Title: Ponywear sewing patterns?
Post by: Khoufu on September 18, 2018, 09:40:37 AM
Hi, I'm looking for ponywear patterns. Capes are easy enough to figure out but I don't have any pony shirts or the like to make a pattern from. Any generation would be appreciated.

Stalking this thread. I've tried before but I'm not great with patterning.

Stalking this too, I was just talking about my project to sew a black jacket to my short-haired TE Galaxy. ^^

That would be amazing! I don't know that I would be able to do it, since it is very small and I am not so awesome at small things... I sewed an American Girl shirt, and it was not my favorite thing. It ended adorably, though.

Stalking! The bushes are getting full!

I sewed my first small thing last night: a teddy bear keychain. It was simple, the only parts that gave me trouble were embroidering the eyes and turning and stuffing, which wouldn't apply to ponywear.

I hope someone comes by with help beforehand the stalker bushes are completely overrun.

I'll help out by linking my own old thread: http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,388847.0/topicseen.html You can see my attempt in the spoiler. I can't find the shirt I used anymore (what the heck!) but if you have any ponywear on hand it's not TOO hard to get something that looks somewhat like it by tracing the shapes and keeping seam allowance in mind.

I made a few of my own ponywear patterns a couple years ago, but I'm not sure where they are at this point (I just moved). I'll see if I can dig them up.

Okay so I couldn't find my patterns but I drew up a quick pattern draft. You will need to tweak it and make sure to add seam allowances! I usually do 1/4 or 1/2 an inch and then trim to 1/4inch. You will need to tweak the sleeve hole and sleeve cap, plus probably the seam that goes between the legs (I feel like it might need a dart in there. If there is excess fabric under there find where it naturally folds and make that a dart). It will vary slightly depending on what pony you are putting the shirt on. I would cut it out from scrap fabric first and try it on your pony, then you can see where you need to make adjustments. Then tweak that on your paper pattern! The sleeve can be sewn on the proper way, or fold the seam allowance under on the sleeve cap and hand stitch onto the sleeve opening (doesn't look quite as smart but loads easier). If I have time later tonight I might go make a mock up but I need to go put in fencing for my goats now!
