To think you can't trust a family member is very sad. Especially since he knew some things in the garage was important. Sometimes it makes me wonder what goes through someones mind to be so thoughtless and heartless. I hope she recovers some of the ponies.

That's awful! And I'm soooooo ticked off about it now. D:
Well, I'm always checking ebay for G1's... So while I'm not in the Texas area, I'll be checking for initials on every pony I buy!

If these ponies are out there for sale, I think the pony community can get a few back, at the very least!

Okay guys... I don't mean to be backseat modding here, but there seems to be a whole lot of hate directed at the brother.  It's very easy for us to put ourselves in the mothers/sisters shoes because we're all avid pony collectors and would be just as devistated if something like this happened to us.  However, we only have part of the story.  We don't know what caused the brother to become so frustrated and angry.  What if the brother is bipolar and went off his meds? In that case, he needs help, not hate.  What if the mother is a hoarder and he was just trying to gain some space?
I'm not trying to justify his actions here, I'm just trying to point out that he's a person too.  How would you feel if you were the mother who came to the community to ask for help, only to discover that everyone has turned on one of your children? We don't know him, we don't know the whole situation.  Let's just do our best to help track down the ponies and improve what we can without tearing down anyone else.

I was thinking along those same lines. I have family members I've become frustrated with, not hoarders but want help cleaning, a garage, or storage room. although you can't really clean anything without some decluttering. You take off an afternoon only to end up shifting around boxes for a few hours accomplishing not much really. In a hot texas garage he may have felt they were rotting out there anyway. (I don't know the climate, here if you left ponies in a garage they would get rusty and moldy within a year or so- but heat is also damaging) He could very well have been worried for his mom, and doing this to "help" her in his mind (she had health issues, so she couldn't handle the clean up herself). While tossing these items obviously wasn't the right thing to do, maybe he wasn't trying to do it maliciously. We just don't know that.

I feel for the mom and sister too. Obviously, being a pony collector I know the strong sentimental attachment I have to them.

I saw this on Tumblr and reblogged it (though I don't have many if any collectors that follow me).
I will make sure to keep an eye out for any of her ponies.

That is such a sad story to read....

Yeah... I had to Google it! Glad I'm not the only one.

This story makes me just sick to my stomach! I sincerely hope this jerk DOES sell the ponies. That way the pony community has a shot at them. If they do turn up on eBay or Craigs List or wherever I really hope that someone posted it on here. I would gladly contribute funds to their safe return. The alternative to him selling the ponies is just too upsetting.

This is just an awful situation all around.  I have many friends still in Houston - I'll make sure they're on the lookout if they see them anywhere, and I'll keep my eyes peeled as well.

I'm looking out as well... and I don't know if people remembered but look at Etsy too, many ponies are sold on there! Are there any other selling services on the internet to look at too? Besides Craigslist, Ebay, Etsy?
