Hi,
This has come up in the "Pony Last to to Post" game and it got me curious about it. Why are there so many varations/flaws with Sunset Shimmer? I bought my Sunset Shimmer quite a while ago and she has a large red tail with only a tiny yellow stripe with just a few strands mixed in with the red.

Flaws? r eally?
mines fine.
have a lot of other people said she had them?

My masquerade Sunset Shimmer had an icky crunchy tail xD My Through the Mirror Sunset Shimmer is a touch nicer... still an icky tail though.

My DOLL Sunset Shimmer has bad dark colored hair, and I have been unable to find a set with GOOD hair in stores! D:
I am sad I bought the set before I learned about the EQG doll hair problems, but at the same time, It taught me about them, so, meh. I'll probably buy a second set if I ever see one with GOOD hair!

I've been finding that the tails on G4s in general have been lacking in QC lately... :S

A lot of people report that G4s with the new headmolds have bad tail quality. :/ Seems to be an universal problem.

So it changed around the time new headmolds were introduced? Interesting...

My masquerade Sunset Shimmer has a dry-thin tail that I'm afraid to wash and style. G4 ponies are in my opinion very poor quality and cheaply made. I have a Twilight with pink head and a purple body who looks terrible but I keep her because she is the bangs version. I wish Hasbro would reintroduce the g3 ponies, they were so lovely, and so much thought went into making them.

Yeah my Sunset Shimmer is definitely a member of the Poofy Straw Tail club. She's otherwise fine though.

Mine is still mib
I need to find the newest brushable

I am guessing maybe its a change in production. It could be that the bodies are being moulded and the tail added a completely different point in production than they used to. So it could be a different supplier/batch for the hair used for the tail perhaps?
Also does anyone else feel more effort in general seems to go into the head - much more hair, effort being made to change the mould. G4s in general, certainly the most recent ones, seem a little out of balance.

I don't remember any really big faults when I bought her, except that quite a number of hairs were lodged in the neck groove. That was super annoying to get untangled.

My Sunset Shimmer (with the mask)'s tail is bad too, thin and dry right out of the box, and the colours are a slightly different shade to the mane.

So it's something that's happening more since the new headmolds? I don't have a lot G4s but even in the package I can see how weird Sunset Shimmer's tail is. I thought that was the way it was supposed to be until I saw other Sunset Shimmers in Walmart with the two colors mixed in their tails.

In general G4 tails have always been poorer quality than manes but in the last few months and last few releases I have noticed more and more complaints about them. The only thing which it might coincide with is the new head mould - they seem to have happened around the same time, yes. But as mentioned that does not mean every pony which was released pre the new mould are good - unfortunately some of them still have issues [just not to the same degree].
