Any market for prize ponies?
« on: September 03, 2013, 05:18:58 PM »
We all know prize ponies are like the plague... even when you pass them up at a flea market, somehow when you get home, you have even more of them than you remembered you had... and they are everywhere!

Are there any market for these prize ponies - obviously I'm talking about US McDonalds Happy Meal ponies - as of course, people in the US really want OTHER countries prize ponies, but... no one wants ours? What do ya'll think is the best way to deal with prize ponies? Or "selling" them?

I just have no idea what to do with a giant bucket of these G3, G3.5 and G4 prize ponies!! :freak:

I wonder the same thing.  That's all I seem to find at garage sales and flea markets.  Hathorcat mentioned a $2 price point for the g4 MD toys in another post but I'm not sure how many people are searching for these.

I'll include them as "extras" if I have any when someone buys ponies from me ;)  Or during swaps, I'll toss in one.

I do the same, Pops... send them along when it's applicable...

Perhaps selling them in small groups on eBay or something could move them? I just feel like... I've tried to customize them, and I do like doing that, but I have FAR MORE prize ponies than I could ever have time to customize...

Can you even customize the G4 McDonalds ponies? I don't know if you can get rid of their tails?

Try posting about them in the Custom Sales forum. People like them for baits.
I'll put something here some time

Not a bad idea... ^.^

I know some people drill off the tails and insert their own tail holes and end up selling them for more but, I don't know if I have those skills, lol...

I tend to include 1 as a freebie thank you when people buy my ponies.  Buyers really seem to like it (or at least not complain ).  I especially like it if I can match the prize pony with their purchase somehow (same pony or theme or colors).

However, I'm not out any money when I do that b/c I don't purposefully buy prize ponies, so I don't worry about getting anything back. Maybe some people customize them?

Oops  Just saw this reply after I posted my own- sorry for the repeat!

I should start doing this, but honestly - the first I'd like to get rid of are my G3.5s and I feel like sometimes er... how do I say this without insulting G3.5s... but I feel like people are... "insulted" that I sent that, lmao... I just can't have them clogging up my house like this though!

I've customized a G3 one before. I took off her tail and gave her a real one. But it can be a lot of work so I've only done the one.

I have a whole box full of them myself that I need to get rid of somehow. Maybe sending them along with pony purchases is the way to go. :/

The only prize ponies I'm interested in at the moment are those darn Quick Rarity and blue tailed Celestia figures that keep eluding me! :P

See this is the problem for US people too, most are only looking for things from outside the US (even though I know you're not in the US Sarah-Bee, I'm just saying, I feel the same way - was lucky enough to get Quick Twilight but, none of the other country Prize ponies yet!)

As soon as I'm buying again I might be interested, not many fellow UK pony-people seem to be overly interested in Prize Ponies at all though.

So, were the US Prize ponies also released at McDonalds in Europe?

Nice to know! :) well that's kinda funny to me then especially because the G3s, at least in my opinion, are pretty adorable from McDonalds... I guess that makes me a bit more surprised that more international buyers wouldn't want them,... I just assumed they shipped them to McDonalds everywhere, and that's why they weren't very sough after.
