Title: G1 Accessory Pics needed for a website - New Combs and Brushes needed :)

I've finished adding all my Playset and Pony Wear pictures but there are still some gaps I'd like to fill.
My next job is the brushes and combs!
I have a Facebook group set up to help with identifying images and for help on specific shades of accessories - If you'd like to help please PM me and I'll give you the group address.

I'm in the process of creating a website for G1 accessories. I've been busy photographing all my accessories for the last month or so but I don't have a complete collection so I'm hoping other collectors can help me fill the gaps.

I'll give full image credit. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me :) Even if you can only help with one image I'd love to hear from you.

I will only use images with permission from the owner

If you already have images up online you can just direct me to a place I can download them and I'll do the rest. If you don't have pics but would be willing to take some get in touch too :)

Ok, it's awesome that you want to do this, but I have to ask, why have you decided to make this website when we have the wiki? I'm pretty sure most of these will probably have pictures there already, which is why I ask. :blink:

I do love the wiki but I personally find it a bit too all encompassing, if you know what I mean.
What I'm planning is for a focus on accessories with detailed comparisons of shades and colours with images close together. So what I've done is taken photos under the same lighting conditions and camera settings.
It'll be for the more picky accessory collector.

I will be planning to offer my own photos to the Wiki to fill any gaps I can too. I'm not planning to replace the Wiki for accessories in any way but I'd like to do something slightly different. I think there's space for both :)

I totally agree.  I really feel there is a need in the variations of color on accessories with better photos.  This will be very helpful to those of us who are major purest collectors and want the exact accessory we need for what we are trying to complete with our pony collection.  Fantastic.  I can't wait to see it finished. I know doing a website like this is a lot of work but, we sure appreciate having the references.  I am one that uses all my resources not just one when looking for things as well as, details on items.

I like the idea of having an accessory site too! The wiki is AWESOME but there's no saying we can't have multiple sites for these kind of things :) the comparison of the kitties is great! I knew there were variations of at least one of the dogs (Brandy? I think? I get the dogs mixed up ^^;) but I had no idea there were variants of the cats! Interested to see more :)

I think a site with better comparison photos would be awesome too!  I know I've really struggled with IDing some of my brushes and combs especially so that type of ID site would be a great help.  You're welcome to any of the photos I've donated to the wiki and I can try to get a couple of the comparison photos you mentioned.

Thanks! They are so tiny that it's been hard to take good photos of them :blush:

Oh boy, I now remember that I had trouble identifying these too.  All of these are from my childhood collection and I'm not missing any of the US released ones so it's just a matter of differentiating between shades.  I had to guess on a couple of pinks and yellows.

I have one of the one on the far left.  The next two are switched in the different pics but I have two of each of them.  The fourth I have one of (I have that one assigned to Glider at the moment).  I have four of the lightest one on the far right (currently assigned to Jangles & Tangles and Sticky & Sniffles).

Yellows:

The lightest yellow on the left matches Lickety-Split's high chair so I have it assigned to her.  The next one I have 3 of.  The third is noticeably brighter and I have two of that one.  The last is of course Racer's dark yellow.




If you would like any adjustments to the comparison photos just let me know and I'll retake them.  I do have Satin N Lace's outfit donated to the wiki (dress, veil, and garter) but I don't have any of the other wedding outfits to make comparisons with.  I may have a couple of other things from a couple of lots I got more recently - I'll have to check.

Glad they help.  I did double check to see if there were any other ponies that came with spoons that I didn't have, and the only ones were the Teeny Tiny Twins and the Princess Baby Buggy (my childhood collection stopped after Year 7).  I'll be very interested in learning what you discover regarding the different shades.

Chrissytree, I don't think I or the Scrapbook have anything you need on your list but if you see anything on there that you want to use, so long as it's my image and not donated to me, feel free to use it. I don't mind but would appreciate a note and a link back if you do :) normal procedure. You've given me enough help in the past that if I can give any help back, I'm more than willing :)

 I am back and forth a lot too but if and when you get to combs/brushes if I have a MIP image that's good enough quality then I will try to help out (esp with ponies like Tic Tac Toe, above, where there is a definite variation on accessory that can be proven). I don't have a million MIP but I do have quite a few from the UK/Europe.

P.S - I have a snowball that came with my Kiss Curl's parlour (which is made in Spain) that looks more like your "Catnip" image I think than your "snowball" one, but I don't think she's either and I think she's a second version in the UK. Bearing in mind the variations all around Kiss Curl/symbol/HK and China etc, I think it makes sense. There ARE pictures of her on the Scrapbook if you need them.

Thank you, I enjoy exploring the Scrapbook so that'll give me another excuse :) I'll check that Snowball/Catnip one - I haven't finished looking for variations yet! That was a WIP pic. Which reminds me, I have a pic of a MWB Baby Lemondrop and Stroller which I've been meaning to send to you :) If you have use of any of my accessory images feel free to do the same :) I'd love to see MIP pics. I'll get in touch when I've moved on to that.

I'm very keen on highlighting differences between countries and regions - and I had spotted the Tic-Tac-Toe difference :) I've got UK ponies from childhood but also want to collect other country variations so I'd like for the site to be as complete for everyone as possible. We're a global community so I'd love to represent what everyone might have got as a child.

This is a bit of an experimental process. I've taken MOC/MIB photos and copied a sample of the colour of both the spoon and the pony - so I can tell if the colour is going to be completely off due to lighting etc.
The first column is the spoon colour, second is from my original accessories or ones I know for sure, third is the pony.
Some of these are very off but others are pretty close. Anyway lmk what you think

I do have them and actually took some pictures for my own reference while I was taking the others for you.  As for Pink Dreams, mine came with the clear wing tabs like the second set flutters.

Pink Dreams here had those wings, too. She was one of the ponies sold at market stalls in the grey labelled bags, but she came with her wings on a piece of white card and mine definitely had clear tabs to fit the 2nd year sockets.

Ok, when I get home I'll dig them out. I am 100% sure I can get you a good picture of Highlights', as she was my pony and I didn't lose stuff. Ringlets belonged to my sister who is legendary for losing pony stuff but I am 80% sure it's one of her accessories I have custody of.

 She's already lost Baby Liquorice's clip and her one and only Dream Beauty so wherever possible if I unearth something pony of hers from childhood, I tend to spirit away somewhere safe ;)

Here is Highlights' clip on my loose pony though if you want me to do a picture of the one in the box with my MIB one I can do. Let me know if it's okay, her hair is kind of bright so if need be I can take it off and photograph it.

I haven't found Ringlets' yet. I have a bad feeling there's a chance it is with the pony in storage, but I will keep looking in case it's in a different storage bag.

I did find two of the other identical bow clips in different colours (yellow and blue I think) which clearly are from some other line but look just like GH pony clips (unless there is a variation I don't know about). Are you going to mention those on your site as they often turn up in pony lots?
