Title: What is the most expensive pony you've ever bought?
Post by: starstrider on May 21, 2018, 02:55:52 AM
I just won two of my grails at auction (YAY!) and both on the same day, but they were NOT CHEAP.  I just spent an entire week's worth of pay on two ponies, and even I am wondering if I'm completely out of my mind.   I have about $23 to live on until next Thursday when my pay comes through (BOO!).  My brain is desperately trying to justify this outrageous expense when I'm already up to my eyeballs in debt, and although I really REALLY wanted them so I could complete the set, I know I should never have bought them as they were WAY out of my budget.

Please help make me feel better by telling me about some of your most expensive pony purchases in your collections!  Which ponies came along which you simply couldn't walk past, even when you knew you couldn't really afford them?  And how long did you have to live on ramen noodles before you recovered financially?

I've bought expensive ponies...

but I have always saved up for them, because I don't believe to be in debt for non-essential things. I always make sure that I have a steady flow of income, a hefty emergency savings, an additionally a casual savings for "fun stuff" be it a toy, food, or whatever. Money first, then pony.

I don't spend so I put myself in a financial hole, but I have had the pony purchases that made me close my wallet for quite some time afterwards.  I have been fortunate to have gotten almost all of my biggest price tag ponies as gifts for various events like Christmas, graduation, my wedding, and the odd birthday.  There was one glaring exception to this, and it's bugged me for years.

For a very, very long time, the most I ever spent on a single pony was for a MIP SS Windwhistler.  I had wanted that particular pony since she first hit the stores in the 80s, and she was top of my list to get once I found ebay back in '97.  She just didn't come up at all until one day - there she was!  Someone had stuck a finger under the bubble at the bottom to get the sticker out and it was stapled closed at the bottom, but she was MOC enough for me!   Unfortunately, there were a couple of hard core MOC collectors scouring ebay at the time, and nobody ever won against either of them.  Most people just gave up when either of their names came up on the bidders list(which you could see usernames back then).  I had never seen anyone succeed in outbidding either of them, and the crazier of the two marked *my* Windwhistler!

Well, I found out what it took to outbid the biggest MOC nut on ebay when I won that stupid pony.  I'm not sure, but I may have actually been the only person to straight up outbid her during her reign as queen of the MOC ponies on ebay.  I'm not sure about that, but it's entirely possible if she bid on her other auctions like she did on the one I went for.  I'm not going to give an exact figure because it's pretty awful(but boy do I remember it down to the penny), but I got my darn pony!  A childhood quest was finally at an end!  It went so high that another seller must've taken notice and put a truly MOC one up a few days later.  The crazy lady who ran me up won the second one for less than an 7th of the price I paid for my partially open one:/

I wasn't desperate afterwards, but I did steer clear of ebay for several months, and my "entertainment/fun things" budget was shot for a while too.  It was a pretty dull time at my place for a while.  Lots of evenings in, playing old video games and watching my old tapes instead of going out and doing things.  I wasn't on only ramen afterwards, but my "it's the weekend - I want a treat" meals from my favorite restaurants didn't happen for a while either.  I did manage to get my hands on a few pizzas that were $5 for the whole thing on Tuesdays, but other than that I stayed home and cooked my own food:/

I have bought some pretty pricey ponies the last few years, being lucky to save that much money.  I have also gotten a few as gifts when my hubby teams up with my parents for Christmas and birthday gifts.  My most expensive one was Greek Lambiditsa (Easter Candle sitting pony).  My first most-expensive was pink-haired Venny AJ.  Others have included Piggy Snuzzle (gift), Baby Sugarcake (gift), Argie Sprinkles, and Greek Baby Minty.

My collection is in its infancy, but I have spent around £10 pounds on a lot of 4 common ponies before (Including postage). I tend to buy ponies in lots as apposed to singularly as  its more economical. I don't mind ponies that are imperfect and I don't have many of them anyway, so chances of doubles are low at this point!

So satisfying when you finally get that really special grail, isn't it?  WW is gorgeous.  Bidding wars are the pits though.  I always promise myself I won't exceed X amount bid, but in the dying seconds of the auction and bidding war heats up, certain lines get crossed  :P  I think I'll be steering clear of eBay for a few months after this.  Am absolutely stoked to finally get these grails I've been chasing literally for years, but it's wiped me out as far as pony budgeting goes.  I would have been okay if it had just been one grail, but two on the same day at the same time?  Brutal.  Will be spending a lot of time hanging out at home and living cheaply for the next few months!  Netflix and sleep, methinks.

