The CGI looks, to me, like the bratz cartoon from way back when. I dunno... There's an issue with that kind of animation... If it doesn't have enough of a budget, it doesn't look good.
I really hope they don't switch over to this CGI. It feels like a very bad direction. :/
The box is the same, just she herself is taller. I think so, at least. I'd have to double check to make sure, but I definitely didn't notice anything being different.

I was poking around and saw some great pics of them posed in different ways. Picklepud for example poses them so well and her pics are amazing! I just can't seem to pose mine. I feel like the joints are so tight and that I may snap one by mistake. I tend to leave them almost exactly has they are posed in the box.

WOW! I wasn't sold on the new fashion packs but they are amazing! I may finally have a use for the Gloom Beach Cleo, Cawdeen (which I think would be stunning in Toralei's outfit) and Frankie I have. I don't like redressing the signature dolls but I love using the fashion packs for the SS, Gloom Beach and DT dolls ^_^

As for Clawdeen + Howleen, I like Clawdeen's outfit and I'd want Howleen just for the novelty of a tinier doll, but I'm really not feeling this Clawdeen. :(
My boyfriend managed to get me 1600 Clawdeen. He was looking for Draculara, but he couldn't find her. I was thrilled anyway because that was one of the first things I saw when I woke up from my surgery. My doctor and the nurses were amazed that he was carrying her around the hospital outside of a bag. I love my boyfriend.
This raises my MH total to 8. I am still working on fleshing out the basics and getting more Dracularas.
My Nefera has really tight joints, to the point that I'm afraid to bend her knees. I've been trying to loosen them up a bit with hot water and a little coaxing but it's not doing much. The ball at the end of her forearm peg also snapped off in it's socket right out of the package. I wasn't even trying to remove her arm and my heart sank when I heard a snapping sound.
I used a little clear nailpolish to tighten the connection and it stays in just fine. It doesn't bother me too much, since most of my older dolls don't have the ball to keep them in anyway, but it's still something that worries me with future releases.

Since you shop online I've had the best success with Amazon for the dolls. I made a wishlist with the dolls I want and I check it a few times a day. Usually at some point all the dolls wind up there with normal retail prices and sometimes with free super saver shipping ^_^

And 20 dolls! I probably won't get that many *crosses fingers* but I've already told myself they can have one of my bookshelves...but I have big bookcases, and these dolls are super skinny! I could fit 10-15, easy. But I am very finicky about what I like, and I don't like buying doubles, so maybe I can keep it from getting out of control like the ponies did.

Toralei is still coming out in new assortments and hasn't been out for too long when compared to some of the older releases still shipping out to stores, so hopefully you'll be able to find her eventually. :) The newest cases coming out contain 2x Nefera, 2x Operetta, 1x Toralei, and 1x 2.0 Cleo.

Yeah, I said I wasn't going to get duplicates either...but I end up NEEDING every incarnation of Ghoulia and Draculaura, lol!
The plastic is molded clear, and both were painted white. It's a matter of factory differences, as the original were from one factory, the 2nd round was from another (China & Indonesia, I forget which one came from what). But these are just minor differences. The white gradient is painted on both, but the originals paint was perhaps a little better from that one factory, since it didn't come off as easily. Also the gradient was longer on the 2nd, causing it to go down almost to the shoes before fading, where as the original was shorter. The factory that produced the 2nd ones also was able to mold in a more transparent plastic, as her hands, feet, bag and Rheune were all considerably less cloudy and more see through. But the application was the same.
Yeah, i have both the original and the 2nd (my 2nd is wearing the fashion pack which i finally found at walmart!). I haven't really noticed that much of a difference to be honest in the quality - I've only read about issues other people have with it, but I mostly display them and don't really play them a lot, so they get minimal wear and tear. I prefer the height on the original (in terms of where the gradient starts on her leg), but the clarity in the newer spectra's is definitely better looking than the original.

Just wanted to come here and say Mattel is sending me a replacement Nefera since the arm broke on the one I bought a couple nights ago!! I am VERY pleased with their customer service, wow! :) I just hope the quality on her makeup and such is as nice as the one I picked out for myself. Very happy camper right now!
On a side note - would anyone be interested in buying a Nefera with a broken off ball socket?

I know I could probably get a replacement, though I love the face on mine and I've already seen some of them with wonk eye that I'd hate to get one that didn't look quite as nice. Whee! Just talked to a rep and they're sending out a new doll for me as well. I'm really impressed with their customer service and can't praise them enough. I have over twenty dolls and I have yet to have one break on me in any way so I felt like a total goober to have it happen when I kind of overspent with AD just to get the latest releases early.
Thank you for posting your experience A_G. It really gave me the push I needed, where I probably would have just sucked it up and remained silent otherwise. I urge everyone to give Mattel a ring if you find yourself with a broken doll. The whole process was a breeze and they seem more than willing to set things right.

At my Walmart I was looking at the tags and noticed something odd. The Cupid doll had her own tag with a price of $21.97 and there was a separate tag for Sweet 1600 Doll Assm priced at $22.97. There isn't anything new coming out for that line right? I checked out Mandy's post (which is an amazing reference guide, thanks for that). I can't understand why it would be just a dollar off and why Cupid isn't mixed in with the rest of the dolls?
I figured I'd see the experts on that ^.^
Finally found Skull Shores in my local Asda! *dances* Draculaura's anchor heels and earings just....eeeeee....Just had to share as we've never had them in our Asda, and I'm hoping this means they'll be stocking Cupid come february. :D

I wasn't going to get Lagoona because I don't want too many duplicates but I saw her makeup and fell in love.I have to say I had the same feeling. I swore I wouldn't buy duplicates, but then I see them and fall in love with their faces . And I also swore I won't buy that many but almost all the new dolls are amazing. the good thing is I don't love them all. I have my faves and that's what I'm sticking to, I hope.

