Title: Design a pony - Do you color yours?
Post by: 01mlplover on June 17, 2015, 11:55:35 AM: I recently bought a few of the G4 design a ponies and started wondering if other people color theirs or leave them blank? Also I'd love to see pics of your colored ponies :)

Post by: Melodia on June 17, 2015, 12:43:18 PM: I painted my RD to try to make G1 Firefly. I found a Princess Luna one yesterday at a thrift store that was all covered in stickers & marker, I think I will paint her too, or try to fix her up :)

I did luna XD its not very pretty as this was my first attempt painting something that wasn't paper XD

I did Luna in 2013 but wouldn't do it again without actually using real paint. Permanent markers were too messy.

I thrifted a DAP Dash and she was super scribbled. They didn't even try to design. I'm disappointed they didn't make the markers that came with them washables so you could color again and again. But this scribble level wasn't going anywhere, so I decided to make a Masquerade with full body & hair paint and the eye changed to metallic green to represent the "TE" aspect. I chose glitter yellow because...........glitter.

*The glitter looks a little uneven in the photo because the camera doesn't catch all of it right. It's a mix of crystal shimmer & yellow.
These things are a blast to paint! I'd encourage anyone to redo one into another character if you find a used one. That Firefly is really fun, if I find another at some point, I think that's who I'd pick.

Ive always considered repainting the Funko vinyls but never looked twice at these figures. I see them on clearance pretty often, now Ill have to pick one up and try! I do love a good repaint :)

Post by: Iris Patch on June 30, 2015, 03:42:30 PM: I started painting my Rainbow Dash into a Daring Do but I stopped in the middle and the paint's all scuffed and unfinished and gross from being moved around a lot since then (seriously, I started painting like two years ago, oops). So I think I need to strip the paint off and try again. Will likely take it in a different direction, as I don't really like Daring Do or Rainbow Dash for that matter. I also bought an extra Luna to repaint show-accurate but I never ended up getting around to it. :blush:
