I made a poor helpful employee scan the tag for me today to verify that she was on order for my local store today.  Her tag has been there for about a week taunting me....  Yep, on order...  So the waiting and stalking continues.  Lol.

Are those two different blues in her hair? @_@

Btw, didn't see an answer for this yet.....  Yes, there are two different blues in her hair, one a sort of opaque light blue and the other a more standard blue like what she normally has.  It's pretty nice IMO. :)

Western Barbie looked super pretty on her promo shots. Similar to Kissing Barbie she has a button that's meant
to make her wink. Unfortunately, the different vinyls used for her face and eyelids react over time and melt...leaving
us with this.

I had Western Barbie, I think she was supposed to be some sort of country/western singer (capitalizing on the fame of early 80's Kenny Rogers and Crystal Gale and such).  She also came with a stamp to "autograph" things, and I think she may have had a cardboard album.  She's also responsible for my childhood belief that "real women" always had that sultry, half-closed eye look going on.

I remember the stamp for certain....  I had (actually.....probably still have) Western Ken and his waist has a random elastic band so if you put him on one of the horses that were sold at the same time and make it buck....he looks somewhat like a bronco rider....if you use a healthy amount of imagination...  I need to go dig out that container of dolls now to see if he IS still in there.  My daughter commandeered the horses I had :)

All in the title....looking for these three girls.  Swim girls fully dressed, Frankie nude is fine, actually preferred.  I have some trade stuffs available but I don't have it sorted out at this time so buying might be the best way to go.  :).

Oh, she's darling!  I love how you've got her colored!
thank you :)  I want to do a grey one too eventually but I'm not as inspired for markings for one that color so she's on the backburner for now!

Oh, that maneki neko Freya is too cute!!!
Thank you :)

Overall, I'm really pretty happy with her- particularly since she was my first real face up- I'm working on a few MHs atm but they had to be brought back to square one due to a materials mishap >.<

Hmmm...my eyebrows only started matching my hair more once I started dying my hair...now that I've had to start going lighter again (hello lightening effects of white hair!) they are not matching again, lol.  I tend not to be bugged by non matching eyebrows as a result....  :)

Since you're used to minis, you have an advantage in being used to working with small scale...but the free hand eyes are a whole new world for MH....  I have four dolls waiting for me to stop being chicken and get down to it with their eyes and I'm going the water color pencil route so I can use a q tip and water to erase if need be ( and yet I still feel chicken, lol) if you search for MH custom tutorials I guarantee you'll get a lot of hits and a lot of great ideas in how to go about it :).  The one I'm following the most is by nonaptime- I'm very visual so I appreciate how it's all pictured including a link on how to paint eyes.  :). http://www.nonaptime.com/2012/07/an-illustrated-guide-to-repainting/

I blame this thread and Coin Operated Girls pictures on flickr....for this girl ;)  I still need to go a proper peg shaving to get her head cap to sit properly- it has a bit of a gap at the top- and I need to have some proper daylight tomorrow for better pictures, but this is Nikki :)

and yes, she is my third Maneki Neko or beckoning cat- her picture companions are intentional ;)

Thanks all. I am just going to forgo that project and end up getting a cheap Spectra LOL I don't think it's worth the hassle or headache after reading your comments :P

You guys use acetone to remove the face makeup like on MLP's correct? Because of it being a different type of plastic?

Yep, it's more of a vinyl on the face....I still rinse it after usually, but that's just me.

Thanks everyone <333 I am soooo in love with repainting MH stuff, its my new addiction heh

DiamondDreams- I used acrylic paint for everything. The Golden acrylic paint I have seems to work the best when its not watered down, that's when it sticks the best. The only other paint I use is Liquitex heavy body paint and TBH that's kind of a pain to use on the plastic. You have to do it in a bunch of thin layers otherwise it gobs up and if its too watered down it beads up and doesn't stick. I think I'm finally getting the hang of a method that works best for painting on the plastic lol.

Awesome thanks :). I think I still have a hefty supply of Golden paints here somewhere even if Liquitex is my main acrylic brand ;). My craft/ art supply closet is insane.
