Correct release names for these ponies?
« on: May 02, 2015, 05:41:01 AM »
So I got fed up of calling these ponies by (insert colour here) (insert English pony name here). I have very few Nirvana ponies, and those mostly from car boot sale fluke, but I would still like to know the real names of these. Because they don't look the same as the "mainstream" versions, I'd like them to have their proper identities.

I am pretty sure I am right that this one is called Jenny (Macau).

I have no idea about this one, I've been calling her Yellow Minty for years, but now it's confirmed she isn't a one off freak pony, and that there are other different yellow Mintys as well as her, I really want to know what she's actually called (and my one sole Italian insert doesn't show her..)

Do the Arco Iris have individual names?

And, finally, my very wrecked Greek Bow Tie:

Hey, gimme my pony back! Lol I got her a longtime ago when a local collector sold up her ponies. I think she cost about 50p...no such thing as Nirvana in those days. I am right, then, that her name is Jenny?

Yes, her name is Jenny.  I'm not sure her REAL name but I know she's known as Jenny.

The brown pony is Jenny. I have her MOC. :bigups:

I've never seen an official name for the yellow Minty.

The Argentina Rainbow Ponies have turned up MOC on several different backcards, but they don't have a name printed on the front of the card like their US/UK/European counterparts.

Greek Bowtie does have an official Greek name. It's tough to spell (for me, at least). I'll see if I can find it...
(Edit:) Found it! Xionoyla, loose translation: Snow Girl or Snow White)
...personally I just call her Greek Bowtie since I have no idea how to say her correct name. :blush:

Me either, but I could always call her Snow White instead. May have to make something  up for Minty, though...poor pony.

Jenny :heart: I adore the Macau names :)

According to the backcard:
Minty = Minky
Blossom = Bonny
Butterscotch = Jenny (Brown Peachy/Snuzzle is always found on a Jenny card)
Snuzzle = Rosy
Cotton Candy = Candy
BlueBelle = Belly

According to the Macau Pretty Parlour cards
Lemondrop = Folly
Peachy = Nelly

Yellow Minty is an interesting one. I know that SoSilver found the "odd coloured" Italians for sale loose in cardboard boxes (official DAG boxes) rather than on a card or in a "stable" box. I remember his story as he was young and told the shop keeper they didn't look like real ponies! I have a picture from a catalogue of the regular coloured Italian CP ponies in one of these boxes. They are Polly (white Snuzzle) Cannella (Butterscotch with white hair), Minty (do I need to explain?) and Blu (Blue Belle).

I don't know if that answers the question of what yellow Minty's name is :P

The Baby Greek ponies are another fun one. They didn't actually get names! In Greek tradition you didn't name your baby until it was christened at a year old :) so even though the ponies are Babies of adults, they didn't come with a name so to speak.

Wow! Thanks for all that, PKW! That thing with the Italian yellow Minty reminded me of something...the girl I got Minty from considered her not real and so didn't want her. She wanted a 'real' Minty. I don't remember if she was in Italy -for some reason I think she wasn't - but it reminds me of the wacky princesses here, as well as ponies in the grey tagged bags...maybe that was an equivalent release?? It might explain why more than one mane version exists, and why so sscarce,

I am going to go dig my Italian insert out again.

Edit: Got it. Link is here:
http://www.etherella.com/scrapbook2/italyinsert.html
Cannella, Polly, Blu and Minty are all on this, but on different sections. Or it might be one section that spread onto two folds, not sure. They're not titled. Nothing relating to yellow Minty though.

 This insert is 1987. It is the only one I have and I think it covers all ponies from the year, not specifically Italians, because it has TEs and stuff on it...

The Macau gray Lemondrop is Rosy according to her MOC version and the purple Butterscotch is Bonny. :heart: it appears that they went by colors rather than symbols when putting the names on the front of their cards. :)

Does anyone have a scan of that backcard? Just for curiosity, since I know of some UK release pony cards/inserts with names muddled up, and it might just be that they planned one thing and ultimately did it differently. Or, it could be that the ones found MOC are the factory error ones (like Fizzy on Sunshower's card) because they were wrong they didn't go out on sale?

I don't know how many of these are still floating around though, so...I actually don't even know if I have any other Macau ponies bar Jenny, so I'm just guessing.

I think my sister has the Cotton Candy one. She has a small Cotton Candy army, so I think that she does.

So it's Jenny on the card?  Wow I'd love to see a photo of her MOC if you have one!!!  I always thought it was a name the community gave her, like the Beachy Keen's :P

Thanks KKV :) I had forgotten to mention Butter-Blossom :P

Please check the nirvana gallery :D all known Macau variants are shown there as well as a couple of MOC ponies and a backcard image (sorry it is a bit blurry due to poor image quality, I really need a new picture of that!) ;)

http://mlparena.com/archive/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=216553

I have seen a number of Macau's MOC and Jenny is always on a Jenny card.

Lemondrop and Peachy were sold with play sets (pretty parlour and the show stable) I *think* Macau Lemondrop was sold in the UK as she is quite common (well... Peachy and Lemondrop do seem to be ones you come across the most) to find in the UK. I am speculating I have not evidence :blush:

Back to the names; the Macau pretty parlour card names all match the back card :)

I do have all sorts of pictures, but I am reluctant to share since I don't know who the pictures belong too as I have had them such a long time.
