Wow Minty Magic!  That's really good!  That's what Hasbro should've gave us!

I bought the Shining Adventures pack at Target and added on some of their markings. The toys are very high quality, but it really bugs me that they are lacking the stockings and blazes that make the characters them! I kind of wanted to try and remove the molded hair on the boys and attemp to root them, but then I wasn’t feeling that ambitious, so I just added some glitter to their hair to help separate it from the body some.

I saw the small unicorn party set of brushables at Walmart the other day, but I didn’t pick them up. So far I think the styling size ponies are the best quality for the money.

Those look great!  Hitch especially looks way better, probably because he does have so many markings. I've been thinking about trying this, too, probably just with Sunny though.  Seeing how well yours turned out makes me want to do it even more.
Thanks to Shimmlight for the new avatar image

They look much better with their cute,  horsey lil markings.

Absolutely love them with their markings, it adds so much to them! I wish Hasbro wouldn't approve character designs they have no intention of representing correctly.

"Sure, give Twilight 3 hair colors lol"

"Sure, give the new characters socks and blazes lol"

Sigh.

I still love them but I can't get over the red boy's expression.
What is that?

He looks like his friend in class just walked by and farted in his face, but the class has to be silent because they're taking a test, so he's just giving him the really!? dying-inside look from across the room.

Idk why that was the first scenario that popped into my head, but it's all I can see now. XD

Maybe Hitch is to blame.

I do wish they had their markings, as well. :(
Holding out hope for later iterations, as well as real hair for the boys. (Seriously, the girl gets real short hair but boys get plastic bricks? XD)

Thanks for the kind words everyone! :) It seems like we are already going the m6 direction with the toys where there will be a lot of re releases, so as I inevitably end up with duplicates I might play around with the smaller sized figures at some point too.

You summed up my feelings exactly! UGH like the wrong hair colors on Twilight and Rainbow Dash were annoying, but passable. But these new characters have such distinct markings that without them, they don’t even look like the same character. I’m not a huge stickler for show accuracy, but even as a kid I wanted my toys to look like their animated counterpart at least a little.

I'm not overly concerned with show accuracy either but a MLP show usually is created with the goal of selling toys in mind, so I don't know why they bothered to design characters with markings that aren't going to be on the toys to begin with?

I was excited to finally have horsey markings on MLP charas, only to find out the toys wouldn't get them! I was a bit bummed.

Yeah! It's very bizarre that they even bothered to have those markings on them. I wish the toys had them. :(

I found a Sing and Glow Izzy plush today. Her head really does look that big.

I took a short video of her singing.  I think she says something about unicorn horns but I can't seem get the video to work here.  It just shows up as another picture.

I went to a Target to look for the $3 play packs and any G5 toys and there was absolutely nothing!! I was heartbroken! I even checked in the toy aisles for tags for future products and couldn't find anything...

I found the unicorn celebration pack at a different Walmart than mine, but left it for now. I'm waiting to see how many different sets we get before I just jump in on any more products to prevent duplicates.

I found a couple of the Play Packs at Target but not the invisible ink book that someone else mentioned.

I did find this Princess Petals at Walmart though.
