Happy Fall for everyone in the Northern hemisphere! :hearts:

Autumn Fires
By Robert Louis Stevenson

In the other gardens
   And all up in the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
   See the smoke trail!

Pleasant summer over,
   And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
   The grey smoke towers.

Sing a song of seasons!
   Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
   Fires in the fall!

This is my, and many others, favorite season! Where I live, I don't get to experience the leaves changing, but it does get cooler and many birds migrate here from colder areas. Of course the biggest thing that happens where I live is the influx of tourists :P Prices have already been set high for their arrival and bathing suits can be seen for sale along side coats for the locals.

My fridge is stocked with pumpkin spice, I have washed my fuzzy socks, my fall candles are displayed and soon I can open the windows to let in the fresh autumn air :coffee:

What is your favorite thing about this season? :)

The changing of the leaves is beautiful, the darkness is cosy. Lighting up the home with cosy little lamps everywhere (hey, electric bill! :hiya:) and candles. The air is colder and feels fresh and clean. I don't like when all the leaves have fallen though, it gets so barren and gloomy.

The best part of the fall is that my husband and I met irl in september and got officially together on november. Also his birthday is in november.

Happy Fall to you BC and everyone else too! (Thank you for the beautiful poem.) :heart:

Besides winter, this is my second favorite season!  :joy: I was born in September. Although my spouse was born in May, he only loves autumn and winter. :heart:

I love the autumn colors, the cooling days, the arrival of the first frosts, the darkness, the fresh air and I can see the starry sky more clearly! :heart: It's fun to be able to walk among the rustling fallen leaves and it's wonderful when they are everywhere!
:leaves:

I have also displayed candles and soft warming blankets (which also have autumn colors). I already have a light chain in one window. I'm going to put an orange string of lights out in the front yard very soon.  ^.^

 :wow: I almost forgot that now I can start the heating season with firewood! It's a relaxing and nice thing to do. The electricity bill may stay lower this winter, because now we have a woodshed full of firewood.

I'm not a huge fan of autumn, but the first half of it here in the UK isn't too bad. The colours are pretty and I like the crunchy leaves.
The second half, which is usually into November, is rain rain rain grey rain, and that's nasty. But right now it's not too bad.

my fave season <3 I love when the really hot weather goes away but its warm, the harvest and all the fruit in the hedgerow (I love blackberry picking) all the trees turning red gold and brown plus my birthday is in this season :) and this in my fave poem about it by John Keets
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
   Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
   With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
   And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
      To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
   With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
      For summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.

Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?
   Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
   Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;
Or on a half-reap'd furrow sound asleep,
   Drows'd with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
      Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers:
And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
   Steady thy laden head across a brook;
   Or by a cyder-press, with patient look,
      Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.

Where are the songs of spring? Ay, Where are they?
   Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,—
While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,
   And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;
Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
   Among the river sallows, borne aloft
      Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;
   Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
   The red-breast whistles from a garden-croft;
      And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.
