I think there is, in addition to what everyone else has expressed, a generational aspect to collecting toys. Interest in a generation will wane as the kids who watched the shows and played with the toys grow up and find other interests, then will resurge as those (now grown) kids have children of their own and have the time and money to indulge in nostalgia about their childhoods.
I know I went nuts over G3 because the release was (quite intentionally, I am sure) timed when I had young daughters of my own. It was so fun to see MLP in the stores again and buy them for my children, I quickly forgave Hasbro for changing them from the G1 style I loved as a child.
So I expect G4 will maintain a steady presence in collectors' minds and may increase in popularity in the future.

Thats super cute. It's so interesting how the retro merch rumbles on Hasbro have realised they can make money from this IP as well as G4, apparently.
You would think they would realize they could do so much more with previous generations than sublicensing for merch!

The dots mimic the format used by the bullet journal method. This is so fun!

I don't have photos, but bought a Spanish Tootsie and Argie Paradise at PFF! I have wanted them for a long time.

I want a Euro Baby Blossom MOC (it's actually for my sister--one of her grails).

The pigments create a wonderful effect. I love that you used colors/names from less common gemstones!

Munchy is HTF and a well-liked pony, so it's a great deal even with flaws and a higher price for more common ponies!

I echo what others have said--the hair on Black Ice is gorgeous! And Daisy is so sweet.

I was gonna wait to post this until I got the photo off my phone, but with my track record that'll prolly take another week at least x) so I'll just post it now, w/o a pic, before I forget -
Five Below has a Firefly shirt! sort of a tarot card design, it's really pretty <3 I'll try and get my pic up soon if no one else posts one.
I didn't see the Firefly shirt, but found a different vintage MLP shirt at Five Below yesterday!

My sister and I had the G1 Bright Bouquet family as kids. We renamed Daddy BB "Blueheart". He was the only boy pony we had, so he had multiple wives!

I love Parasol! She was queen of my childhood herd. My family was living in Germany at the time, and I had the alternate haired European version without realizing she wasn't the standard release. I love both variations.
