Oh Minty - What Should I Do with Your Hair?
« on: September 06, 2012, 06:05:35 PM »
well, I found this minty at thrift and tried fixing her hair. It was very tightly braided a dozen of little braids.  I unbraided, conditioned, combed, conditioned, combed, flat ironed, conditioned, put curlers in...and...

Her cousin Pinkie Pie loves this hair do! ...
but... I don't think it quite turned out.

Is there any hope?  I think I may have accidentally curled against her natural/factory curl.   Suggestions?

The hair is looking pretty scraggly/damaged to me, especially on the mane... I'd probably put the mane into a single dutch braid and call it a day, honestly. The tail might be presentable if you do warm/hot water and then a leg curl; you can hide a lot of frizz in a big ringlet like that.

yeah it was very very frizzy.  I was hoping that the curls would help hide... yeah. maybe a single braid would be best.

I think her curl is adorable.
Reminds me of some of the elderly I take care of. ^o^

Lots and lots of conditioner will make her hair surprisingly silky again.  I used my super conditioner on some scraggly ponies last week and after a few days of treatments, they have wonderful hair again!

May I ask what brand of conditioner you suggest?  I used some Aussie stuff on her so far, but I have some other brands on hand too.  Pantene?

If conditioning doesn't help, you could de-tinsel and run a flat iron through her hair.  It might improve matters...

I use Johnsons Baby as a shampoo and conditioner and it works amazingly on wild hair - I am not sure if you have the same product in the US. But its one of those gentle but super moisturising shampoo/conditions which pony hair seems to like.

In honesty I actually quite like her this way :P She looks as though she is trying to rock some 1950s hair do!
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