FWIW - pricing is subject to store. I have yet to see her in stores, but of the ones that have done the reset and have cupid tags, I've seen both the $18 price, and the $21 price.

The Boots website in the UK has the Sweet 1600 dolls, CAM, Operetta & Nefera listed but not yet in stock. At least we know they'll be stocking them!

You are correct, they are not LE and the basic dolls go for around $18.
Apparently, the amount of dolls seem to be released slowly or in small amounts so they can be a bit hard to find at first.
Give it a little time and the dolls will become more easy to find and the prices will drop. They already are dropping and online prices have dropped from $80+ to now in the $30-$40 range. Pretty soon the dolls will be easier to find in stores and the prices will be more affordable online, just takes a little time & patience. :)
I personally do not pay more than retail price for the dolls.. so I obviously have to wait awhile to find them. Some people do not like waiting, have the money and would prefer to buy them now even for really high prices. So since people are buying them for those high prices.. they are being put on sale for those high prices. Theres also people buying mass amounts of the dolls to sell online to make money.
This is mostly true, but with some dolls the price still hasn't come down, at least with peple shipping to EU. For instance Abbey as been out forever and she's still nearly impossible to get online at a reasonable price. Luckily for me she showed up in Estonia so maybe I can coax my boyfriend to get it for me as a gift. :P

To those of us who have been waiting for Walmart to reset their toy aisles, it looks like mine finally has. :D I went there yesterday, and OF COURSE they were already out of stock of ALL the new dolls. They had the outfits though, and I grabbed Spectra's!
I was wondering if anyone has an extra doll stand, or an idea to make a new one? (I'm a horribly uncrafty person though.) My 1600 Lala came without the bottom part to her stand, and since she's such a pretty doll it's a shame to leave her flopping on my shelf. :( I really need to get that fixed, and it doesn't look like Mattel sells extra stands on their site. Since these are the first dolls I've collected, I have no experience with stands.

You are not alone, I don't like it either. It makes me think of scarification and that freaks me out... natural scarring I don't have a problem with but this does not really look natural to me. Also on all the pics I have seen on her eyes seem really :muffin: Pony.

Howleen is ADORABLE, and Toralei is ok, but sometimes when I see Operetta, Cupid, and some of the CAM sets, I feel like MH is eventually just going to devolve and be a bunch of pale/skin-colored bodies with funky hair.
I mean, look at the dragon-girl set. That could have been AMAZING, but they went for caucasian skin with green accents. It looks like the only place they are willing to take risks on now are the CAM add-on sets, probably because they think if the made the full doll, it wouldn't sell. But the three-eyed girl has the darkest blue skin we've seen yet, the bee girl is awesomly freaky, and I would pay SO much money to have a complete skeleton girl, with thighs and upper arms. (Making the torso would be an issue.)
I mean, I've only been into MH for a couple of weeks, and I understand that as an adult collector I value the not-so-pretty more than the target market does, but the fan-voted new doll coming out looks like an undead Lea Michele. I hope they keep the eyes pure white, because that's really the most unusual thing about her.
So I just hope the robot doll looks totally not-human and the gargoyle doll has DARK gray skin. And that the human-based monsters continue to have the darker skintones -- there's enough caucasian dolls with pink lips out there, KWIM?

I mentioned something about the stands in the last thread on the old Arena. My Ghoulia came with a lime green stand, and Abbey came with an icy blue one. Gil had the teal. I didn't find Lagoona, a friend out of state snagged her for me. She came with the teal as well, but my friend let me have the pink one that came with hers (she ordered her own from AD). And Ravie mentioned that her Gil came with an orange stand.
So I'm inclined to think that the initial run came with individual colors, but everything after is the teal? The last three signature dolls I've purchased (Toralei, Operetta, and Nefera) all came with black stands. I'm wondering if black will be the standard color for stands, with basic lines coming with another color. Not a big deal, since they all go into a box, along with the brushes. I prefer to display the dolls posed, without stands. But the individual colors was a cute touch.
Ok, I officially need more shelves to display my dolls. I'm in the process of posing/hair styling everyone, and moving them around to make room for the newbies... and I don't think they're all going to fit. I'm going to make risers for now, to try to fit more per shelf. But even that will stretch it, once the two double pack exclusives hit in the next month or so!

I think I'm going to do the same thing...hopefully making some risers will help my space issue a little bit! But all the new releases are not going to help matters any, haha.
I keep meaning to buy shelves for mine, but I end up buying more dolls instead!! :lol:lol same here. I need to get rid of this mini bed and my plushies in the corner of my room so I can start looking for a curio cabinet to put there.

I have a question. I am new to this toy line. Are Azura and Cupid new releases, or older ones? Because they are super expensive on eBay but you know how eBay sellers are like sometimes....crazy, LOL.

Since Cupid is part of the Sweet 1600 line, do you think they'll release her again in the future? I'm not loving her hair, and seems it's a mess to deal with...or is it just the one release since she's a store exclusive?

