What would you change?
A question I thought would be fun. Love a pony's colourscheme but not their symbol? Love their beautiful mane but it's stuck on a pose/pony race you don't care for? Has a lackluster name? Has a darned gimmick you just can't stand?
Just be sure to list ONE thing per pony, it's kind of like a "this pony would be my favourite ever but I have this one nitpick!" and not a "I really don't like this pony, this is what they should have done..."
Anyway, to start off: Thanks to the current white pony picture thread, I just dicovered G3 Breezie. I love white bodied ponies, and her CM is so adorable...but that mane colour. :poke: It's boring to me to a have a white pony with pale blonde hair in a line that is all about fantasy colours. I think she would look cuter with a green mane matching her CM colour instead.

Pink Sunsparkle: She's cute, and was my first G3 baby, but her name is utterly ridiculous. Just Sunsparkle would be fine.
I adore Waterfire but wish she didn't have an open mouth.
I wish Paradise had a non-so soft release.
I wish Mimic would choose a color: white yellow, or green, not an unappealing in-between.
P.S. Glad to see the white pony thread is spreading some pony love.

I know this goes against G1 conventions and that 2-toned mane tends to be for unicorns only, but I would love Scrumptious to have a red streak on her mane to make her look more like watermelon

I would love Mimic to be in a different pose... She would look great in Moonstone's pose IMO. Or indeed any pose that isn't her own. Any.

I'd LOVE unicorns in TWAF Dancing Butterfly's pose. Can you imagine the adorable-ness!? <3 Also I'd like a Lofty that's not SS. ^__^

Seconding regular Paradise. Also baby Lofty and Baby Shady in regular release, and Ribbon and Lofty likewise.
Would also have liked to see Medley in Surprise's pose, like they did Firefly.
Speaking of poses, I would have loved a shy pose Bubbles and Seashell. I never liked the sitting down pose.

I would've loved to see an NSS version of Twilight, maintaining that full-on deep purple body colour. I know there's always the option of deflocking a mucky one but I'd be too afraid of making a complete mess of it!
Also in regard to the MGR ponies, I would've liked to see Sparkler in a different pose. She has a gorgeous design overall but that pose just puts me off. :/

The POTD reminded me of another thing.
There are a lot of ponies with different names in the US and the UK. Obviously as a UK person I'd like to change them all to UK names (lol) but realistically I'd like to change all the repeated names in the US to the UK equivalents (so MM Cuddles = Teddi, MM Windy = Magical Breeze, etc) so they all have their own identity. To the same token, I'd prefer Molasses to be adopted as the universal name for that Candy Cane pony although in the UK she was 'Gingerbread'.
I'd also like to do something about the names of the Tropical Ponies and the Rainbow Curl ponies in the US. LAW will probably come drag me away in a minute, but Hula Hula doesn't make sense for the unicorn and should be the earth pony with the palm trees. Sail Away for the unicorn. Summer Heatwave for the yellow pony and Surfing Days for the orange pegasus (because Tootie Tails is silly and Sea Breeze is a repeated name). Of course Pina Colada could be used for the unicorn although that possibly, with her symbol, promotes drink sailing, so maybe not? ;)
I'd like to utterly banish the names Streaky, Stripes, Ringlet and Raincurl because they sound invented by a six year old and don't represent the beautiful ponies they connect to. The UK names all have Rainbow tacked in front which is jerky and repetitive. Although I always liked Rainbow Magic as a name, I'd like to basically at least rename them all with the second part of the UK name - Streaky = Rider, Stripes = Storyteller, Ringlet = Magic and Raincurl = Cloud.
Also genuinely think Hasbro could have done better with Hippety Hop and Skippety Doo as names. Not to mention later generation Tinkatinkatoo, Twistaloo...Honaluloo...etc.

I'd honestly prefer it if G1 Parasol was a unicorn, don't really know why just I'd love to see a unicorn Parasol then again she'd probably look a lot like G3 Rarity if that were to ever happen...

I would like to change a little G3/G3.5 Sweetie Belle's hair. I've never liked that she has a light pink lock of hair in the cartoon that in the toys is a dark pink, I would love if she had that little lock of hair a pastel pink color instead of dark pink.

In general, having ponies irl match their cartoon counterparts sounds like a good idea.

I wish the g4 line had muzzles.

I love Waterfire so much, the colors and shimmery tinsel are just amazing on her. I wish she was literally any other pose though, because the Waterfire Pose is probably my least favorite in all of G3.

Here, here! My main gripe was the mouth, but a different pose would be nice, as long as she doesn't look shy.

Hmm, Cherries Jubilee in a different pose. She has such pretty colors but like many I'm not a fan of her pose, poor thing.

Fave g1 poses: Gusty, Posey stride, Buttons
My own invented perfect pose - a cross between: shy , surprise, Gusty + Buttons pose i.e. turned head, elevated hooves. :cool:
Not a fan of the pose used by g1 Cherries Jubilee/Tootsie/Snowflake etc they would look great in a different pose.
Sunbeam/Moondancer - the pose is not *quite* right, the bit where the front and rear legs meet by the tummy always looks clumsy to me.
Honeycomb - make a unicorn variant to match the erroneous fact files! :lol: :inlove: :inlove: I have yet to attempt this, but, one day... :P

Love reading through everyone's diverse opinions. Seems the majority is all about changing around poses; maybe early G4s did something right by forcing one static pose, but then the complaint is that there is no pose diversity.... :lol:
Another recent discovery: Decided to draw her, and led me to notice G1 Butterscotch's symbol are butterflies??? What? So random. I wonder what she would look like with something more fitting to her name? G3 Butterscotch's CM is pretty cute, so 7 repeated lollipops maybe?
And on the topic, while I like Blue belle's stars, I can't help but wonder what she would look like with bells instead.

