Title: The Unicorn Trend
Post by: Dreamer on February 16, 2018, 12:37:34 AM
Because unicorns are trendy now, and MLP has helped popularizing the "colorful fantasy horse" image, I assume many Arena users are as happy with this as I am  I always wanted unicorn stuff as a child, but there was little to none that wasn't MLP (and by then I tried to avoid the brand as much as possible :eyeroll: )

Here's the topic to post all your other colorful horsies, in any shape and color: magnets, mugs, clothing, accesories, stationery.... and if you want to sneak in a fakie or two, I won't bat an eye. This is the place for everything unicorn, but we're open to pegasi and Earth horses too  ;)

Tehe Im with you on this! Well... sometimes it annoys me that unicorns are literally EVERYWHERE now but on the other hand : never ever was I able to have so many things with unicorn decor <3

I had my 36th birthday last saturday and my in-laws surprised me with a unicorn overload :D

So, theres a plush (from my husband, I love him, its NICI´s Rainbow Flair unipeg, he´s sooooo soft und cuddly <3) and from my in-laws I got PJs (the pants are printed all over with unicorns, the shirt shows one rainbow unicorn and lots of stars, its made of fleece), a bigger pillow and a small super soft fleece pillow

Huh? Unicorns have always been the most popular mythological horse. As a kid I had Whisper the Winged Unicorn books, The Last Unicorn, MLPs, Lisa Frank stuff, this big unicorn plush my folks won me at Sea World that I always sniffed because she still smelled like a salty sea breeze.

Right now, I have The Last Unicorn, MLP, a Lisa Frank coloring book, a beautiful glass lamp, and several unicorns figurines.

I love it! I feel like they were in when we were little and then they just went away and you couldn't find much with them on clothing or anything. Now they're all over clothing again and all over shops. I was just thinking the other day how in it is again. They even had two unicorn styled Vans for little girls. Like what lol.

Our wedding theme (5 years ago) was Unicorns -  of course I've always loved unicorns and fortunately my wife has a keen appreciation of the ridiculous :D

I made this huge paper mache unicorn prop

During the afterparty we had a room for the kids to play in that featured MLP heavily (coloring books and all my unicorn MLPs)

The kids that attended our party said that it was the best wedding they had ever attended-  and a few of the girls became unicorn obsessed thereafter :D

As for unicorns, I'm really glad of the trend but haven't picked up much from it as yet, aside from a bracelet and a tarot deck that features a lot of rainbow-haired unicorns. I also have some old Hambly and Sandylion stickers thereof on my art folders. Really should get photos of them sometime. :P

I have never seen a single Lisa Frank thing here in my country. In my students exchange I had the chance and took it. Now I'm the proud owner of over 1000 stickers that get lost everywhere, lol.

Child me would have been so disappointed. But then, I think I'm happier now, without a care for what I should like  :P

The only non-MLP unicorns I have are these plush ones I've had since kindergarten. Well, I got the little one when I was in kindergarten, but I've had the big one for longer than I can remember. The cool thing about them is they both have cloven hooves and lion tails - perfect for us Last Unicorn fans who are too snobby for simple horned horses :poke:

I have always loved unicorn stuff.  I actually have noticed that there is a surge in merchandise made of unicorns lately.  We go through this about every other decade I guess.  I have Unicorn Salt and Pepper Shakers and even Unicorn ear thingy's for my phone.  I don't remember the term for those.  Mind is just blank. I hate that when it happens.  Pegasus is my ultimate favorite though.  I wish more Peagi stuff was around too.