I would email mattel and complain. they sold a defective device, and they should be able to make it right for you :)
This! I'm sure they'd send you a replacement stand or a coupon, Mattel is very good with their customer support.
I just emailed Mattel the other day regarding two of our stands....one belong to Gill and the other to DOTD Frankie.....guess we'll see what they say. :)

That is correct. Cupid comes 6 in a case, and it's only her in there. According th the FB page, she's supposed to be available in February. So we're guessing some Walmart's put out early shipments. Also, a lot of people have been having problems with the store pickup option, with the site saying the product is out, but then going to the store and finding her.

Am I the only one that feels an overwhelming sense of "meh" towards the Sweet 1600 line? I mean they all look pretty enough, but compared to the rest of the line they just don't stand out. Their outfits, especially Frankie's, just do not translate well from art to doll and just makes me think of prom rather than "a high fashion" birthday party.
Eh...maybe it is just me, I don't know.

I don't have opperetta yet, but to me looking at pics online it looks like operettas face is alot more rounded than ghoulias. ghoulias seems more angular and looks like she has higher cheek bones more angular chin.. So i donno i kinda think they gave operetta her own face mold.

Yes, I have seen them in person and I own Draculaura, but they just did not draw me in as I thought they would. I really wanted to like them, but something about them just puts me of. I dunno....like I said, I think it is just me.

Talk about Lucky again!! I went to a different Target with a friend today, and this Target's MH Section was more cleared than the other one, but I found Operetta and Nefera!! Luckly I grabbed Operetta in a heartbeat, as for Nefera, still haven't grown to like her yet, so I left her there. That's another one to cross off my list. Too bad they didn't have Abbey @,@;

I was going off his interest in the culinary arts stated in his bio and his diary :) I see Heath being more of the male version of Mad Science Lagoona. And if I remember correctly, that was class that he opened up the box in and got trapped, according to... Lagoona's second diary? Must re-read.
I love boy dolls, and the boys in this franchise especially. I get the reasoning behind not releasing a ton of them at once, but I'd like to see them appear with a bit more frequency. Heath is an especial want of mine, because I love his skin and hair combo. Plus, he's such a part of the main character's little world. He really does seem to appear more frequently than Deuce or even some of the newer characters. Since they recently listed his monster heritage during the last Friday 13th (fire elemental), I'm hoping he'll be produced soon.

Liv wigs fit them wonderfully! They do have the plastic peg, it just takes a little elbow grease! :D
That doesn't sound like bad luck - sounds like a manufacturing defect. I'd try Mattel again, but mention that you'd understand if they didn't want to send you another replacement, but that you wanted them to be aware of the issue.

Eh, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I have close to 60 dolls from this line, and I've only had one mishap. I'm not discounting the issues others have had (and I have a few dolls who definitely worry me sometimes, when I re-dress them), but the number of issues vs. number of dolls sold is pretty big. Also, if you plan on keeping them MIB, it's not like you'll be posing or redressing them :)

I just use warm water.
With some that have major hard head, it takes a couple of washes.

I'm so disappointed with my SS dolls, the Gil that I picked up before Christmas has glue on his face and my Ghoulia's glasses were broken right out of the box. :( I was able to get some of the glue off Gil with acetone, but some of it is on his eyebrow.

We payed about $50 for the bed + Lagoona and were so excited. Not only did we want the Hydration Station, but my lil sis is a huge Goona fan and had been wanting the doll. So we opened it up and a few minutes later, my sister and I were sitting Lagoona down with the MH girls when I hear a 'snap'! When I saw what happened, I went :shocked: Her lower leg snapped off so now she's missing a foot and recently, the leg was lost. I'm sure we can find it, but I don't know what to do. I stare at my almost-complete DT line and get so mad.
There's no way I'm paying inflated evilBay prices because she is a 'rare and special doll'. But I heard about the broken Nefera being replaced ... could this work with my DT 'Goona and how do I get a replacement?

the skeleton pack doesn't come with thighs or upper arms, so just a torso is not going to make you a full doll :(

I have noticed the differences as well in the Abbey's, as soon as I saw pics from the ones in the Toralei assortment, I thought they looked different. I'm pretty sure they're from different factories, so it's just differences between the two.
Alaso, my original 1st edition Abbey has the periwinkle stand, not the teal one. And I feel like I've only ever seen periwinkle - it was her box color after all, an they used to match those colors for the signature. Are you sure you didn't mix it up? Or perhaps yours came with the wrong stand?

watch out with the stand... I posted about my conversation with a mattel rep - they said they don't make the stands, so they can't replace them. maybe with the broken piece, they'll just send you a new doll, though!

Went to Walmart today expecting to find nothing since the website said they had nothing but the the basic dolls in stock (yeah sure you have those instock), and pretty much nothing else. So i was walking down the doll isle and i didn't see anything Monster High popping out at me no black boxes or anything. Then i desided to take another close looks and I found the New Fashion i was like "YEAY!" its no the new dolls but finally something NEW I dont already have! I grabbed the box and then took the two extra fashions out and then went right to the check out lol. So Happy to Finally Dress my Extra Dolls I bought purposely for those Fashion. I love Spectra's the Best, and Cleo's is so Pretty.

Mattel doesn't actually even make the dolls themselves so that doesn't make sense. They send the designs to different factories in China and Indonesia and they make the toys. Of course it could be they have a different source for the stands that specializes in just the stands. Of course even if that was the case it is likely they don't deal with the general public so nothing you can do there either.

