I made a pony cake last year! Needless to say I need a lot more practice but here are some pictures of it:

I'm starting to love the idea of blind bag ponies rather than brushables. Thanks for posting! I love the crystal pony empire  ;)
Super cute! I've always wanted to try a rainbow layer cake! Did you just use box mix and tint it?

No box mix, standard butter/flour/sugar/eggs sponge recipe then split into batches and tinted. Best to use the paste or gel colourings (I used Dr Oetker tubes if you have them over there?) as the liquid type is too weak and dilutes the mixture too much ;)

Paul
Thanks for the tips!

I have!

And I also have some pony biscuits - again using vintage cookie cutters :)

Those cookies are too cute! My girls would have a blast decorating them!

I had this one made for my daughter a few years ago.

This is really cute and would actually be pretty easy. I think they'd like the whole set up.

Thanks everybody for pitching me some ideas!

Those are some good cakes! I did one for my daughter for her birthday last year. Not sure if she is going to want another one yet. It was nightmare moon. Will have to find a picture of it :)

A bit of a cheat, but for my daughter's 4th, we got a Costco cake with a rainbow, and stuck a few of the blind bag ponies in the frosting. She loved it!

Does anyone remember when the MLP Arena had that cake contest?
The ppl who entered that should post the cakes, there were so many fun ones that I remember. I LOVE that fancy rainbow-inside cake. The pastel colors and many layers are so beautiful. It's extremely "MLP" all the way through. (It must of been a lot of work separating & dyeing in different bowls!)

My cake was on there too but sadly it was a photo with a kind of poor camera so Pony Party Surprise Cake looks a little garish.

The Surprise on top is fake.
It's great to have a cake with BB's or G3s or really anypony on there because that way it's a gift & a cake in 1. After the cake is done, they collect the pony & then those ponies will always have special meaning for them because they were the "cake ponies" from that year.

UMM NO, this is amazing!!! I would freak out if I got that cake  like literally lol. The pony really looks like a real pony  the eyes are perfect and everything. Great job!!

So many beautiful cakes here! I've had 1 MLP cake myself. My mom surprised me on my 18th birthday (I was home from school sick) with a cake decorated with little breezies from g3.. I loved that cake, it was an awesome surprise. Breezies are so cute. I don't collect g3 but I wish I had all the breezies! The ones from my cake are the only ones I have. :)

I've had great fun doing elaborate designs and artwork on gingerbread with royal icing, and you can then go on to use it as a cake topper. Royal icing is a little more flexible art-wise than the usual kind, I would wager!

I made a Pinkie Pie cake for my 18th Birthday last December. I think this design would also look lovely with different ponies such as G1 Posey, G2 Butterfly or G4 Fluttershy. I recommend Ponyville or blind bag figures though, I was originally going to use Baby Cotton Candy but I was terrified her hair would catch fire and it felt weird to take the decals off the cake before lighting the candles. So I went with Pinkie and it turned out lovely :3

Oh wow! That Luna is so detailed and amazing! That must have taken quite some time!
I love the cutie mark idea too. I was just thinking about doing some circle sugar cookies and doing different cutie marks on each of them.

Thank you, I hope to make a fancier one soon, and I might make a Rainbow Dash one for my sisters birthday (if she asks for a pony cake) :3

I never made a pony cake but I just love this thread!

Edit: well I made weeks ago a wedding pony cake, but with cold porcelain
It is for a Valentines contest of another forum. I made the wedding of the G3s ponies Strawberry Surprise and Denim Blue :)
