The newest Snarf is really cute in that style. I can't say the same about the rest. I wonder what Mumm-Ra looks like?

He shows up at the end of the intro, certainly nowhere near as scary as he should be.

I agree with Skeletor's reaction here.

I really hope He-Man isn't next on CN's list of bad reboots...

'Evilmania' from Freddie as F.R.O.7 comes to mind.

Pony Corral / Re: Who Is Your All Time Favourite Pony?
« on: June 21, 2018, 03:29:22 PM »
This is something I've been asked about in another forum, and if I remember correctly, the list went like this:

G1 cartoon: Wind Whistler
G1 UK comics: Majesty
G3: Pinkie Pie
G4: Applejack

It's hard for me to decide an absolute favourite among these four, though I'd probably have WW and AJ slightly above the other two if I were to rank them.

Dang, a shame I missed out on this thread for not being around often enough

I love this pilot, especially because of Tirac who is one of my all time favourite cartoon villains from the 80s, alongside the likes of Megatron and a few others, as well as of all time because, when I first began watching the original My Little Pony, you betcha I was not expecting it to start with something as dark as Tirac and everything that surrounded him, especially since most properties from Hasbro weren't that dark up until like, the 1986 Transformers movie.

The lack of exposition is something I really like about RaMC, many things are left open to interpretation, which is the only upside to the whole thing being really rushed.

If they ever reboot the series again, I hope they make it more G1 inspired, with humans and dark elements thrown in, and all that stuff. I fear that might not be the case with G4's overwhelming popularity and Hasbro's love for money, and that if Tirac returns, he'll just be Arabus again.

Something I always see from people is the idea that Majesty was killed by Tirac, but... Given how über powerful she was in the UK comics... I find that a little hard to believe. She could probably turn the Rainbow of Darkness into bubbles!

I'm a 90s kid, but I love the 80s.
It's an era full of great shows and movies. Like My Little Pony :-D

I miss David the Gnome. I didn't know it had been released on DVD, since it hasn't been released here, to my knowledge.

I love this show.  Mabel is the best.  (Waddles too.)

Also, best cartoon intro ever.

I beg to differ (considering this exists:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mH8qFGcE1uQ), but it's all up to opinion.  ^.^
The GF intro is really good, I sometimes just want to listen to it for the sake of being such a catchy, nice and fun melody.

Every time I watch it, I think "wait, this is for kids!? This is Disney!?" XD I love it. And this past week, between it and Steven Universe, I'm a mess haha. They're both killing me with the emotional reveals!
To be fair, Disney has shown some impressive mature and dark stuff in the past.

Easily one of the best cartoons nowadays. Any other fan of this amazing show around here?

It is.

I fear they might be a bit too childish to me.
Hard to say! I mean, I don't think being "childish" is inherently a bad thing, but I don't know what does or doesn't trigger bad reactions for you. Compared to MLP episodes, the Tink movies have the arguable advantage that the problems are always the main character's fault. There aren't any giant megamonsters of the week for everyone to defeat through the power of friendship with no ethical dilemmas to speak of. And I think Pirate Fairy in particular tells a surprisingly mature story if you look past the obvious fantastical elements. But yes, they're absolutely children's movies, and part of their appeal is that they're sort of a safe spot. A retreat. A prettier (and they truly are very pretty movies), happier existence, even if they do have to keep saving the world. If that's not what you're personally looking for then that's probably not what you should be watching... and that's fine.

(Not that any of that kept me from writing 30,000 words about a couple of fairies falling in love despite together getting maybe five minutes of canon  screentime. But then this is the internet.)

EDIT: This video's not on YouTube that I know of, so I'm linking it here so I can keep track of it. It's a deleted scene from an earlier plot for the first movie, but it's fully animated and very cute.

Yeah, maybe I'll give them a try, but only if I have the luck to find one on TV anytime. They don't sound like my kind of movies, but eh, I've got nothing to lose.