Does anyone here have an extra set ( or 2) of the gloom beach 5 pack? or have you seen them in stores recently? I saw them about 3 weeks ago, and passed. Now I'm not sure if that was a good idea. Her lips look smaller than her usual style and it looks like she just has fangs and she isn't drooling with them lol. Does anyone know a good way to dye dolly clothes? I have an outfit for him (mostly) the only thing I need to do is sew his jacket and neck ruffle things.
it all depends on the fabric. Make sure the fabric is dyable first, and be careful if there are multiple fabrics that are a part one one item because they will all dye differently (take dye more or less, so one part might come out dark purple while the other lavender) and then just dye it like you would normal clothing, in a pot of dye. Just follow the instructions.
You can buy fabric dyes, like Rit dye, at any store near the laundry stuff(grocery store) or craft section (craft/super store) of your store. It doesn't matter if you get the powder or liquid kind, but if you get the liquid kind in a bottle, it's easier to use a little and then save the rest for later, while with powder, once you open the bag, it's a bit of a mess.
The Target near me has restocked with a lot of the rag dolls, they're so cute but I'd prefer if they had the normal dolls :P

Just received my SS Ghoulia's stock from SwordPony. Since my Ghoul Spirit Ghoulia is still in customs I dressed my DotD Lala in the outfit and she looks lovely in it. She immediately looks sweeter when out of her DotD dress. :)

I also spotted some Abbeys, Toraleis and Spectras down at the toystore today. Holy cow the quality has gone down! T__T None of the Abbeys had legwarmers that covered the shoes, and all of the spectras had badly scratched legs.. I'm soo happy I ordered my dolls early!

Somewhat urgent.. I found an eBay auction that I think is using a stolen pic from a user here. I have just now PMed the user, but they are in the UK and offline. The seller on eBay is in the USA and has just 1 feedback. The auction is for two Monster High dolls.

I don't know if those are even supposed to be scars on her face. And I have no problems with scars on humans AT ALL! I have a lot of scars myself, especially on my arm because of my not so happy past. I like scars on humans, they tell their story and I even like how they look. I really should have made it more clear what I wanted to say...

LilSpark - That might be considered trypophobia. It's a phobia of clusters of things and clusters of holes/depressions.
Operetta's scars only bother me a little, but I can't even stand to look at pancakes because of the little holes they get when you cook them. :S

Nope, no diary for her. Technically, she's part of the 1600 line; only the signature lines come with diaries. She does have a card that lists the type of stuff usually found at the back of the diaries, such as monster heritage, likes/dislikes etc. And the back of her box has a bit of info on her as well. Maybe that's what you were thinking of? Anyway, she's pretty bare-bones compared to the other 1600 dolls. No gift for Lala, and no brush.
Speaking of Lala, I finally broke down last week and purchased the DotD 3-pack off of Ebay. I justified it because it looks like it's no longer being sold in stores. And the auction I chose had a low starting bid. Granted, I payed almost as much as some of the other auctions on Ebay at the end of it all, but I felt better supporting someone who didn't seem as scalp-y. And when the set arrived today, I found all three had pretty much perfect faces. So I'm guessing the seller is probably a collector herself. Now all I need is SS Lala and I'm caught up until the two double pack exclusives become available.
What a shame T__T And you are so right! She does come off bare! No pet, no gift, no brush and no diary :S Her euro box have about...no info about her. So sad, she's such a pretty doll.

Every store I called the other day told me they didn't have *any* MH dolls... I don't know if the employees were all too lazy to really look or missed them or if they were serious. But it is stupid to not have a single MH doll if they carry the line!

I have to say, the inclusion of Frankie and especially Ghoulia miffs me just a bit. It seems like Abbey, Toralei or even Clawdeen would be better choices for a sports-oriented line. As my friend and I were discussing last night, with so many characters, they don't really need Frankie as the main character. And Ghoulia already has the "smart zombie" inversion- making her an athlete as well is just a little silly to me. The Physical Deaducation doll was cute, but I think that one sporty Ghoulia is enough.

Clawdeen has no diary, and what looks like a diary for Howleen is just her bio over and over again in various languages :( I imagine we'll get a diary here in the states though. Also, no stands for either of them, which is weird.
I hope the US releases at least come with stands. The newer stands aren't super well-made, but at least they're there. XD
I love Clawdeen's hair, purple for the win! <3 But her outfit is a little too simple for me. I may put her in her Fashion Pack suit whenever I get her. (I agree with the Flickr poster - one sock? She could at least have two socks. :P)
I don't know. The single sock gives her a JRPG heroine/popstar vibe. I think it works with the style of the line, and with Clawdeen's personal fashion sense.
I'm surprised there's not a single brush or stand in the box. But no fuss for me- I have a box full of brushes and stands, and I never use the stands. But I have a very sturdy shelf that the dolls pose on, with a back. So they're less prone to falling down. I imagine it's an annoyance to people who have a different set-up, or like the look of the stands.
Gah can't believe there are not stands!! I'm going to contact Mattell and say what's is going on with that!! Yes I've ended up with sPare stands, but paying that much you have a level of expectation....

