I think some MLP fans put it together. It was a nice little place to talk about this lovely movie. I guess it became defunct at some point because Google doesn't pull up any forum by that name.

I remember a live-action film with Santa's deer (not sure if it was nine of them including one with a red nose in tribute to Rudolph) shipped in crates and they break out of the crates in a warehouse they're stored in. The people looking after the warehouse keep peeking inside and freak out when the reindeer start flying around. Is this at all familiar to anyone? :D

Off Topic / Barely saved our outdoor Halloween decorations!
« on: November 02, 2014, 09:32:02 AM »
Yesterday mom and I took down our indoor and outdoor decorations. Weather channel forecasted a bit of snow for last night and we didn't think it'd be more than a dusting. No big deal. Well, the snow didn't start till this morning and....it's a nasty snow storm. Five inches of snow have fallen and snow is still falling thickly and splattering our window and door screens. The storm made us lose power once but we got our power back. Lamps occasionally wink as though we'll lose power again. We're not ready for heavy snow! >_< I'm glad my mom and I removed the decorations yesterday instead of putting it off till today.

Off Topic / Magic Jinn. Love it or hate it?
« on: September 21, 2013, 10:13:24 PM »
Tonight I learned of a Hasbro toy called "Magic Jinn". It's an electronic blue cat "genie" that tries to guess the animal the user is thinking of. I was browsing a network site with links to many people's blogs about life advice and hobbies and came across a Muslim parent with small children being offended by this toy. He/she had snail-mailed a bunch of protest letters to Hasbro and wants the toy recalled. I'm sorry the parent is upset by Magic Jinn but I don't want to help him/her fight Hasbro over it. I myself think the toy is pretty cool and I want one. :lookround: Magic Jinn can sit next to my ceramic figure of Genie from Disney's Aladdin that plays "Friend Like Me".

Heh. I bought this little guy for a quarter at a thrift shop today. He has a tush tag with "100% cotton/100% polyfiber fill/Handknitted in Peru" printed on it. He looks like the lizard that the babies in the Rugrats episode "Reptar on Ice" mistaken for Reptar's baby. You can see the lizard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stW0ZUw_9_0 I always liked the character Reptar in that show. I even have a plush of him which I should dig out and take a photo of it with gator here sometime. :)

Off Topic / Happy St. Patrick's Day!

My family usually has cornbeef, potatoes, and cabbage for St. Patty's supper. We're not Irish at all so it's simply for fun. I wanted one of those yummy shamrock shakes from McDonald's but the drive to the nearest one is too far and I don't want to leave the warm house today (the sun is shining and outside thermometer shows it's 35 degrees F out but the wind sounds so strong pushing against the side of the house it must be closer to 20 degrees out there). So I found a recipe on the Internet to make a shamrock shake at home but I still have to leave the house to get vanilla ice cream and peppermint extract at the store for the recipe.

Shamock Shake
2 cups vanilla ice cream
3/4 cup milk
3/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
8 drops of green food coloring
Blend everything in a blender at hight speed until smooth
This recipe makes 1 serving

Mmmm, that's going to be so yummy! :D

Off Topic / Anyone else watch Total Black Out on Syfy channel?

It's a hilarious game show. Players have to go into a dark room (they're filmed with night vision cameras) and try to identify objects and there's lots of freaking out. One of the tests has been for the players to touch and guess the weight of objects and an actual clown was among the objects and he scares the dayllights out of any player who comes next him by honking a horn at the person. So fun! A new episode is on every Tuesday at 10PM EST.

I'm watching Rachel vs. Guy Celebrity Cookoff episode one on Food Network and one of the celebrities cooking in it is figure skater Johnny Weir. I thought "He looks like Loki in the Marvel films!" and I imagined Loki as a figure skater.

Off Topic / I need help finding a vigilante film
« on: December 09, 2012, 05:25:41 PM »
This is what I remember from when I watched the film as a child and it's not much. The main character, a man, is attacked by a gang in an apartment and he was left horribly disfigured and laying out on the apartment's balcony. A little later, Main Man is keeping to himself on the balcony and a man and woman (friends?) approach him and he pleads with them he wants to see his face, one hesitantly offers him a mirror, and Main Man has a breakdown seeing his reflection. Eventually Main Man becomes a vigilante in a trench coat and throws manhole covers at criminals and that stuck with me the most because I thought it was cool. I thought the film was Darkman. I watched Darkman last night and I didn't see the parts I described here (it is a film about a disfigured vigilante though) so now I'm wondering what film I'm actually thinking of. Any help would be appreciated. :)

EDIT: I was probably ten when I saw this film so that would be 1995/96.

Off Topic / Kids wanting real animals for Christmas
« on: December 02, 2012, 03:17:16 PM »
You have to be clever to come up with the next best thing after the real thing. Today I went to a Festival of Trees with dozens of unique and lovely decorated trees for auction to raise money for our town's play house. Off in the corner is a tree that isn't for auction: the Mitten Tree. It covered with felt cutouts of mittens attached to tags and each tag has a gift requested by a child on it. I found two tags with two 11-year-olds (one boy and one girl) asking for a "real monkey" and I cackled inside and thought "How cute!"" I read all the tags on the tree and those two were the most unusual and the only ones asking for real animals. I decided to buy for those kids and currently brainstorming how to give them a Monkey Christmas. ^.^

Off Topic / Need help finding a book title
« on: March 15, 2012, 04:07:52 PM »
When I was a student in middle school in the 90's, I discovered a book in the school's library about a teen girl finding a young deer and wanting to keep it for a pet so she made a pen in the woods and kept the deer in it. Near the end of the book, the deer gets shot by someone the girl may or may not have known but the shot didn't kill the deer. The girl finds the wounded deer and I think she shoots it because it had lost too much blood to survive. Could someone please let me know if they know the book's title?