I’ve always been obsessed with unicorns. Growing up, I tried to collect all the unicorn books, toys...anything. My secret unicorn was my favourite book series, and I dreamt of having a unicorn friend too. I think I still have my “unicorns are my homeboys” tank top around somewhere.
I think the craziest unicorn thing I ever did was pretending to be a unicorn at school. No joke. My friends and I would pretend to be magical creatures at recess and have adventures. Saving the world all before recess was over. I was a unicorn queen with the magic ability to shoot stars and rainbows. As we grew older, we stopped playing what we referred to as “the W club”, W standing for wizard as most of us were wizards. If memory serves, we had a bunch of wizards, two werewolves, two unicorn and all used a clump of trees as our magical hideout.
Most of my friends have let those days go into memory. But to me, those adventures have given me a goal. To turn those adventures into an animated television show and share the magic we had.

I have a slight-yet-obvious obsession with unicorns.. And I blame a visit to my Aunt's house when I was a little girl. I also blame a trip to Blockbuster when I was maybe 4-ish and of all the movies I could have chosen, I picked the sun-faded original vhs of The Last Unicorn. The film stuck with me as a child, and it's a favorite of mine to this day.

Now I have a collection of various figures, plushies, my MLP collecting has been affected by it and now I'm on to Breyer unicorns

I have a set of really cute unicorn trays that a friend gave me . I got my first Breyer unicorn yesterday. I also have a few unicorn things from my childhood including a music box and a ceramic pearly unicorn figurine.

If you buy Bath & Body Works products don't use their unicorn bath bombs. There are a lot of complaints about them not working correctly and permanently staining the bathtub, There have also been complaints about the bath bombs staining skin.

I tried to collect as much unicorn stuff as I could when I was a kid. Stickers of all kinds were my go to cause they were portable/small/didn't take up much space. Had books of course, my favorite and still favorite unicorn books are Birth Of the Firebringer trilogy. Favorite thing I had back in the day was a giant coloring poster. The size of a regular poster and the details were amazing.

So I'm thrilled to see the up swing of them in merchandise.

Etymologically speaking, if it has one single horn, it's an unicorn  :P There are medieval variants of unicorns that are depicted not only as horses, but as antelopes, deer or goats. There's even one that is a rabbit!

Well, the Latin name for the narwhal is monodon monoceros, the latter part of which is 'unicorn' in Greek... I am choosing to interpret that as "Narwhals are literally unicorns." Because science!!! :D

I had every intention of using this mug for its intended purpose, but ended up keeping it as an ornament instead. I don't want to risk it getting broken in the kitchen. I was thinking of getting some of that rough foam, making a base and planting some artificial flowers in it, a bit like those old china ornaments. It'd make a groovy bit of granny chic!

Yes indeed! I have been quite tempted by that really cute teapot, but shelf space is a bit tight at the moment. It would help if I hadn't put a colossal wooden carriage on one of the shelves, it takes up more space than I thought it would!

I kinda enjoy it but I'm also kind of exhausted with it.. I mean, some of this stuff is nuts. Like have you seen what Lucky Charms cereal is doing? Sigh. I'm also probably projecting, as my boyfriend's family calls me "the unicorn girl" and buys me unicorn-related presents and I'm tired of it  -_-

At this point I'm really only noticing/enjoying flower crown aesthetic or goth things. Super girl or super dark, no in-between.

I'm more focused on dragons right now anyway. Can we make dragons popular again?

I prefer pegasi, but I really am enjoying the pastel trend that seems to tie in to unicorns so often! Can't say I care for anything with a horn on it. I'd also like to see more traditional unicorns with lion tails, cloven hooves, instead of just horses with a weapon on their head.

Whilst I'm very happy riding the unicorn trend train, I really dislike unicorns and the idea of vomiting/pooping rainbows, which is unfortunately quite popular also. I've always been a unicorn fan and the rainbow vomit/poop idea is just so old to me that for it to be repeated constantly as if it's funny just bugs me now.

I also have a pet peeve over alicorns being called unicorns, unipegs and pegacorns but I've always been like that.

I do love that I can type 'unicorn' into the search bar of most online stores and have pages of stuff come up. I have unicorn bed sheets on my double bed. Not a kid's size single bed. What a time to be alive!