Today seemed like a missed opportunity day (Only wanted Abbey, they had loads of everything BUY Abbey). Went to a few stores, each one had LOTS of Toraleis, Operettas and Neferas and a few 2,0 Cleos, like I struck gold at each store was searching for Abbey and no grail in any of the stores.
As for Nefera, every time I went to a store I kept picking her up to see if I really wanted her, each and every time was always no and put her back on the shelves until the last store before heading home. I guess I got used to her face and everything every time I looked so I picked her up and I'm actually kinda glad I did now. lol

Yeah, I'd kind of like something bigger or more display oriented. On the other hand, this set is still nice (and an improvement over nothing!) and it's expensive enough that I don't know how I'd ever pay for something MORE elaborate, haha.

As an update, at least for me, the TV special on today at 1pm "Why Do Ghouls Fall In Love", it shows Kung Fu Panda for the first half hour then other shows after. So, I don't see the Monster High special unless it will be on when the other shows are scheduled to be on. A trademark has been filed for a character named Threaderella. Apparently, it's the same person who does the MH trademark filing and she's listed as a doll. We don't know for a fact that it's actually AJ, but based on collector reaction to the prototype shown, and that it seems like a very weaver/spider kind of names, it's most likely her. Of course it's a rather stupid and "un-MH" kind of name, but it could always be a working name. It's not unusual for a company to trademark a name they might use, and then not use it.
If I had to guess on the anticipated release time of the Halloween dolls, I'd imagine we'll start to see them about a month or so before Halloween. They're meant to tie into a feature length film, so I imagine Mattel won't allow retailers to place early orders- but they'll want them trickling into stores before the film comes out.

Well you could say the same for the special with the Dawn of the Dance because before that special the only dolls in those outfits were Frankie, Cleo, and Clawdeen. Yet in the special all the Ghouls had a unique outfit for the occasion so I don't buy the excuse that they had not planned to release more...this is Mattel after all. xD

I kinda was expecting metal plates like scraps of panels put together with mis-colored panels. While she wasn't what I expected, I'll still be getting her. Need some brown and blue mixed in with my collection. XP

The more I see Ghoul's Rule Clawdeen, the more I wonder what the muffins is going on with her. Does she have...lavender hair? With leopard print shaved sides?!? And that outfit! Is she some kind of bird?! I just don't understand it! o_x
I love Venus, but I wish her outfit had more of a plant theme, like her awesome vine jewelry. What she has on is nice, but like Toralei it's just kinda plain. I want Uma Thurman in Batman and Robin! XP Super excited her pet is a baby Audrey II though. :D
Lovin' Robecca's details (goggles! over-skirt! incised skin!) but not her color scheme. I would have used electric blues or metallic browns, not both. I was hoping she'd be steampunk-inspired, so I'm at least partially pleased there.
I LOVE me some Poison Ivy, especially Uma's version of her. Those hair cones...
Having said that, I was totally prepared for her to look different, mainly so parallels wouldn't be drawn. She's still different than what I imagined (and who'd have thought a playline doll by Mattel would have a punk-inspired half shave?) but I just love her. And if you look at her in the higher quality pics in those links, you can see she has pointy leaf ears, and vine/leaf imprints in her hands and wrists. Also, she has little venus flytrap fangs! Combined with her accessories , like the vine ankle-wraps, the earrings, bracelets and necklace, she looks pretty plant-girl to me. YMMV of course. Ooh, and a friend pointed out her heels have mouths at the toe! It's like she's wearing bright pink Audrey II shoes!
I was sort of hoping for a bronze doll (which I got, yay!) but with bronze hair as well, like old-fashioned robot illustrations. But I get why they used the blue- it pops against the bronze and she meshes better with the rest of the line. In the HQ photos, she has black underneath the blue, and without that wretched cell phone flash, the blue is more muted. I'm really digging her boots, and little half hoop skirt/corset piece. I cannot wait to find out what she's all about.
And now that we've gotten a second doll on the larger body, I'm curious to see if Rochelle (or whoever the third, unrevealed doll is) has Howleen's shorter body. I don't have a preference either way, just curious.

And I could be wrong as well. Robecca just seems similar in height and build to Nefera. However, some people were mentioning that Venus looked taller than Toralei, and I think it's the boots. I get the same effect when I put Abbey or 2.0 Clawdeen next to another girl- they tower because of the boot heel. And Robecca is wearing boots, so that may be the case there as well.We'll just have to wait and see till their released! ^^ Really liking their Bios, esp Venus's. Actually starting to like them and I can't decide which is my favorite yet. lol

I'm in ontario, and I found cupid last weekend - it looked like they had just put her on the shelf since there was what I assume was a full case shipment of her. Not heard anything about the zellers, but since target owns them it seems possible they'll come there?

I've found Cupid on the 3rd of Feb in Ontario. My local Wal-Mart had about 8 on the shelf. Call them every morning around 9am when they open and check.

Another update: So I keep a tab open for Zoolert, right? I go to check on it. No Cupid, same as always. yadda yadda. Well I clicked on the Walmart link and the site said that they had her in stock in my store. So I was like "YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" and my sweaty hand dialed the phone number for the store...I swear to god, I got put on the phone with the rudest woman possible. I said "Hello. I saw online that you have the Monster High Cupid doll in stock in your store. I was wondering if this was true? "
And she literally says "Yeah that don't mean nuthin' hold on. "
Three minutes of silence. And another nice woman gets on the line. I ask her and she actually checks for me and says that they just got a batch in. She tells me that they will put her on hold for me in the gun section. Okay so I I thank the woman and rush to Walmart. When I get there, I go to the gun section and I ask the man behind the desk if they had a doll on hold for me. He says yes and he literally walked me over to the doll section and pointed at the dolls. There were a few Cupids but oh my gosh, you can't even hold a freakin doll for me? What if a scalper came by and snatched all of them before I could get there? Keep in mind = The gun section is about TEN FEET from the doll isle.

