A quick question on behalf of someone who I met who would love to join here: About how long does it take to become registered as a new member? She'd tried years ago, (like 3+ maybe) but I think it never worked out then due to some technical difficulties or something. She has tried to sign up again (This week, I think Mon. maybe) and it's supposed to send you an email to finish registration? But it's been since probably Monday and nothing happened so she worries it's the same way again and unable to join.
I honestly registered so long ago that I have totally forgotten the process and how it worked/how long it took. Thanks for any help with this,

The first new characters in so many years! I am SUPER thrilled at Basic Fun's latest release, even if it doesn't seem to be exactly what the stock art/Hasbro originally intended for this set. The art made the ponies seem like their plastic was marbleized like those 'hi-bounce' balls, or like paper marbling or something like that. The art of the hair was dubious about it having tinsel or not (it seemed to suggest they did) but it was at least glow n show type of length. (These Celestials are lovely, but their hair is normal length and no tinsel at all) However, none of this should slow them down any: they are still amazing and I am mega excited to have them all and be able to buy them for my out of country friends too so everyone can have them. But, now that I have several of each character in the house, it came to attention that what they're doing is stamping the swirls on. It seems kind of likely that they're using whatever method the Flower Fantasy ponies used in their day. This is probably ALSO why BF WAS planning to do the Flower Fantasy ponies and then pulled a switcheroo last minute for these guys because new characters are more exciting. (And also the success of the petition of letter writing that took place here at the Arena and also FB & etc years ago) The FF technology was already there, they just switched it to swirls. What might the device look like? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bD2DNSt8Wb4This youtube video has the wibbly wobbly stamper machine shown that goes on curved, possibly pony surfaces. (Imagine a pony size one of that thing, not big for bowl like it shows here) It's satisfyingly squishy to watch it go. Of course, I don't know for sure what they're doing, but I suspect it and here goes some photos. Here are 2 of her that clearly have the same stamp. It does not apply identically every time, but look at the 'hallmarks' of it, as in red marked on the photos. You can see how the stamper distorts a bit depending on where the pony is when it's done. The leg has the same '2 blob arch', the 'jog' next to the lower heart, the 90 degree left turn at the symbol, the 'wide' in the middle. First visitors can't see pics , please register or loginand then visitors can't see pics , please register or login*The dotted line area is where she took a hit obviously, there's a yellow pale scuff there where there's a 'hole' in the lines. They weren't careful with her at the factory, either that or the swirls are made of delicate paint which would be sad. But my third one looks like this visitors can't see pics , please register or login(The rest of mine have yet to arrive from Amazon) Notice how her body AND head pattern are completely different from the first 2. So what are the questions/how can help? There's a finite number of this pattern stamper. How many patterns do they have? There will be the same amount for heads & bodies. Did they match the right pattern heads with the right matching pattern bodies? (No, the 2 above have the same body but their heads are wildly different) Can you post a photo of your one of her with a body type that is NOT one of the 2 pictured here? It will be very interesting to see how many different ones of each that there are. Will "variant collectors" collect all the variations? Will people start switching their heads to match them?

Been looking for a Danny doll to go with the ponies? Wish they'd made him MOC back in the day? Well have I got a 'deal' for you... visitors can't see pics , please register or loginWait, this isn't the right Danny! (It's Uncle Machete from Sharkboy & Lavagirl movie--comb is his machete!) And he's even scented: "smells like tacos" Found this and thought it was good for a laugh at least. (He's a combination of a vinyl troll doll body & a figure head given hair, with custom clothes by artist KVNorlly) They should have put this up for April Fools Day

I always thought those pony rockers for the baby ponies were a cute idea. It lets her be like 'a little rocking horse' because after all...they are already a horse so don't need to sit on one in order to go rocking. It was a clever accessory to add as it really did work/rock the pony and let you play with anyone who fit on there. I didn't think it was based on a real thing though! That like...these rockers existed for actual horses and ponies and that they seem to actually like riding them? I mean, I do think that all the farm animals who play with the ball, the rope, the toy and such really do like it, so having this tilting thing would probably also be fun. Sure it's not dressed up/cute like the MLP one but it is going exactly the same for large and small with this video: https://www.reddit.com/r/oddlysatisfying/comments/10tglpl/actual_rocking_horses/Do you think they were always invented, and MLP made their own, or is this a recent thing after 1982? I don't live/never near any farms so it's nothing I'd know about but I saw the video and had to at least share that it's a real thing.

