High prices?
« on: March 07, 2013, 08:15:59 AM »
Does anyone else think the prices on eBay are at an high at the moment?

I usually buy most of my ponies from there but at the moment seem to be loosing on every bid even though I tend to put in good prices.

I collect G1 and bid on eBay UK.

Hmmm..  it's tax return season in the States so prices are gauged higher by sellers and buyers alike?

Well, a lot of people in the US are getting back tax return money, so that could be the issue. I know I venture into ebay UK when I have extra money. Hope this helps! :)

I've been thinking this recently too (ebay uk) Although you can still get the odd bargain depending on what you are looking for as i've bagged a couple over the last week or so but they tend to be ponies that havent been listed very well i.e. The seller doesnt know their name.

Boys are mostly a no go for me at the moment, their prices keep going crazy high.
(having said that i got Wigwam for £6.50 last week which i thought was good!!)

I tend to go for listings like "Pink my little pony with flower on bum".  I find the ones which were kids toys being sold by a parent clearing out their kids rooms do tend to be cheaper than the same pony being sold as from a collection even if they are the same quality.  Then you get the "toy traders" who can be very over-priced and somewhat over ambitious in their descriptions of "VHTF" bait pony with a Nirvana price tag.

That said, I still think you cannot beat a good jumble/car boot sale for inexpensive pony goodness!!

I have been also seeing alot of very high prices! Yes it could be the tax return time right now making them high. I wait till a good deal comes along. :) I will never over pay for a pony!

They tend to be high around now due to tax returns.  I'm sure they'll calm back down towards the end of May or so.

Up and down with little pattern or prediction! That's the way ebay tends to always be. Search for ended auction prices on a pony and you ll find many around average but a few super expensive and a few bargains - the only thing ebay can usually guarantee is a variety of end prices. Wait a few weeks and a search for ended auctions and you ll get a whole other set of numbers for the same pony.

When I was actively adding ponies to my collection, I used to find sometimes the best option was to work in a cycle with a couple of dozen ponies I was on the look out for. When one or two was constantly trending high, I would bump them to the bottom of the want list and move on to the next ponies. Hopefully by the time those ponies came around again, they would be trending a little lighter again.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

They do seem a little high, but I've managed to get a few awesome deals in the past few weeks :) It's strange how ebay works sometimes. I bought a pony for $9 and a few days after that another one sold for $30. Ebay is so unpredictable :P

I agree, not only that people are charging way to much for economy delivery! :(

I would love to be selling on Ebay right now! Unfortunatly the problems seem to outweigh the success.

I prefer ebay UK to the US site because shipping from europe is way cheaper. I've noticed waay more buyers on the UK site lately, and it seems to be moving to the aussie site as well.

Prices do seem to be higher, but then again, I feel like some rarer ponies/accessories are popping up more frequently than in the past months!
My  belongs to wacky G1 merchandise!

I've noticed the ridiculous high prices on ebay lately too. Never thought about tax returns but that totally makes sense!

LOL I agree with you on that ;-)
I dont like selling ponies on Ebay. Though they tend to fetch good/better prices.

xx