I'd try to find a dye designed for textiles or actual doll hair dye. Human hair dye doesn't bond well with fake hair. Also, for reference, the majority of the MH hair is saran and some kanekalon. I'd honestly re-root, myself. You wouldn't want the dye to drip or seep into the doll's head and then stain the face.
I haven't had much luck with RIT when it comes to dyeing something black.. I do have it (just in case) so that will be my other option. The pony's hair was left as a 'stormy grey' shade (dyeing white to black with human hair dye, just because I had a bait lying around the bathroom while I dyed my own hair :P ) so at least it would probably do something for the shade and if it looks bad I can try RIT or reroot. Actually have to root some parts of DotD Draculaura's head anyway because she has quite bad balding going on on top of her head (probably on purpose, to save hair when they though people wouldn't remove the ponytail hairdo).P.S.S. I agree, I wouldn't use human hair dye
while MLP are nylon hair -- yup i believe the MH girls have more of a saran hair (feels a little softer than pony hair) but a dye like RIT or Dylon would be a better choice than the dye for your hair

I think im one of the very few actually underwhelmed by Rochelle. I was the same with Venus and Robecca at first too but that soon passed and I'm fairly excited now for both but im still 'meh' about Rochelle.
Not sure what it is, if it's to too pale skin or the choice of pink for her second colour. I hate pink, and mattel has been very successful with it considering Barbie's very long reign as Queen of girls toys. We already have Draculaura, Cupid, now Venus (hot pink and green) and Rochelle (stone grey and pink). I think Im a little bit concerned Mattel will fall back on pink as a 'safe' colour.
I had a dream last night that I was at wal-mart and found a holt hyde - I was so excited! then I saw another one, but it was packaged as a couple with scarah screams (or whatever her name is supposed to be). I'm like, huh? there were fashion packs for both of them, and I think I dropped like $50 all together. lol... what a funny dream.

Oh, Rochelle- when will you and Venus be nestled on my dolly shelf? I just love her and her stony skin. And her wings. Two things: I hope those are horns and not ears. And I'm really hoping the majority of her hair is a pale pink. The more vibrant pink of Cupid's hair was a small disappointment, since the original promo shot made her look like she had a cloud of cotton candy on her head.

Hehe, yeah I was hoping for horns as well. At least these ones have a different placement. I don't mind the pink at all- although I like pink anyway. But pink is a very "French" color, and I think it's a nice contrast with the gray. I also like the little periwinkle streaks in her bangs.
OK, I finally got my first MH doll Spectra in the mail. And I see now why everyone loves these dolls so much!! I *love* her!!! Her clothes are awesome, her hair is so super soft, and her posability is great! I don't have pictures yet, but I will soon. I am glad I got her second outfit, as I do like it better than the one she came with. The one thing I don't like is the pink shoes she came with. They are so hard to get off her feet! The clear pair in the outfit are much easier to deal with.welcome to the club. i think we all said we would just get one or two *mwahahah*

If they re-release Signature Holt around the same time they release Jackson, I might take back what I said about not getting the boy dolls and just get those 2 as well as Clawd. lol XD
I wouldn't count on it. Jackson's part of the spring line, and Holt was originally released during the fall of 2010. He had his re-release with Abbey and Spectra's debut. Abbey looks to be the one getting a re-release. Also, they don't tend to release a lot of guy dolls at once. I think if we get another guy besides Jackson before the end of the year, it'll be a new release, probably a basic or deluxe doll (I think that Dot Dead Gorgeous will have more dolls in it) or possibly a signature guy in a double pack, like Gil with Lagoona or something.

I have something I wish Mattel would make for these dolls. More outfits! Not just ones that come with dolls, and not just ones for specific dolls. I want general outfits for *any* MH doll to wear. I am loving the fashion aspect of these dolls, but noticed that so far, all the outfits either come with a doll or are designed around a specific doll. Why can't they just make some general 'mix N match' outfits? They would be so much fun, especially with the new CAM packs.
Also, in line with more outfits, I would *love* to see a MH closet! It could be skeleton-themed with bone-styled hangers. And maybe a couple of drawers for shoes and accessories. I'd love that too!! <3

Wow, that is really neat theory and it makes a lot of sense! And Ghoulia is the only one of the original main characters to not get a 2.0, so a double pack with her and Slo-Mo is very possible. Of course, I'd prefer a Gil/Lagoona set, since Lagoona is one of my faves (Operetta and Venus are super-close), and Gil is one of my favorite guys.
As far as Heath and Abbey go, I can totally see it. Aside from the scene you and wardah mentioned, there was a little flirtation between the two of them during Abbey's introductory arc in the webisodes. And it would give Mattel the opportunity to use a tagline like "Fire and Ice" :P
That is really odd that they'd release two dolls that were already in the 1st DT line. I think they're probably fakes. :huh: I'm still trying to find DT Frankie and a second DT Draculaura. *sigh* I hope they haven't been discontinued yet.

I also order some dresses from that shop Tuney mentioned. Operetta snagged the black one, (Ignore her hair. I haven't worked up the courage to restyle it yet.) but I'm not sure who to put the other dresses on, so I put them on my sales dolls for now.

It's nice to have a doll to buy who's a bit cheaper (my first MH was a DT Ghoulia, because I wasn't sure if I would like them or not), but one of my favorite parts of the line is the clothing and the DT line just has boring clothing (imho).

