Customs / Sundance Baby Brother
« on: April 26, 2019, 08:06:36 AM »
A little custom I put together. The idea was make a pony that could be paired with Danny (Similar to Megan/Molly & Sundance/Baby Sundance). Made from a HQG1C pony. Haven't decided on a name yet, but should probably be something with Star. Possibly Stardust. "Danny & Stardust" maybe kinda works? Let me know if you have an idea. I probably won't be making a Danny doll.

Pony Corral / Ponies you thought existed, but don't
« on: April 17, 2016, 08:08:04 AM »
Through your years as a collector, have you ever been under the assumption that a certain pony/variation totally existed, only to later learn it was a figment of your imagination? I know this happened a lot before or in the early days of the internet, when everything couldn't be as easily fact-checked.

A lot of it can be attributed to the old "Dream Valley - A Collector's Guide to My Little Pony" (which I still LOVE to browse the old version of through the internet archive), a site that back in the late '90s/early '00s more or less accepted any information that was submitted, and there weren't many knowledgeable non-US collectors around to dispute the information so a lot of it was accepted as true by the community. One of my favorites is that it mentions a BBE version of Baby Lemon Drop, sold only in Finland. It's so random and nonsensical, but at the time I totally believed that this pony existed.

And then there's of course the classic "Prettybow", which is great to look back at now that we know of her actual origin.

Not every imaginary pony is a product of the Dream Valley site of course. As a young child I was certain I had seen a Molly and non-BBE Baby Sundance in a toy store, and that Baby Sundance was in the Ember-pose. Molly and Baby Sundance were not even sold in my country, so obviously this was wrong. What I saw was probably a regular Megan & Sundance next to a Twice as Fancy Megan & Sundance (both were sold in Sweden). The shy pose Sundance must have appeared smaller than the TAF one, which is why I interpreted it as a Baby (I was likely around 5 years old at the time, and only knew of Molly and Baby Sundance from a book I had).

I'd love to hear if anyone has similar stories. Whether it was a pony you heard about on the internet, or something you unknowingly dreamt up yourself! :)

MLP Nirvana / Takara/Osharena Green hair with Braids Ami Ami
« on: January 21, 2016, 12:35:33 PM »
Amazing story and very cute ponies! I have a deep interest in Takara MLPs, but am content with just documenting and photographing what I come across. I've sold several Takara MLPs and accessories through the Arena, and can confirm that it is a great place to sell them! :)

In all my years of searching I've never come across the green and blue "Ochame Fashion" ponies. I do have a photo saved of the blue one which, if memory serves me correctly, was found in Finland:

Certainly the green one must be out there too, but maybe since green and blue are not considered traditionally feminine colors they weren't produced in as many numbers as the pink and yellow (pure speculation on my part). And Takara MLPs are rare enough as it is, so... XD

[Topic split as it was going OT love pkw xxx]

MLP Nirvana / Japanese Takara MLP Manga
« on: April 10, 2015, 10:48:57 AM »
On the insert included with Takara My Little Ponies, there was an advertisement for a pony manga running in the young children's magazine "Yoiko". I decided to do some investigating into this and I have found one issue of it. I know some of you would probably like to know what it's all about, so I decided to share my findings. :)

This is the March issue of 1986. The Takara Ponies were probably out of production by this point, and it states in the comic that this is the last one.

As you can see it's more of an illustrated story than a comic. The artwork looks exactly the same as the Takara MLP box art. I don't know how many issues these stories ran for, or if they were all done in this style (I would guess that they were). It must have started some time in 1985, and the magazine was released monthly. As a bonus it seems to include instructions for crafts you can make. Otherwise there's not much to say about it. The story in this one is that it's spring and Pinky and Milky go outside to look at the nature. They are amazed. The end. It was intended for very young children after all, and thus does not have a lot of text. Nowadays with G4 we are getting both official and unofficial pony comics from Japan, but before that these were probably the only pony stories made for the Japanese market. So there is some novelty in that.

MLP Nirvana / Takara MLP brochures (Warning: Extremely Adorable Pictures!)
« on: September 08, 2012, 01:06:23 PM »
These are the two brochures that were included with the Japanese Takara Ponies. This is a more accurate reference of which products were available than the Takara 1985 catalogue (which shows a lot of items that were never released, and prototypes that vary considerably from the finished product). Not ALL products are shown in these brochures, but we'll get to that later.

MLP Nirvana / Taking offers on MIB Japanese Takara My Little Pony SOLD!
« on: January 27, 2012, 11:48:33 AM »
Old member rising from the grave! I believe it's been more than a year since I posted here!

I used to have a pretty large collection of Japanese Takara My Little Pony items (well, mostly clothing). I will always have an interest in this fantastic toyline, and will keep collecting any information I find about it, but I feel I can't keep all of the physical items forever, especially as I am in need of some money. Therefore, when I got a good offer for my loose Oshare na Pony (Ochame Fashion "Fuwafuwa Hair"), I decided it was time to let her go. And now I have one more I sadly feel that I have to pass on....

I took the cardboard insert she is attached to out of the box, to take better photos, but she is still attached to the cardboard with a thread around here neck (she could probably be removed and reattached without ruining anything, but I have kept it as it came from the factory)

She comes with her brush, all accessories still attached to the plastic sprue, two "Oshare Cards" and pamphlet showing other Takara MLP products.

The Box is not exactly mint, but in pretty good condition. As can be seen there is price sticker residue and the cardboard has ripped off at the upper right corner on the front. The colors are still bright.

I'll be taking offers on this lovely tomboy. If I don't receive one that lives up to my expectations, I'll put her on eBay. (For comparison, I sold my loose one for $1500, but don't let that discourage you, it's hard to determine a value on something this rare, feel free to send any offers!)

You can send me a PM. (I can also be reached on this e-mail address: [email protected])

I'm open to payment plans, meaning you can pay for her one bit at a time (no extra charges, and I can wait as long as it takes), until the full amount is paid and then I will ship her to you.

Considering the amount I'm expecting for her, I'm pretty sure I can throw in free shipping, and she will of course be sent with tracking (anything else would seem insane). For the record, I'm located in Sweden. Hope there's someone out there willing to love her as much as I have!