I enjoyed reading about your ebay journey. There are those super rich determined people out that that "stalk" ceetain products. It is super frustrating.

Sealight with her shell for $40, I think.

If we're going beyond just regular ponies, then I got Twibot for full price at TRU shortly after Christmas, so that was $130. But Sealight is my most expensive regular pony so far.

Congratulations on your grails!
The most I've ever spent on an individual pony was £20 for MGR Sparkler a few years ago, even that is over what I'd normally limit myself to for spending on a pony. Things tended to get expensive when I found a few ponies I liked one after the other, but I'm more restrained now!

I feel like when you spend money on rare ponies / nirvanas-- there's some modesty there too.

The most I spent on is the huge g3 Frilly Frocks plush in the period she was able to get through the points. I paid 100+ dollars from ebay and at least 50 dollars on shipping and customs.
If I want to buy something expensive I make sure I have the money or just skip it.

The most I've spent on a single pony? $25 for a nearly complete Tiffany, and around as much for a very fuzzy Paradise. One may have included shipping. My grail budget is $30 including shipping and my non grail budget is $20 including shipping.

I have a couple customs that cost approx $100 each. Those were big time splurges, and they are simply gorgeous, and I love them now, years later, as much as at time of purchase. But as far as regular MLP goes, probably a Nightlight with some small flaws for idk, $60 or so, is the most I have parted with for one single pony. I might consider spending more to get my hands on a Daddy Sunbright, though... 🤑

Those alt birthflowers are just gorgeous, Starstrider.

I have to admit I haven't ever put myself in a position where my day to day living expenses (or my family's for that matter) were compromised, but the largest amount I ever spent on a single pony was $50NZ on Dutch Star on a local auction site. That was early in my collecting and I shrink at spending that kind of money on individual ponies now.
Then again, I did splash out on a My Pretty Pony last year, complete (box and all accessories bar one ribbon). But I called her a birthday present to myself. She set me back well over $100NZ once shipped from overseas.

My irony is, is that I rarely allow ponies to individually cost me over a personal, set amount once I had made back a bit of money on the extras I may have got in the same lot. Then I discovered Fashion Star Fillies and all my rules went out the door. Never in my life have I spent so much money on plastic, inanimate objects   Why? I honestly couldn't say.

But I have Janis. And I am happy  :P

I don't think I could personally justify paying more than £100 for a pony. I usually buy cheap and frequently baity ponies, but sometimes I splash out! My most expensive pony was Mountain Boy Tornado, I think he cost around £70, plus some rather expensive postage as he came from Sweden. My most expensive pony-related purchase was the Greek baby buggy with its original box. I love that thing <3.

I have to say, I'm all for spending heavily on your hobbies, as long as you don't end up in serious financial straits because of it. £100 might be my pony limit, but I've spent over £300 on a first edition antiquarian book before (and that was actually a bargain, it usually goes for ~£500). Another book I carefully stalked on eBay until it came down from £500 to £250. After all, what price can be put on happiness and the satisfaction of owning an excellent collection of things you love?

Starglow. She was R450 - South African Rands - which is about $35-00. This isn't so bad for a Glow 'n Show pony by these day's eBay standards I don't think. She is at the post office waiting for me to fetch her right now as we speak(?) - type?

I have wanted a Glow 'n Show pony since I was small, so this will be a lifetime wish come true for me. I can clearly remember sitting on my bed and looking at pictures of them and wishing... But this is a LOT for one single pony when you consider that I didn't pay that much for either Night Glider or Scandanavian Truly.

I've got a price I don't want to put more for ponies (around $60) but I did get fairly over, up to double that price for some extremely wanted & htf ponies. Also, I crossed the line several times now, for Nirvana's or rare ones.
I never kept my words when it comes to budget vs somethin' I really want

Also I do assume I'm not picky and took ponies with flaws in order to drop the price.

I don't believe I've paid more than $50 on anything pony-related. I believe the most expensive thing I bought was the Canterlot/Seaquestria castle.

For a single pony, I paid $25 for TAF Yum Yum. That's just about my limit for most ponies.