I kind of see where you're coming from on this, but that's the reason I like them I think. The more muted make-up choices and simple clothes really endear them to me. When I bought Toralei's fashion pack I already knew she wouldn't be wearing it. lol. I hate bandanas and all the orange, but I knew a simple black top would come in handy.
Killer style Frankie is the same as Gloom Beach Frankie except for the bangs, so if you have the Gloom Beach version you can achieve a similar look.
I hope she becomes widely available too. I like her, but not enough to pay crazy "exclusive doll" prices.
I am not impressed by the second DT line, to be honest. To me Clawdeen already had a DT version and that came with her bunk bed and I think the same of Lagoona if they decided to put her in the new line as well. Now if they wanted to do a second wave with just Abbey, Operetta, Spectra, Nefra, Venus, Rochelle, Robecca, and Toralei I would be fine with that actually. Heck, if they wanted to throw the boys into the mix that would be awesome as well.

That's 2.0 Cleo. She was released late last spring. Her current case assortment is 2x Operetta, 2x Nefera, 1x Toralei and 1x Cleo. So, you're missing out on the three newest girls (that have been released anyway).

I didn't think I would particularly like the line either - pajamas? But then I bought DT Ghoulia, mainly for her amazing Brain Puffs, and she simply charmed so much she has practically become my favorite doll. So I feel like I really need the others to go with her.
Ya okay, I agree with you there. Idk...maybe it's just because they haven't released a DT doll yet that I really HAVE TO HAVE, but, like I said, they all just seem a bit meh. I am so glad I started collecting this line back when there were only 9 dolls to worry about. I fell a bit behind a few months ago, and that was hard enough to get caught up on- I can't imagine what it's like getting into it now and wanting the majority of the line. I'd suggest checking places you wouldn't normally think to look, like Burlington Coat Factory, Family Dollar or Big Lots. I've heard of people finding the dolls at all those places, so you never know. And as wardah mentioned, sometimes you'll find the odd older doll in Target or TRU.

Oh, jeez. I just did another recount. I have 45 dolls in my collection (not counting my 4 CAM sets), 6 dolls I plan to sell in the near future, and -at the very least- 18 dolls on my "must have" list which will be roughly $360.

I'm kind of realizing I can't, for the life of me, fit all the dolls I want on my shelves. And I'd have serious trouble justifying all of them to myself. I'd love to do the thing where I buy a doll, get tired of it, sell it to buy another one, but I keep finding reasons why I shouldn't sell that particular one (oh I haven't seen a classroom Frankie with such nice hair before! But GB Lala looks awesome in those fashion packs!) so I just keep stockpiling them. If I intend to keep the Halloween girls MIB then I deffinitely won't have room.
And I still need Spectra, SS Lala and Abbey, damnit. Think I'm passing on most of the new releases though. Howleen's cute but not worth the double pack, I don't like the faces on the Werecat twins, Robecca doesn't do much for me and the only rollerblading girl I like is Operetta, but I need to see her hair first. I do need Venus and Rochelle, though. :/

I agree, I'd much rather see the other characters than Clawdeen and Ula again. They even have a cute design for Abbey already! (Actually I'll be surprised if she's not included in the line at least.)

O.O Omg! Draculaura's powder room!!! I seriously might be more excited about this than even the new basic dolls. XD It looks SO perfect! I wasn't even sure what a powder room was supposed to contain. Went to 5 stores today (Wal-Mart x2, Target x2, TRU) and everything is BARREN. Just CAM sets, 2 Neferas, 2 Toreilis, 2 2.0 Cleo, and 1600 Cleos. This is from all five stores combined.......

I'm not sure if I follow. The things you were finding are part of Mattel's Fall toy cycle; 1600, SS, CaM, and the case of signatures that includes Operetta, Nefera and Toralei. Those are what you'll find in most stores. Now, I've seen DT and the Clawd/Draculaura pack with decent stock numbers in stores as well, so I assume those are still available for stores to order. Same with the Classroom stuff.
But it appears that older lines are not available for order right now; this would include older signature cases (the original dolls, Spectra, Abbey, GB, DotD). Now, I can't be 100% sure that they aren't available to retailers, but since retailers don't seem to be stocking them, I think that this is the case. It doesn't hurt to hunt, because you never know when a store will get a return or a random case from the distribution center. But my belief is that the majority of last year's dolls are not currently available. And I suspect that we'll see fewer of the 1600 and SS come fall, as lines like the Halloween line take their place.
Sorry for the ramble, and hopefully you find the dolls you're looking for! :)

1600 dolls retail at £24.99 in the UK...thats $39.51 in US...its why I only have Draculaura so far...

I'm thinking of caving in and buying a Nefera, but only because I want to see those extra long legs! ha!
The thing is, I hate her aqua hair and lips. I suppose I could live with the hair if I could make it into an afro...just not sure it's possible. I guess I could give her a boil perm and then comb it out...that might work. And, of course, repaint her lips pink...

