Title: Collectors of dark/creepy/gothy dolls?
Post by: Zapper on April 26, 2022, 03:40:45 AM
Hi, I was wondering in the Rainbow High thread if any dark themed dolls had died out. Are there any dolls you have (playline, collector or else) that satisfy the darkly inclined folks?
I remember Bleeding Edge Goths, Monster High, certain Pullips or Momokos that were influenced by the Goth subculture, inspired by Gothic fiction or just "dark".

Mind you, I am not talking about monster dolls allthough I mentioned MH. I am strictly talking about certain looks or styles. Morticia Addams instead of Bride of Frankenstein. So dolls like Living Dead Dolls are not on my radar.

Do you have any? It would be nice to have a thred just for goth-y dolls to combat the sparkly, rainbowy mainstream a bit ;) You can also post stock images of dolls you know of but don't own yourself.

Also, are there any current dolls out there that still look like that? I would love to know.

I don't have any but I'm here for pics :D

I also enjoy gothic-style and dark/creepy custom dolls but I'm not sure if you wanted to exclude customs. I mean, I don't have any of those either but I could link some pics from my DA favourites or something. :P

I have the first set of Little Apple Dolls...  that's probably in the right category...

Please share any pics of the dolls you have or love. I was expecting this thread to get a little more picture-heavy.

Bloody Red Hood (https://pullipsandjunk.com/pullips-company/pullip/pullip-release-list-part-2-2009-present-releases/pullip-creators-label-bloody-red-hood/) - in this review by PaJ you can see just how detailed she is and what outfit options she has. I love Perrault's Little Red Riding Hood and am quite a fan of fantasy that uses it as inspiration, like Company of Wolves or The Path, so when I saw this doll back in the day I fell in love. She was my first Pullip and while she is not Goth, I consider her a little dark. The name says it all.

I also have some Bleeding Edge Goths. I find it weird there is so little about them on the internet. I'll have to dig up my photos or take new ones ;)
I always loved Storm and could never get a hold of any of her dolls. My favorites were Evening Storm (http://venivididolli.blogspot.com/2016/08/overview-bleeding-edge-goths.html) and Back To School (https://bleedingedgegothdolls.blogspot.com).

A little obscure, but I'll put forth Girls' Society - Beauty

As far as I know, she was the only doll made for this line, by the company 'CuttieM' and she originally retailed for $120. You can find her head and outfit on places like Taobao to this day if you know where to look but the doll herself complete is pretty hard to find ;)

Ooooh Crystal, she's gorgeous! I love the box art especially.

Crystal-Sushi, how cool! I love those colors and the box art is nice and dark.

Here are my most "Goth" pullips.  I can't take pictures that do them justice.  The lighting is terrible and I don't want to carry them all over the house.

They are
(Back) Siela & Kuhn
(Front) Bloody Red Hood, Alura and Noir Regeneration.

Seila was a grail that I snapped up when she was re-released. But, I love them all.  Red needs her cape clasp resewn.  Noir's old wig was a mess and Kuhn I redressed for fun.