I think my most expensive was MIB Play n Care baby Lickety Split. I had her as a child, and I really really wanted her. It's over 10 years ago, and I have only seen one more MIB for sale since, and my was in pristine condition, so I'm still very happy with her :)

The pony that brought me to a smaller financial crisis was my MOC spanish baby Lemon Drop. Not my most expensive, but I had bought a car at the same time, so I hadnt adjust my budget for the extra costs of gas and payments for the loan. And of course she arrived broken. It has been one of my greatest grails almost since I started collecting, and I was heartbroken when she arrived. :(

Most expensive ponybuy though, is, although cheap per pony, a lot of money to spend at one time.  It was 14 MOC/MIB, and a bunch of MOC clothing, including MIB Princess Amber with dragon. But at that time, I had money saved, so at least no financial crisis afterwards. :P

With all the budget minded people on this thread, I'm wondering who keeps winning those stupid expensive auctions on ebay:p

I won't post what I paid for that MOC Windwhistler(it's pretty shameful), but I will admit to buying a $200 lot of ponies and accessories to get a hat I needed to complete a ponywear outfit once.  It was a sweet lot, and it had a bunch of other nice stuff in it, but I was really after the hat.  Had the hat been by itself in its own auction, I still would've paid $200 for the thing.  I call it my $200 hat - it just came with a few bonus items:p  And I did the exact same thing again just a few months ago, this time for $250.  I bought an entire lot of Brazilian ponies just for a hat.  A different hat this time, but I still just wanted the hat.  I'm very serious about ponywear.  I also have a pile of Brazilian ponies for trade/sale now:/

This topic should've been posted on the Nirvana forum.   That's where the South African and Takara pony buyers hang out.  I've got a few big-ish ticket ponies, but those ponies take the cake!

I spent 200 dollars for a HUGE lot. It was worth it, so many ponies and accessories and playsets! If you worked it out, I think each item was below two bucks.

As for one pony, I think it was 13 bucks for a good condition Magic Hat.

Which hats were they?

I bought myself a graduation present after I graduated last year: MOC Argentinian Rockin' Beat Tuneful! That was definitely the most I've spent on one pony but I used graduation gift money and she was a really good deal. :D No regrets!

Right now the one that will be the most is my Dutch Baby Dolphin I'm making payments on. The others I have bought were for very good prices or were half gifts from friends, like Lightning ThunderCloud and Tornado, and Mexi Rainbow Firefly.

The first hat(my $200 hat) was the hat to the Costume Wear, Academy Award.  This was waaaaay back in the day, well before that seller from Chile flooded the market with MOC Costume Wear outfits.  I had spent a good chunk of my childhood looking at the brochure with the Costume Wear outfits pictured, but I had never been able to find a single sign of any of those outfits anywhere.  I don't know what the distribution for the outfits was in the USA, but almost every loose Costume Wear outfit I saw came from Canada or overseas.  The lot it came with was a sweet lot.  $200 was a deal for that lot back then, let alone what a similar lot would go for now.  It had a ton of mint ponies complete with all accessories and their backcards/boxes, and a bunch of other complete outfits too.  But it was that hat I really wanted!

The second hat was the little paper Brazilian Party Time party hat.  Anyone who seriously collects accessories probably knows how well paper accessories survive.  It looked to be in excellent condition, and the rest of the lot consisted of what appeared to be excellent condition ponies and their mint outfits.  It looked like I'd be getting my hat plus a bunch of great trade fodder.  When I got it, the condition wasn't quite what I had hoped.  The whole box must've been stored somewhere musty, and most of the ponies have had haircuts:(  Several of the ponies had some crusty thing going on that I had to deal with as well. I've been working on getting the stink out of them(it's pretty bad), and I hope that I may be able to get the outfits at the very least to a point where they're acceptable.  But I did get my hat, and that's what I really wanted.  It's got a bit of water staining, and it stinks too:(  I'm working on the smell, but other than that it's in pretty good condition.  I wouldn't say no to an upgrade, but it's highly unlikely that I'll be able to find one.  I've been after that hat for over 15 years.

Most expensive pony..
I think that would be Steamer. I want to say he ran me $20?

I see people have talked about bidding wars. Hoo boy are those a pet peeve of mine. Specifically, bidding wars waged by affluent bozos who come barging into an auction and drive the bidding up crazy high... when it's not even rare, and there are several Buy It Now listings they could have gone after instead (often for less than the winning bid) if they were willing to drop that kind of money on it!