Okay, crossposting this from my lj entry:
Alright, so on Wednesday Amazon had the wave 1 DOTD dolls in stock. I decided to order Frankie. I have Amazon Prime and she was eligible for it. However, it said that the estimated arrival day would be in a week.
When I went to go check the order just a minute ago, it isn't even in my orders section??? Huh????
Has this ever happened to anyone else before???
Since it is my birthday in 3 days, and I had some funds in Paypal, I just splurged on a MIB 1st release Abbey from eBay! :frolic:
Though, the final price with shipping was a lot ($82) I only paid half that because of the money in Paypal. So, I justify this with also being my personal birthday gift to myself. ;)
Anyway, I can't wait to get her!!
Congratulations! And happy birthday! I hope you love her as much as I love mine. :D Her whole body is glittery, which gives her skin a bit of a rough texture, but it's so sparkly and beautiful.
Her hair however IS pretty soft, it's just that the sparkly white strands interwoven with the regular MH doll hair (white all over with an under-layer of pink, purple, and blue) are kind of a soft plastic, it looks a bit like fiber optic cable. (But I'd say it's softer than those.) So it isn't the same feeling as one of the ghouls with just hair, like Spectra. But it's not a metal tinsel like Cleo. It doesn't crinkle up. One of the best things about her hair is how amazingly thick it is. She just has tons of the stuff.

and if anyone cares, her mask bends a bit. I had to bend her mask to fit right with her flatter hair. I bent it pretty far and it was fine.
I won't say it's not going to break though, but it does have some give and will stay if you bend it.
I love that Operetta has scars, even if they are very pretty ones. Ties her into the Phantom mythology and also gives those with disfigurements a doll like them...kind of surprising, given that Mattel still hasn't released a bald Barbie for cancer victims yet. Maybe Operetta is a sign they are moving in that direction?

Venus: I adore her outfit and face but the hair style is sooo...ugh! I just can't bring myself to want to buy her.
Halloween clawdeen...i'd want her nude as her makeup and hair is to die for. the outfit is just so not cool...I get the concept but I think it was just badly done.

I think I must be naturally "tacky" cause I am loving the Halloween outfits and makeup and hair...am I the only one?Nope, you're not alone - I love all of that too! Especially after it was explained that their designs are highly stylized versions of the classic movie monster get-ups. I'm EXTREMELY excited about the whole line, and am hoping like crazy that they add a second wave of Lagoona, Spectra, Holt and Operetta! (Can you imagine Operetta in a stylized phantom costume? Or Holt in jazzed up Victorian-esque duds? *swoon!*)

I was gently posing my Signature Abbey for a picture, and her right arm snapped off at the elbow. The peg is still buried in her upper arm and I can't get it out.
I thought maybe if I could get the peg out, I could give her one of my SS Abbey's arms, but it turns out that SS and Signature Abbey are different shades of blue.
It took me forever to track down and find a Signature Abbey. She is my favorite doll. I can't believe this.

Yes, Signature Abbey is 1st/2nd release Abbey with the furry boots and crystalline-patterned dress. My particular Abbey was 2nd edition signature (she has shorter legwarmers and a few other variations from 1st release Abbey).
Lagoona is going to be in the Dot Dead Gorgeous line (along with Spectra and
Operetta)

What gives, Mattel?Since there's artwork featuring Sweet 1600 Lagoona and Ghoulia we'll probably see them in another wave. They were both in the second release of DotD, both had separate/exclusive releases in Gloom Beach and Dead Tired respectively, and Ghoulia was in the second set of signature dolls, so i think they're seen as secondary core-characters.
That does suck about your Abbey. But it looks like Mattel is pretty good at fixing that, which is good.
My main concern is whether I can still get a Clawd at the great price of $22. I doubt it. In that case, I'll probably just keep Clawdeen. I was considering buying one anyway.

Is that right? or is that advertised wrong?... if she did come with them, where are they hidden in the box? because I can't find them anywhere in either my operetta that I opened and the other I still have for a friend

I believe those are actually Howleen's bracelets, my Operetta doesn't have them either. Weird stock photo mishap.

Just peeking in to say that I absolutely must have that roller derby Ghoulia. MUST. HAVE.
And I wish Lagoona's helmet had a fin on either side of her head (like her Signature hoodie) instead of just one fin in the middle, like she's wearing a Gil scalp. XP

Oops, assortment number wasn't the right term to use, sorry about that. I probably should have said batch number. It's actually indented into the box and may be different between multiples of the same doll. I think they just want to know what batch the broken doll came from in case there are/have been multiple reports of errors.

The Product # seems to be all they care about. I've been dealing with Mattel since 1990 and they don't do a serious track down on a broken item like you would think. They would rather just send a replacement since all of their products have a warranty. In some cases they will take your address and if the problem you report is widespread they will send you a new part ( I got more than a few Barbie heads in the mail over the years. It's kind of funny when you don't expect it. :blink: )
Anyways.... Abbey's Assortment # is N2851 Product # V7988 If they don't have the part to send they will send you the same doll... if they don't have the doll they will send a voucher. ;) Don't worry too much about the indented batch #. They won't even ask for it on something like a broken arm. Missing items or broken straight out of the box they might but it has not been something I've ever been asked. ;)
Damn! Mattel just got back to me. They say they'll email me a return shipping label, and I'll get my refund within 10 days. But there's no mention of them sending me a Clawd. I may just keep Clawdeen after all...

My Gil came with a bright orange stand as well, and I believe another - Abbey?- came with a purple one. It's hard for me to remember.

Haha I don't know, but I believe you, purple would match Abbey's SS outfit much more than the teal. And I believe someone earlier in this thread had an SS Ghoulia with a green stand, which also makes sense.

Huh, my Spectra had nice hair straight out of the box. There was a crease in it, and I have since washed & conditioned it out. But it wasn't bad.
