Gen 3 definitely gets my vote. Beautiful and diverse toys, nice animation, tons of fun merch. Not crazy about the cartoon, but its not bad.

G3! They're made very well (the playsets too), have such vibrant colors, a wide variety of ponies! The reason they're my second favorite and G1 is my first is because G3 doesn't have many pegasi and unicorns (unicorns especially) compared to G1, nor as many interesting and unique gimmicks. But man, they sure are made well!

g3 definitely. i feel like they're comparable to g1's quality and character design, much more so than the other gens.

G3 because of the variety. If you ignore the Bore 7 and the overuse of pink/purple they are awesome :D I love the different poses too.

Generation four! I grew up on it and G3, but I remember G4 the most. The early seasons of the show were awesome, and are probably the reason why I love cartoons so much. I also loved styling my target bagged brushables like the show. I also played with McDonald ponies and used their accessories as magical items in my stories. I find the chibi-ness cute :) So much nostalgia :biggrin:

G4 for me because I have been actively collecting them for the last 6 years or so and I have an attachment to my herd.
For all practical purposes I should like G3 more because of the diversity, holiday themes and I like that they look more like G1. But they all were in stores when I was not collecting so I don't have any attachment to them. I keep boxes of my daughter's, Niece's and thrift find G3's just in case I fall in love with them someday.

As second, so after the GEN1 I love the actual GEN "Friendship is Magic" the most! Beeecause of the cartoon!! I'm in love with it, did like the toy less because as toys, it's the vintage GEN1 & GEN2 who stole my heart. But in real, I love all the ponies (except the GEN3.5 with their big heads and tiny bodies. Hugh).

G3 is my second favourite after G1 for many of the reasons that have already been stated - variety of poses, colours, cute animation (The Runaway Rainbow melted my heart to the Nth degree) and the pegasi with the tints of colour on their wings are just plain sublime! :heart: It also holds a special place in my heart because when G3 came out, that was a little bit before the *urrgh* of teenage years - it always brings back memories of simpler times in life. :)

It's a very VERY hard choice for me between g2 and g3, but in the end I went with g2. One thing that puts them slightly higher is how nice their packaging is. I absolutely love g2 packaging. g3 packaging isn't as sweet to me, only the special ones like the crystal princess line (I'm a sucker for gems and gem-shaped stuff haha) and the heart-shaped, pumpkin or snowglobes . But yeah g2 wins for me!

Ten years ago I would've said G3 without hesitation but now I am giving it serious thought. I think probably it will still be g3, but I have a new appreciation for G2 with some of the POTW. I like several of the G4 pony brushables and the new sea ponies are adorable, but I hate everything that's come with it as baggage so that sort of spoils that generation for me. That and the insistence of judging past generations by G4, which I cannot stand. I realised over time that that matters more than the fact I don't like the show, because I spent a long time not really liking the G1 show, and I am not a fan of the G3 one either. So I realised any meh I have about G4 comes from idiot behaviour regarding it.
There was a lot of trouble over G2 as well but it was so long ago now it's a distant memory and I've got past seeing them and being reminded of the conflicts but I guess that hasn't happened yet for me with G4. I suspect in ten years I will have a different appreciation for them than I do now because that undertone will have gone away (obviously I am talking about stuff not at the Arena but on the net/in the world in general).
So I am still thinking but it will be between G2 and G3 because until the idiot people put G4 in their proper place alongside all the other generations as part of the family rather than some bizarre thing from which to create drama and disturbing explicit graphics, I find it hard to connect to G4 :/

Im with Taffeta on this, if you would have asked me 10 or even 5 years ago I would have said G3 without a doubt! I love them, their diversity, their beautiful and detailed symbols... its just love <3 But recently I have fallen in love with G2 too, they are so adorable <3 So, its a close thing, I still chose G3 because their symbols are a bit more detailed and cute compared to the G2. I love G4 too but more as a cute toy and not so deeply like I love the others.

I don't have a second favourite generation, but I must say that I really like some of the G2 designs. :D I will never collect them because I simply don't like their shape, but everytime a G2 is POTD, I am pleasantly surprised by their colour schemes and symbols (and accessories!).

Gen 2! It's more of a nostalgia thing for me, since even though I grew up with Gen 1, Gen 2 came out when I was still fairly young (10) and I played with them, developed personalities in my head for them, etc. As a whole they aren't the prettiest ponies (at least not the U.S. releases), but I just like them. Oh, and they were the catalyst that got 10-year-old me into serious pony collecting. So I have them to thank for that.

G1 will always be my favorite since I grew up with it. But I probably have more G4 ponies than G1 at this point, so my vote goes to G4.

G3 for me. I grew up with G1 so that's my favourite gen, but I discovered G3 next so there's some nostalgia there (even though I discovered them in my late 20s!). It's the variety, the colours and the symbols etc. that just excite me so much. I ADORE the Winter Series G3s most of all, followed by the Birthflower ponies - gorgeous! :)

G3 all the way. G1s will always be my passionate favourite, and the fact that their design is inspired by the G1 ponies makes me love them like cousins to the originals. There's something very pleasing about G1 and G3s chunky bodies, they feel lovely and substantial in the hand and look very attractive. The G2s always seemed like desperately underfed ponies in need of a good square meal. I don't mind the G4s (except for the Equestria Girls line, I can't stand them), but I don't collect them.