I've suppressed how much I've spent on my expensive ponies. I know I've paid over $100 for the giant blank Pony Project pony, who is my most expensive G3 though I certainly paid less than most people I know who have her. MOC Argentinen Rockin' Beats Tuneful and Half Note both were over $100, Surprise Twins mum and babies were exactly $100. I've paid around $100 for some of the Li'l Litters Nursery Families also.

The main thing I remind myself is that while I have indeed spent a lot of money on ponies, I have paid much, much less than the value of at least half of my entire collection. The value of my collection as a whole is easily triple what I paid for them. The Pony Gods have been very kind to me so I don't feel bad about buying a very expensive pony every few years.

And to think that there was a time when I thought paying more than $15 for one pony was insane!

Rapunzel, $500 (in payments).  Then I think Spain Milky Way, Sweet Scoops/pendant, a few Brazilians, and the pink birthday baby.  I have a lot that hovered around the $100-$150 point and don't remember their exact prices.

If we're talking lots, I spent $200 on a lot of playsets, accessories and ponies. And I said earlier I spent $130 each on a few ponies, I realized I'm thinking in CAD so is USD it would be less.

My overseas-sourced grails - I think I paid $70 including shipping for my first ever Nightglider, then a while later I got TAF Buttons for a little bit less.

I felt a bit disgusted at myself afterwards,   but they were worth it!  :lovey: :lovey:

Most of my other G1s are not in mint condition, I am happy to rehome them or restore baity ones, thus I only pay smallish amounts for them, usually under £10 if possible.

I may venture over this limit to help build my Honeycomb army (if they are in good condition) - but I already have enough so I am not too fussed  :P

My most expensive single pony was my beloved Fireball - and he was on the limit of what I am prepared to pay for a hard-to-find pony (high 10s of british pounds). However, there are only a couple of expensive ponies on my wish list so sometimes you just have to go for it.
He's worth every penny to me as I really really wanted him and he makes me smile every day standing proudly at the front of the cabinet. He was still much much less than you'd need to drop on a decent pair of shoes or other such frippery though so I justify his price like that :)
In the grand scheme of things I've had the luck to find some lovely ponies in lots that were less than I would have been prepared to pay for them so it sort of evens out.

$400 for Rapunzel  back in 2014 as she was the last pony to finish my US collection. It was a buy it now so I went for it and glad I did considering what she can go for now. I spent more than that on pony lots years ago where I was able to get the twice as fancy babies, tux and magenta satin' and lace.

Brazilian Paradise, if we're talking single loose pony. I wanted Paradise since I was a kid and even wrote stories about her. But the Paradise I wrote about doesn't exist :/ and the Brazilian one is the closest that does. Because we didn't have SS ponies in the UK, I always imagined her without fur :)

I have been extremely lucky with a lot of my loose ponies, though. It all balances out in the end.

Long time ago. LSPP in the box. I think I paid around $850.

I would spend that and more for her...just saying. Last needed G3 pony for me.

Many many years ago...I spent a majority of my tax refund (around what dragonfly paid for LSPP MIB) on a G3 Rosey Posey with the card (which I cant find now because its in a safe place somewhere in my house/basement). At the time, there were only about 100 known available. A few years later an overseas person started selling a bunch of them in baggies with no card so she became easier to obtain for less money

But Id spend it again. No regrets.

Second pricy pony was $90 for the TAF Pony Project pony. Planned purchase. Again, no regrets.

I purchased Anchor's Away for $30. She wasn't what I expected... Her tinsel is stretched and she doesn't shine like she did in the listing photos  ._.

I was able to snap up an official MOC Holly Dash for $25. And then I just splurged on a G4 Rainbow Flash and Starswirl pair which was over $100. And Applejack's puppy. Applejack's puppy took more precedence than the ponies, ha!

I am so happy that I was able to get these.

With all the budget minded people on this thread, I'm wondering who keeps winning those stupid expensive auctions on ebay:p

I know, right?  Apparently you and me and just a few others here appear to be paying too much for ponies, everyone else seems to find them somewhere cheaper!

It's hard being a collector in a country like Australia, where the US Dollar is considerably stronger than our local currency, because by the time you factor in the currency conversion AND the outrageously expensive international shipping costs, a single not-super-expensive pony which may originally have cost $10 USD often ends up costing $30+ Australian dollars.  That's per pony.  Consider that any rare ponies purchased overseas in USD or GBP once converted to AUD will end up cost one third to double as much as it would for someone buying the pony who lives in the country of origin.

