Title: who is this pony??
Post by: orangepeachmango on May 21, 2017, 01:31:29 PM
i was browsing through my bait box, looking for somebody to customize for fun, and i came across this stripped (who i thought was) sundance. but to my surprise, she has no country marking! does this mean she is from Spain, if i gathered the info from the wiki right?

i thought, cool! i have a spanish sundance! (even tho she has no hair or cutie mark...)
but then when i went to mark where im going to put in hair, i found dual-color mane hash marks (made by the manufactures to mark when to change colors), and to my knowledge, sundance only has one mane color, yes?

i thought it might just be a factory thing to put it on all of them, but after investigating my other single-color g1s, that is not the case. who was this pony??! any help identifying her would be great!

I can say for a fact sundance only has pink hair, I have her in TAF, baby BBE, and flocked.

I immediately thought 'Sundance' but that is odd with those marks. I have some NC Sundances among my sales ponies. I'm not able to check them now but I'll try to remember and check them tomorrow to see if they have those marks despite only having one hair color.

My NC Sundance has those split colour marks in her mane. I guess it's there in the mold because there are rainbow ponies made from the same mold (parasol and sunlight) :)
I can sort pictures if you want tomorrow ^^

Twice as Fancy Sundance has two hair colors.  The pink stripes and the color changing thermal stripe.  I don't know anything about hoof marks though.  Good luck! :)

yes this version has more than one hair color but I don't know if they made their way to Spain...

As Shaiyeh says, it could just be from the particular year, as Rainbow Ponies also have the same poses.  If she has an identical one, that would be the answer I think.

I checked my NC Sundances and they all have those marks so I think it's like Shaiyeh said - it's the mold.
Btw, Twice as Fancy Sundance is in a different pose.

Thank you for checking! That solves one mystery!
Since she's NC, is there no way of knowing where she's from? Is she most likely from Spain, or could she be from somewhere else?

There are a few more countries that did no country marking (I believe Greece and some South American countries?), but you can clearly tell if a pony is from one of those countries as they look different with paint jobs on eyes and symbols, hair quality and even vinyl quality sometimes. Spanish ponies tend to look like any other regular release pony, but sometimes with black instead of brown eyeliner (big brother and TEs specifically I think have this difference, as well as baby Lemon Drop), sometimes a bit different hair colour shade or symbols, or other colour accessories.

NC Sundance is quite a common pony in Europe, much like Italian Peachy :)

And to tie back in with the topic - I am pretty sure, like I said, that this has to do with the mold. My Italian AJ and Bowtie have the same markings ^^

ETA: I can see now photobucket quite butchered the image quality (as well as super grainy pictures because stupid high ISO - should have done this while the sun was up lol) but if you squint, you can see the marks xD I swear, they're there :silly:

It's possible she's a SS sundance that's been deflocked, because I have one that I've had to remove the fuzz on who has no country marking just like yours

thank you so much for the pics, shaiyah!
ill juts go ahead and assume shes a spanish sundance then, since she has no other extraneous features besides no county mark and hair hashes.

thank you all for your help!

In the situation of NC Sundance. I do not think saying she is Spanish is accurate. Her eyes should tell the story. NC Sundance came with UK Megan.

Based on eyes the straight hair one may be a Spanish one? - image from My little Wiki.
