I carry an epi-pen for my son. And asthma inhalers for me and my daughter. Doctor's note and prescription information is what I carry when we fly. Also, do not put epi-pens and asthma inhalers in check baggage because of the temperature fluctuations. They will weaken the potency of the epinephrine. Knock on wood, we haven't had any problems.
And always, always make sure any medication is in your carry on! You never know what'll happen, and your luggage may get lost.