And countries like Australia have a much smaller market for ponies for sale locally, and 9/10 times the only ponies for sale are super common and not the ones you're looking for.  Which means you ship in almost every pony you want.  I've probably imported 94% of my collection, as those ponies just do not come up for sale here.  Like, ever. So many international collectors operate at a disadvantage due to their geographical location as well as the currency conversion expenses.  If I lived in the US or Europe I am certain I could afford twice as many ponies as I can now.  Everything just costs so muh money to bring to Australia  >_<

Currency conversion does play a huge role in these kinds of decisions, as does import duty for a lot of folk.

When the currency here crashed after the brexit vote it became much more expensive suddenly to buy ponies from overseas.

£ is still a bigger unit of currency than I think pretty much anywhere else, but that doesn't always matter in real terms. In the past I can remember times when you could get £1 being $2 USD and then it was nice to buy from the US - but now it's a lot weaker than that :( At one point it was $1.28 USD to the £. That was really bad. I think now it's around 1.4$ USD to the £. The Euro is also really strong in recent years so that's not a great exchange rate either. And after we leave the EU, who knows if we'll have custom fees there as well :( I am buying from Europe while I can, basically :/

I rarely buy in AUS$ or $CAD but I do remember both are smaller units of currency than the $US.

Macau Jenny for around 60USD. Next on the list is NBBE baby Ribbon for 40 usd. She was my grail when I was a kid, so when I got into ponies again as an adult I stalked eBay to find her. I was away for the weekend the auction ended, and since this outdated the smartphones with quite a lot of years I had my sister bidding for me. It was nerve-wrecking, but I got her! I think I spent £40 on Dutch Baby Schoolbag. I also paid a bit for German Sweet Clover but I can't remember how much. I haven't bought much in the last year or two and got most of my collection 4-5 years ago. I was lucky and paid £35 (Lightening, NM) or £40 (Ice Crystal, fore lock trim otherwise great) for my my Mountain Boys and I'm just debating whether to buy a third one but they are more expensive again at the moment.  I got lucky with a great swap partner who got me Nightglider but I can't remember what we spent, I think she was very generous or had a spare or something. I think the biggest lot I bought was working with an Ebay seller in the USA. I persuaded her to use ordinary mail not the GSP, so I finally got the Melody and Twilight I always wanted. Individually those ponies were OK value though. I'm just trying to think If I've ever gone really crazy. I think they have just added up a lot over time.

I think I would/Could spend $150+ on a Daddy Sunbright (or Daddy Berrytown or Daddy Meadowsweet) if the timing were right (taxes or ebay sales on uptick), but so far i THINK the most I have spent was $80 on a TAF Baby Sugarberry and she is one of my absolute fave ponies so she was worth every Penny.

I was fortunate to get her through a friend who let me do 2 installment payments...I think if I could do more installments plans I would do a LOT more spending on pricey ponies but thats not how teh world works ha ha, so on average I would say I spend $50-$75 on grail ponies when they come up (like TAF babies, UK/Euro exclusives (I am USA based) etc...

I think I may or may not have spent close to $50 or more on customs, they are works of art worth that and more! EVERYPONY seems to be after Daddy Sunbright!!!!

I completely agree starstrider, in South Africa we have currency conversion rates of $1-00 to ZAR13-00 and up. So I have to times the lot price by at least 13, and that does not include shipping. The British Pound is worse, for that I have to times by just over 17. We do have a limited amount of ponies for sale locally, but their prices have doubled in the past year.

Probably one of my mountain boys has been my most expensive purchase -- some of of them have been around the $115 range (can't remember their exact prices). I'd wanted them for a long time, and I'm happy with the amount I spent on them. I *think* I would consider spending more for Ice Crystal (the last one I want) or one of the birthday babies, but there aren't many ponies I would spend much more on. Groups of ponies, however, I've spent more on, mostly because when you do the math you're spending less per pony. I think the most I spent for a lot was about $700 (it included all the TAF babies with their ribbons and lots of other ponies that made it well worth the price). Sometimes my sister and I will go in on a lot together if it's expensive/risky.

