Title: trevobegeman_0 And poniesandpetals *Updated*
Post by: achab1984 on November 20, 2017, 05:07:20 PM
I just wanted to give a heads up on the seller. I know they did just sell a lot of G1 ponies and buildings in the last week! I bided on a baby pony and won her. Well the thing is I bought and paid for her 8 days ago!  I was going to open a case in the morning and guess what! I get a tracking number! I still am going to leave them the feedback they have earned! If you have bought from this seller and still waiting I would love to hear from you!

Now I have another one to add to this list! poniesandpetals, I bought a pony from them on the 24th. I still don't have a tracking number and no pony yet. I messaged the seller and they said the pony was sent out and would be right back with the tracking. That was  four days ago and still no message back or taking or pony! I sent them another message the other day and still nothing. Yet they have listed more items for sale on ebay! Why do I buy from these kind of people!!!  :( GGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRR

I'm sorry that you had a disappointing waiting time for your parcel to be posted , that can be really frustrating I know
haven't had chance to check out their ebay profile ,, but what does the seller say about shipping times? sometimes there are people who can only ship once a week etc  and will mention in the description that your marcel may not be shipped for  (insert number)  days . What was your estimated arrival time? :what:   I would check out all of those things first before considering what feedback to leave about shipping times just to make sure ;)
If the person is supposed to have shipped more quickly than they have but they've been delayed for some reason, they should have at least contacted you to let you know that :awake:

It said that my arrival time would be today and they printed off the label yesterday.
It says standard shipping with no shipping time anywhere on the listing.

The only description that there is on the listings is it says Dots.

When I go under there feedback they have 2 negative for never sending out the item to the seller. And 1 neutral for very slow shipping.

This seller needs to post that its going to take a week for the item to me mailed out. That will save them from more bad feedback.

Thank you for your advice Ringlets!

Note, I have been checking the tracking number and also called the postal office and they said that the package has not been picked up yet or brought to the postal office with that tracking number!

eek! I hope your parcel gets to you soon, although I must say sometimes if they use a drop box, and it's rather full, they might not bother to scan it at pick-up, and it might be well and truly on it's way before anyone actually scans it. I've had packages that were first scanned at customs!

Well I got the pony and she is in great condition for her age. I did not leave horrible feedback but I did leave for very slow shipping and not messaging back the buyer when asking a question.

Good to hear your pony arrived + was in good shape, though!  :)

I use imgur now. It's free. :)

Glad you got your pony! Just sad you had to wait a bit to get her.

Hope you didn't bid $20 because of her photos... she is a master at disguising flaws in photos!  :(  And she's been known to use unknown hair product that isn't 100% washed out...
After many years of making collectors crazy with her "Dot100Dogs" ID, she switched to the "poniesandpetals" ID.

After many years of making collectors crazy with her "Dot100Dogs" ID, she switched to the "poniesandpetals" ID.

This is what she posted in her listing! Her hair was set with just water only and curled with sponge curlers, (no curling irons). She is in excellent condition. But now that I look super close to the pictures it looks like the front forlock is cut! There is nothing in the listing about it either.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-My-Little-Pony-1989-SPARKLER-RARE-Very-Pretty-/263330284757?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=vljCttC7bZ9CVMqHLQcP47nT2WY%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

This is the pony!

And why does her pictures of a blue tint to the them? She had a show and glow listed and it looked the pony was blue in color while her true color is green. The seller paid a lot for her and was not happy with it by there feedback! I would not be either!

Hmmm well I would say definitely closely document what you know about this listing and the pony... screenshots and all...

if you're overall happy with the pony and for what you paid, that's cool.  that means you are one of the lucky transactions with her, because those do happen too!  :)
Just.... if you feel that the photos were very very professional and made the deciding factor for you instead of The Pony (that might need cleaning) then usually you are overpaying since you're emotionally attached.

Confession: even *I* have bought from her on Ebay ;) ;) ;)  but it was TOTALLY a 120% impulse moment.  I was happy with my pony but did in the end, wish that I had spent less, at the offset of having to clean one up more so!

but i hope that she is lovely and has a personality that you fall in love with!  :)

Oh lord, that chick that been around for a long while! I remember the commotion she caused with Dot100Dogs but I had forgotten she changed her name and was the same person.  What a piece of work!  He/She/It/Unicorn (not sure if she is male or female) should not still be allowed to be selling on eBay.

@lovesbabysquirmy  - You should start a list of eBay sellers who are proven trustworthy and members of the Arena.  That might actually help direct a lot of new buyers.

Yes I do hope she is what I think she was when I saw the post! I thought that I was getting a good deal but now I see there are a few others listed for the same price also. :(

You want to know what is funny. I went on ebay tonight and now it shows the pony was not shipped. That little box picture is dark when the item is shipped but it no longer is. There still is a tracking number? I have never had that happen before! LOL

Even if that pony is clean I still am going to clean her myself. I cant stand all that smelly stuff others do sometimes. I have bad allergies and asthma.

Yes a list with good sellers sure would be nice to have to look at! :)

I can try to work out some kind of "Good Pony Sellers" list  but it's hard to do, without coming across as, "These are my friends and you should ONLY buy from THEM".

Knowing that a seller is a good one before you get knee-deep in a transaction, kind of takes a few years of feeling out the market, I don't know if it's something that can be put into words.

