I applied for the Disney college program 2 months ago, and I just heard back today. I got in! I'll be there from January to May, and will be working with Merchandise (Glances at Pony collection..wonder why they gave me this role )
Can't wait to be surrounded by Disney toys and goodies for 4 months! RIP my bank account though! :lmao:

Sweet! Be sure to check out Cast Connections over in the Magic Kingdom Parking Lot. It's where they sell the old merchandise heavily discounted and the damaged merchandise at 75% off--only for cast members. ;) I once got a Mulan figurine there and the only thing wrong with her was that she had a pencil mark that came right off! I know I spent a bunch of money on stuff during my Programs (100 lbs worth according to UPS when I went to ship it home--multiple boxes of course) but if you do it right, you can get everything you want and still come home with money in your account.
Merchandise will be fun. You'll probably get to wear a pin trading lanyard, too! Be warned, Pin Trading can be addictive and dangerous to your bank account.

Warning came too late; I've been pin collecting since my first visit at 4 and trading every year I go! I already have quite the collection  I can't wait to be to be the cast member trading them and making people happy! I'll definitely be visiting that store!
Thanks everyone! :D

Neat! That would be an amazing experience! My husband and I are going there in February for our honeymoon. Let me know where you'll be working and I will see if I can find you.

Congrats! I worked at Disney World (in Epcot more specifically) for a few years and I loved it! I live in Orlando very close to Disney World. I made so many friends from all around the world who were part of the Disney College Program. I think you are really going to enjoy it!

Congrats! I wonder where you will be. The one thing I hated was, they do not tell you your actual work location till well after you arrive. I remember having to take a hearing test after I arrived and was like where the hell are you putting me, that I need to have my hearing checked. Turns out it was Pirates of the Caribbean. I also kinda remember thinking that training/orientation sucked. It was sooo long. There was orientation to the program, orientation for the specific park, orientation for whatever housing you are sent too, orientation to you department and then more training on your specific location depending on your position.
The best part - Free admission and discounts :D and yes, you must check out that discounted employee store. The 1st time I worked there, it was just a tent in the parking lot. 10 years later they had 2 buildings - one for stuff people left behind and a bigger one for overstock? I dont remember but I think it was all new stuff whereas the other shop was lost and found stuff and damaged items. Unless it changed since 2007.