Back with the business news... There's some good news for Toys R Us this year in that Macys agreed to let them have a seasonal store in EVERY Macys because (apparently) when they tested it last year or something it did well. TRU opened up that 1 like 'flagship' store in Mall of America but really everyone can't be expected to be near it or go to it or anything...but most people at least know where a Macys is in their town and can go. But don't go yet because it only starts on October 15th and runs thru the holidays. They say the TRU areas will be pretty big too, so it's not like going for some dinky shelf either. https://www.mytotalretail.com/article/macys-and-toysrus-expand-store-in-store-partnership-for-the-holidays/#ne=0065d23431c01fcbd798f468b360e9ac&utm_source=total-retail-report&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=2022-07-20I guess they seem to feel this is a 'return toward brick and mortar' for them, which is great for nostalgia and their supposed new focus which is "just toys & areas to play with it" instead of when they were trying to be a catch-all with boring non-toy stuff too. But are there ponies? Yes, they'll have G5 for sure and probably 4.5 if their website is any indication. The "Just toys" angle is important because they'd mentioned earlier carrying toys from the non-giant brands too, and also not just chasing fads alone---which means a good possible outlet for Basic Fun to get back into retail where you'd expected it to be (unlike expecting ponies in restaurant Cracker Barrel of all the odd things...) Hopefully this is good news for the holiday season and they do really well and get encouraged because I would love to find pony in the toy aisle of an actual toy store again.

Recently I have spotted some professional/published artists doing some MLP fan art and thought it was interesting.
First off a more sneaky-sneaky is the "Unicorns by Rose Kahn" calendar over at Amazon. (I was shopping) If you look at the cover it's obviously Starlite from rainbow bright. But then when you look at the back/months area there's clearly Twilight, Fluttershy, AJ and etc. with Celestia and Luna at the bottom. I guess this one's getting away with it because they are so 'stylized'.
Then, there's Camilla D'Errico who does 'kawaii' Japan style cutie mermaid and big-eye stuff fantasy art. There are a few books by her that turn up for education or coloring book type in Michaels arts store. But when you flip through them...you can find stuff where it's CLEARLY G1, G4 and even G3 characters appearing. (You do have to look in the book though you can't just google image search it up probably because they don't want those potentially copyrighted things to be seen willynilly internet style)
So what's the deal? I thought fan art wasn't allowed to be compiled, published and sold in big box stores? Companies put up with it at conventions and things because that's just local people doing stuff. Does that mean we can do it now? I would always have loved to work on a g1 coloring book for adults where the coloring would be very detailed and beautiful.
If you've seen any of these, what do you think?

Does anyone know how the My Little Wiki is edited? Or who is in charge of it/or its sections if there's multiple people doing it (as is usually the case with wikis)? On it, it says 'check the arena'...so that's what I'll do. If it is able to be contacted, I'd like to request a small change to a few words and then can add a photo that is marked for 'wanted', but I wanted to be sure to go about it the right way.

Well, the bad man DeJoy isn't out of the office yet so... It's that time of year again, time for the USPS to slow down your packages while they raise the rates on shipping. I'm a bit late with the announcement this year from the usual business news sources (sorry) so you only have until Oct. 3 to send out items for the holidays (or buy them) at normal postal prices. This doesn't seem to be affecting out of the country? So hopefully pen pals are safe from hikes. This page here https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/usps-prices-go-up-oct-3-heres-how-much-mail-will-cost-now-and-for-how-long/ar-AAP0zDp?ocid=uxbndlbinghas the chart of what will be affected. Fortunately pony stuff is rarely over 10 pounds worth, so it will not see the worst of the hikes. Amazon also won't be affected, but I know there are Etsy users and Etsy fans here and last year it was affected so probably this year too it will. Likely Ebay too? What's good: Last year they were honest* and put the rates back down after Dec whatevereth, so it'll do that again Dec is also possibly a chance for the postal board to oust this DeJoy guy for any of a myriad reasons so that the PO can become normal again and it won't have to do this every year. As usual, if you want to expend a stamp, write or call your state legislators and ask for DeJoy to be removed. *Honest? Yes, they hiked rates last year at about mid/late Oct but they really did put them down again once the season ended. A dishonest example was the airlines and the bag fees, before 9/11 there didn't used to be those and then they implemented and just kept them. Same with the price of gas before and after=went up and stayed up.