However I have spent the past week MASSIVELY updating the Bad Trader List and I am about to debut its latest version but a list of "good sellers", yeah that I can probably do!  :)

Ok wanted to post an update! I got the pony today and she is very nice. It does suck that she has a forelock cut though. When her hair is pulled back you don't see it so much. The rest of her is good. She did not have any stuff in her hair to make it stiff and dry. I did wash her thought right away. I wont buy from her again for the slow shipping. And the messages she sent back to me and no tracking info.

She did list that the pony had a haircut, but it was deep in the description!  Certainly not something just jumped out at me.  Just put her on your "do not deal" list.  She purposefully hides flaws all the time.

Oh wow, I didn't realize this was the same person as Dot100Dogs.  Yeah, she has quite a history.

I wish there was a "don't want to buy from this seller" option on eBay because how the heck are you supposed to tell if they change their name?  I don't think the 'blocked bidder' list prevents you from buying from them . . .

I wish it did have that kind of alert system, but unfortunately you still have to search the sellers' ID manually through the Bad Trader List to see if anything comes up.  Ebay is not really helpful for us collectors in that sense.

Glad you got your pony in the end - what a nightmare!

I have seen poniesandpetals, but I did not know that they were a seller to be wary of, thank you for the information! I was VERY tempted by that blue glow n show - interesting that the buyer was not happy.

The talk about a good traders list I think I have the same reservations about as LBS...the risk is you omit people who you might not personally know - and also it's not unknown for someone with a good reputation to go bad. Then the Arena might end up endorsing someone and a buyer might do fewer checks  because the Arena says that this person is good.

We have a system of feedback on the Arena which really doesn't care how long you have been in the community, although I have to admit I know of at least one user (not on here now hence why I'm not naming them, still on ebay but no recent negative feedback) who have positive Arena feedback and who have done unspeakable trading things to people they've dealt with in the past. Those experiences have not been documented because people were generally too frightened to leave honest feedback because of the cliques surrounding them. You'd only know about them if you remembered it happening, or were a victim, as opposed to just being able to trust feedback. It is very possible if you have a popular reputation platform to intimidate people into not owning up about their experiences, and a good trader list on the Arena could help to reinforce that popular reputation.

On the flipside of that, some people first come online and make mistakes but later actually do become good traders. I have memory of people like that, too - people who do occasionally still sell here now, with 100% good feedback, who have been hounded out of the community in the past for certain actions. Again, that's the result of a long memory (and an active involvement back then in policing scammers on mailing lists, as we mostly did at that time), but people aren't always just 'good' or 'bad'. Some are consistently both, but it's a very grey area and as we've seen with some situations, some people have a better experience with the same seller than others. That makes 'good' and 'bad' subjective. It's easier to describe the facts of a bad transaction that leads to loss of money/damaged pony/etc than it is to just offer opinions.

In the old days, if a person was new, there was the active request for references that would go out, usually by asking for three or four email addresses of people who could endorse that person, but again obviously that system was also open to abuse from people supporting their friends and such like.

I think it's better to have the bad trader list only, and encourage instead buyers to do research on their seller before buying (whether here or on ebay or etsy or wherever). It's never a foolproof system, but at least if you do your homework, you've a better chance of finding out.

I don't object either to having somewhere on the site an option to list my ebay id. Ebay no longer shows IDs in bidding competitions and so it's not like the old days, when someone could use your id and stalk the auctions you were bidding on just to outbid you. So that might be an option - but I don't think it's generally for the Arena to have a list of good traders  now that the community is so big.

I have reservations about a Good Traders List too.  Primarily that a lot of bad traders have, like, 90% good trades, 10% scams / bad trades.  That makes it difficult to actually know who to put on a good trader list. Because maybe I had a great transaction with a seller and would wholeheartedly put them on a good trader list . . . while being unaware that they'd been a horrible seller to someone else.

-nod- I'd be wary about a "good seller" list, too. It's all too possible for a good seller to go bad, unfortunately, and if that happened then there'd be every chance of someone getting scammed by them and then holding the list responsible because "it said they were a good seller!!".
Title: Re: trevobegeman_0 And poniesandpetals *Updated*
Post by: Taffeta on December 06, 2017, 01:42:01 PM
Well, it just reminded me as well of the Baby Bouncy fiasco, whose actual MO was to do three or four good trades with well-known people who could give her reputable references, and then on the fifth try she'd scam and not send her half of the trade. If she didn't keep the scammed pony, she'd later sell the pony on ebay or trade it to someone else to build references again so that she could continue using this method to get rare ponies.

I lost a Baby Candy to her once. I have only ever been scammed twice in 20 years and the other time was a personal spite attack rather than a proper scammer out to get everyone. I consider people like that Baby Bouncy probably still exist, and we'd be opening ourselves up to them if we assumed good trader is always good.

You're only as good as your last transaction, and anyone who values their trade or sale reputation should feel that way, because you have to go the extra mile with every transaction, not just the ones you need to get on a good trader list.

Yeah I really don't believe that our oldest MLP scammers have actually gone away.  People like Sayuri and Lexi, I am certain they are still out there, just it's so much harder to track info with the advent of social media vs privacy.

So yeah... one always has to look at feedback and make that decision personally for what THEY are comfortable with!  :D
