Title: My Metal Pony? MetalEarths Opinions?
Post by: WingsOfMasquerade on February 20, 2018, 10:50:30 PM
What do you think of metal ponies?
These Metal Earths' are real steel ponies.

Has there EVER been anything MLP that's "all metal" before?
I can't think of anything. Sure stuff has metal parts, but I don't think all metal? (It would be an interesting bit of trivia.)

I think these are a curious idea.
It's good because they'll never fade, get mold, regrind or 'go bad' the way a plastic toy might.
It's not so good because they look kind of boxy due to construction and the faces are a bit odd?

Because these are all 'real steel', it also got me to thinking I wonder how it feels keeping them in hand? Like G1 has appealing squishiness sometimes, and a good size for hand holding. G4 blindbag is fun to scoop up handfuls of. But metal ponies with square edges? I'm curious. It seems like they're trying to branch G4 out into as many strange directions as possible with foam loafs, bobble head sphere plushes, those terrible RADZ balls, little-bigheads-fashems, Cutie Crew Kitty Ponies, and EQGs where they're human. I guess now they can be metal slices too?

Will you get them?
What do you think of this new idea?

I think if the price is ok, I'd consider investigating one. Or if they do Luna.

I love Metal Earth kits but these look relatively tacky. I wouldn't but them. Most of their kits have little to no color, it's usually all in the details. Those look neither like an accurate metal model nor like quality pony merchandise.

They're also not usually marketed to kids (unless they enjoy building intricate models) and are kind of fragile to handle.

Yeah, I've had several of the other kits and I agree with the above. These are not as cool as, say, the dinosaurs they have.

They are fragile and the edges are pretty sharp.

They're kinda neat I guess. I'm not really sure who they think will buy these though, I can't see them as being good for kids and I don't know how many adult collectors, bronies or not, will really want to invest in these. I personally have ZERO interest in these guys though, I bought some sort of metal earth kit at Disneyland ( I think it was metal earth, it was a similar concept!) and it was so tiny and fragile I never got it together, too many of the pieces just snapped. I also got a few minor cuts from it, which isn't a huge deal, but it could have been designed with much more care. It was a huge waste of money, and although these look much less complicated I just have no desire to buy anything like it again.

They are not appealing to me at all, on top of looking like they would fall about if you sneezed at them.

I think they look amazing, like robot ponies.

I think they look pretty neat, I'd like to get one or two eventually.

They look cool but are missing something at the same time. I'll have to put one together myself before I can have a certain opinion for sure.
Does anyone know how much these might retail for? $5? 10?
