Maybe this is a stupid question but i am a newby.
How does cancer on ponies start why do they get it?
And if the pony has cancer can you stop it from spreading all over her body? And frim spreading to other ponies?

I think the most agreed upon theory is a deterioration of the plastic. Many people swear by boiling the pony to keep the cancer from spreading. There might also be a debate on whether it is contagious or not. I'm sure other members will have better answers than I, but that's my understanding at least.

It depends on the type. BlackCurtains once looked at cancer spots under a microscope and found some sort of dead bacteria in them. I think anything that disinfects a pony without ruining it would work. Boiling would not be a good choice IMHO. Most people who aren't experienced in caring for ponies usually ruin them by trying to boil them. I prefer just a diluted bleach bath and cleanign them inside and out.

It looks to me like the bacteria is actually in the plastic itself, in which case, I worry that a disinfectant wouldn't reach it. Not really sure what to do except boil it (although I haven't actually done anything with mine)

I agree with SDS. IT is a breaking down of the plastic over time.
Also, mold causes dark spots on the pony, and regrind looks like cancer, but is lighter!

Ieh that video scares me!
I am getting a pony that has 3 really small spots (darkisch) but the sender had er for a looooong time and they didn't spread so i don't think it is cancer.
But that cancer on the video looks nasty! Hope there will be a cure for it some day soon!

maybe there should be pony "oncologists"- someone we can send our ponies with cancer to so they can research :P

I'm personally not as concerned about pony cancer as I probably should be. I keep thinking it must be slow-growing, but I may be totally wrong about that.

That video was totally awesome! Okay, it's not awesome that ponies have cancer, but it's actually quite interesting to see, what it looks like and to learn what could cause it... I'm amazed!

...Oh god. Wow. Now I'm not sure how to clean up Fifi if she had one. (But she's in decent condition with no physical damage...) For now, if I have a child (a girl no less), my G1s are off-limits, ihihi~ ^^;;;

Has anyone ever tried that, actually? Curing cancer spots with a knife and some sculpey? Might work. I mean, if it's possible to fix entire chewed heads with it, why not, right?

Well, I mean, removing it and filling the hole would certainly get rid of it! I suspect boiling would kill it though, assuming it's even still alive.

I think it's pretty awesome actually. Not good for the ponies, but still... I mean, bacteria and other microscopic things are everywhere anyway, so I find it kind of cool that somethings actually living inside plastic.