Well an unpleasant discovery. I was in a mall that had an (unusual now a days) Hallmark store. I decided to bop in because I knew that this year was to have Powder as their G1 ornament and I really wanted her, because I love that pose and that pony. The sculpt in the preview factory photos was also really nice. I then found her on the shelf and bought her right away (They had 2 left after mine) because I don't want to pay like 30 on Ebay or Amazon or whatever like the past years are going for. All told, she was about 17 dollars (15 with tax) When I got her home and deboxed though...she was broken! Someone snapped the back leg off and it is re-glued with really really strong glue at a garbage-looking angle. The tail also prevents where the leg would have to go to look normal, even if I could break through the glue without further damaging her. So I got mad and started to tell friends "check in the store first! I'm going to return this!" But then...........I can't find ANY ONE who has one that is NOT broken??? There's also a lot of complaining on Facebook as people find her, start to buy her and then she is broken. Like, if it was a 5 dollar ornament, I wouldn't care so much. I'd be disappointed, but it wouldn't be that big of a deal and I'd buy more than one and experiment on it. But this was 17 dollars! Broken! Doesn't even look good! Big obvious crack! Can you imagine getting her on Christmas morning or a kid getting her and she's just broken like that? SO. I want to complain. Hallmark shouldn't get away with knowingly selling broken trashy items for so much money. They're also all broken, so you can't just go into the franchise store and try to return or exchange because they're all like that? Has anyone here seen a photo (a customer's photo) where it isn't broken? Know anybody to prove there is one not? I can't find a person so far. How should complaining be done? I thought to gather photos from different people where each one is obviously someone else who has her (diff background, diff hands holding it, etc) and then make a montage-group pic or something out of it and then dump it on Hallmark's facebook? I can't twitter. People ought to be warned before they spend 17 on a broken ornament this year. What's the best way to do it? This is what it looks like visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or login

Maybe someone here is a better Tumblr detective than I am but this is SUPERIOR news if it is actual recent news / communication. I am obviously reblogging this, but I cannot seem to sniff out the date the original poster posted it to tumblr or got communicated to by BF. The timing super-matters because if they got told at like Nov/Dec 2020....it's rubbish news because we all know what happened at Target where they took down the shelf prices/got rid of their place to host the BF ponies. It would invalidate it. BUT if this person got told/communicated like.........now....or AFTER Target did the thing, then that means ponies really are coming back in August because it is new news from the official source of it. https://ahorseofeverycolor.tumblr.com/post/652320291785211904/heckyeahponyscans-thanks-to-rodneytheponydudeI am cautiously excited...

It's not 100% Pony related but... Back with business news that's probably fairly relevant. Toys R Us has been sold again, now WHP Global has hold of it. The backstory is that TRU got liquidated in 2018 due to the badness of a thing called Bain Capital who had set out to ruin it (yes on purpose, they are mean) so they could have its valuable real estate. (The stores were huge and always built on the 'outskirts of town' long ago when they were building them from scratch---but as 'town' got busier/expanded everywhere the big stores were no longer on the edge and their value went way up, so it made sense to kill it and take the land away to get money.) The new owner of it wants to direct it into expanding again by trying to bring back the website so people can buy online at prices that beat other places because they're aware of like...Target & Amazon I guess. Which is good because TRU would generally have the toy you wanted but the price would be above other stores and never go on sale. Also they say 'working with companies that ONLY make toys' is a priority too, because that's Basic Fun. They're not trying to be 'the everything store', with like strollers and bibs and computer monitors and just random mess. Unique & Classic toys also get mentioned...which is probably more good news. The business article is at https://www.digitalcommerce360.com/2021/03/16/toys-r-us-is-sold-again-as-whp-global-takes-controlling-stake/?utm_source=IRN&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=IRN-2021&_hsmi=116435432&_hsenc=p2ANqtz--wfMzurbftVg2L3VmUx3QT8Q_IfkDo3rH9v5Mg58vxIkUwJ4PGrMMP5sNBd94ZAI8CXCFtAVZFminvAVSymjRqj3koNQNotice how the article doesn't blame Bain Capital, they just say 'it had crushing debt' , as if TRU just magically ruined itself, but Bain IS the reason it had that. I really hope it comes back in retail of some sort, I miss being able to go to a literal toy-store, not just a toy-section.