Night Glider and Buttons have been the most expensive ponies I have bought so far at $35 each. The seller (I have bought from them on a few occasions now at a collectible swap meet type place) had them tagged at $50 but since I was buying quite a number of ponies on both those days they let me have them for $35 each. Amusingly (before I bought those a couple months ago) I had spent $25 each on a couple other ponies and I thought that was pushing it.

Just to say that being in Europe is not really that advantageous. I mean, there are so many ponies that are not available here in all countries so trying to track them down is a pain.

And the cheap auctions are always the US only ones.

Our exchange rate to $ and Euro has been shot since the Brexit vote, there's the problem of customs duty which we might soon have for Europe as well as the US/everywhere else...and then there's the GSP.

US ponypeople are the truly blessed ones. No import duty, plenty of ponies within the US to choose from...cheaper prices overall for new stuff :/

Somewhere under 60 dollars shipped for a G1 Moondancer plush, with tags and the comb still intact. She is also clear white! Some eye wear, and the symbols have bled. But considering what a similar one shipped from USA would have costed with shipping and customs, she was well priced.

But for regular ponies it's somewhere 29-ish dollars shipped. Both Star Hopper and mexican Baby Northstar each costed me that amount. Sparkle ponies weren't sold where I live so 20€ + shipping was a good price for her at a local auction site - especialy considering she is nearly mint! Just has the previous owners initials on her hooves. The glitter inside her is well balanced too. The mexican Northstar looked good on the pictures but hasn't yet arrived so I can't say for sure. 1/3rd of her price was just shipping.
Also I payed something like 23 USD for a mysterious G1 Morning Glory, sold to the seller as authentic winged, but the seller wasn't sure. Turned out the wings were good quality reproductions. I decided then to search myself a Forget-Me-Not, put the wings on her, and now am attempting to sell the Morning Glory. It didn't end up that bad after all.

Try being Canadian.
We got the same ponies as the US but far fewer of any given pony, no real exclusives.  Shipping is an arm and a leg, anything over 20$ gets hit with taxes, customs, import duty handling (fees often total more than the item!), we're excluded from US only auctions despite being practically on top of each other, and our dollar is worth less.   There's no way I could come close to affording my G1 collection today if I hadn't started back in the early 90's.

Ah yeah. You guys have it rough too. :/ In the early days having exclusives really helped with filling all the gaps. But you do at least have a chance of finding some of the cool MO ponies in the wild, which is really unlikely here.

I think it's just back to that same thing. US ponypeople are really blessed...

That they were.
While we did have most of the Mail Order offers, Canadian shipping was far more expensive even back then so you just don't find nearly as many MO's 'in the wild'.  The postage and handling was often similar to the cost of just buying a pony from the store, so I'd imagine a lot of parents just went 'no, I'm not getting you that' like mine did.  I only had one MO pony as a kid - Lucky, because he was a boy and that was deemed unique enough to justify - but I did get other things like MO Spike and the baby pony outfits, since they were a decent value.

I can't really think of any ponies I've spent a good amount on...I would think the most I've spent is around $25, and that would be for the SDCC Muffin Pony. I was fortunate enough to get a few slighty sought after ponies for cheap - Nightglider for $16, 2xSDCC :muffin: Ponies for retail, a glitter Funko Luna for retail (ordered one, lucky enough for it to be a glitter!). I feel like there should be a few I spent more on, but I guess not...Ponies are sort of my cheaper toy collection.

Oh wait! I remembered, the HQG1C ponies. I think PepperJack is the most I've paid up til now. He was $35? $38? Something like that...

I traded Moomin mugs with a Moomin collector to get my Ice Crystal, and we agreed on a trade worth $95. That makes him the most expensive pony in my herd

I spent my largest amount of money on two Alt birthflowers too!  It was years ago and, judging by the prices now, I think I paid way over the odds for them, so yeah, a bit of regret there.

However, the way I see it is this: over the years, I've spent way under for many, many ponies, securing decent bargains for most of them so...I believe it balances out :)

The second biggest spend was on...you've guessed it - Mimic (also years ago)! I just adore her and tbh her price has remained pretty much the same since then, in the UK at least so I'm not really fussed about that one. She's worth it anyway  :P

My advice is just enjoy them and don't think too much about the cost. Maybe you can enjoy recouping some of it with a few bargains!

I paid $300 for a German NBBE Baby Heart Throb back in 1999 or maybe 2000. This was about when she was first discovered.
