I don't know about all the differences, but I think the first one had all black ball-chain earrings while the 2nd edition had black/silver ones...

Thanks. Mine's a second edition then. haha

The main difference, the one that bothers me, is that the first release had the gradient done in the plastic, the plastic itself went from mostly see-through to white, and the second release has the white painted on. This means that the joints will get scratches really fast as well as the arms and legs if they come in contact with anything mildly sharp. Most of the Spectras I saw today already had scratches on their legs. :(

I didn't realize the actual plastic was white on the first edition...that's cool.  The paint on mine has held up well.  But I don't re-pose them very much.  I take pictures from time to time, but for the most part they just hang out in the doll house.

I have two first edition Spectras, and they are both definitely painted.  I must have missed out on the cool ones!

As for Nefera and Operetta, I saw them in Targets in New Hampshire and Massachusetts across four stores, so they are definitely hitting New England!!  Yay!

Just curious, but what country does it say she's from on her back?

The plastic is molded clear, and both were painted white. It's a matter of factory differences, as the original were from one factory, the 2nd round was from another (China & Indonesia, I forget which one came from what). But these are just minor differences. The white gradient is painted on both, but the originals paint was perhaps a little better from that one factory, since it didn't come off as easily. Also the gradient was longer on the 2nd, causing it to go down almost to the shoes before fading, where as the original was shorter. The factory that produced the 2nd ones also was able to mold in a more transparent plastic, as her hands, feet, bag and Rheune were all considerably less cloudy and more see through. But the application was the same.

Thank you so much guys.
So glad you like Dacian

I thought the green faux fur would look great, wind blown and slighty sizzled from her fire breathing.

I have a question - do you guys think we'll be getting another release of Toralei? I really want her but I was never able to find her in stores :(

Toralei is still coming out in new assortments and hasn't been out for too long when compared to some of the older releases still shipping out to stores, so hopefully you'll be able to find her eventually. :) The newest cases coming out contain 2x Nefera, 2x Operetta, 1x Toralei, and 1x 2.0 Cleo.

Thank you!! I was afraid she was a one-time release - looks like I don't have to worry about it :D

This is an older photoset I took last year and never uploaded. How do you pros get rid of all those shadows even with good light sources?
