

So here is the second edition of Mischief magic.

On the back row we have (all made in China), - Gold tinsel in mane and tail, gold tinsel in mane, rainbow tinsel in tail, and the new addition, gold tinsel in tail, rainbow tinsel in mane.

On the front row we have - Made in HK (rainbow tinsel), NC (rainbow tinsel) and Made in China (rainbow tinsel).

Does anyone know if there are any others out there O.o. For example, gold tinsel only HK or NC versions?

What the heck were Hasbro even thinking ?!

The seller I got the newest addition from said he'd sold an Explorer with all gold tinsel to someone in the States recently (maybe someone on here?) If so, that means the potential for there being MANY more of these, rather than just HK/NC/China versions...is quite high.

Does anyone have any of them? Any Mischiefs I don't have? How far does Hasbro's madness go with the Starlight Babies??

Clearly Hasbro also loved them...



And kept remaking them o.O.

I don't know where my ponycon HK one originated from in terms of sale - the NC and the China rainbow tinsel ones both originated from childhood UK collections (one from a carboot and the other from ebay). I haven't yet found a gold tinsel variation from the UK = they all seem to come from Germany...

Mine has gold only tinsel. I think I'd like to swap for rainbow though. She never looks that nice to me. Great photo thank you!

Nice!  I never noticed that there were different versions of her.  Is that the same for all the starlight babies?

I'll take a look at mine... I didn't think to ever check the tinsel colour!

My Baby Stella is China, rainbow tinsel in both mane and tail...

There are definitely NC, HK and China versions for all of them I think, though I haven't found one with gold tinsel only yet that wasn't made in China. My own Explorer is HK, rather than China, actually, I think...

China is most usual though I think; most ponies sold in Europe around 1991 were made in China.

I didn't know for sure the gold tinsel variant existed on the others but having seen a picture of a gold tinsel Explorer, it now makes me think there maybe ones for Stella and Night Song as well..and, perhaps, mismatched ones too...

I checked my Baby Night Song. She was Rainbow tinsel in her mane and tail and is made in Hong Kong.

Wow, how odd... I wonder if they just used the various types of tinsel at random and didn't pay attention to what color they were using. Like if I had blue paper and white paper and sometimes I would put the blue in my printer and sometimes the white, but never actually paid attention to which color I was using (does that simile make sense?).

You do wonder. Especially with the mismatches. With the gold tinsel, you can assume a batch where they ran out...but...*shrug*.

Does this ever happen with any other ponies? Baby Princess Sparkle has rainbow tinsel...are there ever gold-only tinsel versions of her? She and Night Song are not that different in basic appearance and would've been out around the same kind of time, so it does make me wonder.