Give Minty some mints, Cotton Candy some cotton candy..... Not that G1 names have to be related to their symbols, but they should at least make sense. Cotton Candy's is just dots.
Then again, if they were named before getting their symbols, like Ember, it would make sense. I feel sorry for ponies with obviously baby themed name/symbol.

Cotton Candy as a term doesn't really mean anything in the UK (we call it Candyfloss) so I never really thought about her spots as anything particularly growing up. Butterscotch's symbol seems a bit like a bad joke though ;)
On the subject of symbols - Starflower needs her star flowers back. Not just stars, Hasbro. Star FLOWERS. Like ALL the promotional artwork -.-.
I am not bothered about pony symbols being tied to their names. I mean, think about Bouquet. :P I just like the idea of ponies who are always drawn with a particular symbol actually being sold with that symbol.
On which note, Player and Songster need wings and Singing Pocket (Sweet Pocket) a unicorn horn. ;)
Cherries Jubilee's pose annoyed me for the whole of my childhood. Then I started writing stories about her, Magic Star and Paradise and suddenly it didn't bother me any more. Weird that. I wouldn't change her now.
(@Glitterball - Factfile Honeycomb ftw. Someone has made one you know. I've seen some pretty pictures online :D) Really also need factfile Minty in purple, preferably in the walking pose she's drawn in!)

I’d love to see G1 Rosette in a different pose. The Tootsie pose is horrid. The shy pose would be wonderful, but really any other pose would do. Of all the ponies ruined by the Tootsie pose, Rosette was the one that had the most potential to be amazing. Those colors!
I’d like all the TAF babies to match their parent’s type. Why is Baby Milkyway a pegasus?

I love Snuzzle, but I wish she were on a different pose. Wouldn't she look adorable on the Bubbles or Bowtie pose? :lovey:
I wish Starsong had normal wings.
I wish Water Cutie Celestia had a full, thick mane and tail.
I wish Mer-Rainbowdash wasn't on the reboot pose.
I wish Songbird Serenade weren't on the reboot pose. Especially the open mouthed one.
I wish Lily Lightly and Brights Brightly were in the Whistle Wishes pose.
I wish Aurora Mist, Thistle Whistle and Island Delight were on the Silver Glow pose.

I wish the second wave of G1 Princess Ponies didn't have the tinsel "forelocks."
I wish G3 Silver Rain had a better, more theme-appropriate symbol.
I wish G1 Moondancer and Sunbeam were in a nicer pose. I don't hate their pose, but I do think they deserved better.

As a kid who grew up mostly without the influence of the cartoon series, I see it the other way around. Cartoon series should make better attempt to represent toy product in my opinion. But then I guess I would like to see some ponies looking more like they did in the comic (as those drawings were based on prototype images) so maybe it's the same thing. In any case, I don't really want any five legged baby ponies or unicorns with opposable thumbs any time soon, so I'll pass on the show-accurate G1s ;)

It could go either way. I was annoyed when watching episodes about ponies I have, and on screen they had different colors. Bushwoolies looked cuter, Salty looked darker, etc.

I never really had any attachment to the animation. There are too many differences between the release/pony lore in the UK and those episodes - names, ponies that weren't released, even personalities etc - beyond the basics of how they're animated. I think that I noticed less than the others.
I only had four episodes for most of my childhood mind you, but I was always really irritated by the name 'Sweet Stuff'. I just assumed as a kid that whoever made the animation didn't know MLP well enough to know her name was Sweetie, so I kind of disregarded it as being a 'proper' pony story (unlike the comics).
I had NO idea Sweet Stuff was her correct US name because in the 1980s there wasn't any kind of information like that available to a six year old british kid xD. Even as a kid that annoyed me more than the fact the Twinkle Eyes didn't have exactly accurate colour order in their hair at all times in that episode. I like the episode. I watched it a lot. But I would have liked it more if she'd been called Sweetie.
But of course this is all personal opinion xD. We all have our own perspectives depending on what the big pony influences were or are on us ;)

I'd also change Tootsie and TAF Buttons' body colors. I like green . . . but not pea-soup green.

I like the So Softs but would echo this, because they should all have a so soft version and a regular version. O.O. That way people can choose. Also Paradise would exist and I could have an army without having to deal with deflocking :P (#selfish reasons)

I know. I am lucky enough to have one, but I still would love a HK one, because we were meant to have one in the UK and then she never got released. So yeah. It would be nice to have one that isn't Nirvana ;) Plus Brazilian paradise is way too expensive to have an army of O.O.

I wish they didn't give so many of the G1 orange ponies lt pink, magenta, or lavender hair it just looks...off...to me. I mean look at G3 Wishawhirl, Pumpkin Tart and Seascape and how gorgeous the darker colors were! (Of course a lot of G3s had the dreaded hair colors too, ugh)

I would change SS Ribbon's neon yellow-green mane to something more gentle, maybe like a pastel mint or aqua.

I wish they did not make the G2 Magic motion ponies with moving body parts. It leads to awful discoloration..

I’d give Moondancer (G1) a different pose. Probably Button’s pose. I love everything about Moondancer, except for her pose!

Anything in the mimic or tootsie pose in a different pose would be lovely. Buttons & Quacker poses I wish stood better
