Hi! I created this dragon for the My Little Pony Fair 2014 Original Custom division entry. He won FIRST PLACE! Yay!!

He is Apoxie Sculpt, Fixit Sculpt, Createx Acrylic Airbrush, Artist acrylics, FW Liquid acrylics in metallic. Fantasy Film wings. Sealed with MSC and Triple Thick Gloss for the eyes. He took about 32 (give or take) hours to complete (months of work between commissions).

He stands about 10" high and 11" wide with his horns and wings. Weighs about 4 lbs.

He is also for sale, I do hate to sell him but I could really use the money right now. I will not offer him for this low price ever again---He took so many hours and so much materials.

Hi Pixie!
I use a base coat of sealer on mine and MR. Super Clear is exactly what I use! I use flat. It also makes it really easy to wipe off mistakes. DO make sure you are prepping your bait with 100% acetone or 71% rubbing alcohol right before painting. Oils from your fingers can stay causing the paint not to adhere properly.

Magenta is typically a very transparent pigment with a smaller pigment load (less actual color in the paint) Yellow is another that is like this as well as neons and other colors. your best bet is to paint a layer of WHITE first and then use thin layers of magenta built up to get the effect you want. You can also use a dense pink as a base or like you were doing mixing the magenta with white, then doing a final few coats of pure magenta to get it just right. Thin coats are the key to making it look smooth and not gloppy.

So about 3 months ago I took my Etsy shop down because I was getting a bit overwhelmed (it's our busy season at work, I needed focus) and I was not quite so happy with the quality of my needles. I had done a lot of research already into the handle aspect of my tools, but I needed to focus more on needles.

2 months of research and sixty (60!!!) types and brands of needles later I finally found THE BEST. They last super super longer than the others I had, I'm very tickled with them.

They are for sale in THIS Thread via Etsy. http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,349985.msg1103861.html#msg1103861

I ONLY HAVE 5 tools left for the fair, if you want 100% to get one at the fair please pre-order!!!

I have a limited amount of tool handles right now, I do have more on the way however I do not know if they will arrive before the fair. If you would like to pre-order your tools/needles before the fair I can guarantee that you will receive them at the fair. Obviously no shipping----please use MLPFAIR14 as the coupon code on etsy.

Any orders using this code and requesting shipping will be refunded.

Customs / Re: Pony modification questions - mostly acetone related

I Wear Gloves because of this:

Potential Chronic Health Effects:
CARCINOGENIC EFFECTS: A4 (Not classifiable for human or animal.) by ACGIH. MUTAGENIC EFFECTS: Not available.
TERATOGENIC EFFECTS: Not available. DEVELOPMENTAL TOXICITY: Classified ****Reproductive system/toxin/female,
Reproductive system/toxin/male [SUSPECTED]. The substance is toxic to central nervous system (CNS). The substance may
be toxic to kidneys, the reproductive system, liver, skin. Repeated or prolonged exposure to the substance can produce target
organs damage."****

That is from the MSDS on Acetone. I use 100% acetone on my ponies and deflocks because it works the best and doesn't smear the paint around.

So yes, PLEASE wear gloves. It really can cause damage.

Customs / Re: Mod podge + TONS of glitter layers...?
« on: June 18, 2014, 01:40:56 PM »
The reason I ask is if you use GLOSS coat of anything it will make the glitter look deeper and more glittery. The light is able to penetrate the gloss layers easily and causes the glitter to refract on layers (because the glitter will be at all different angles. I've done a lot with glitter ponies and it give a "bass boat paint" appearance. I'm sure she looks sunning ;) Can't wait to see her!!

Yep, that ^ is fine for an oven temp. If it's a thin sculpt you can also dip boil it to cure :)
