Pony Brag Arena / Re: Excited shelf expansion type brag XD

Looking forward to seeing when your set up is complete.  ^.^ Setting up shelves can be so exciting. I'm hoping to rearrange things around my room to fill one of my closets with shelves to display my herd sometime soon.

Pony Corral / Removing lipstick stains... from a so-soft? *cringe*
« on: January 22, 2014, 04:02:22 PM »
Again, if this is the wrong area please let me know. From what I gather, pony restoration still falls under the customizing category?

Anyway... as mentioned in my intro at some point during my sister's childhood she decorated her so-soft truly with lipstick.  Truly was passed down to me and today she had her first bath in what was most likely over two decades.

I wasn't at all surprised that the bath did nothing for her yellowed body and the pink stains covering her. They are around her eyes, her mouth and on her hoofs. I tried researching about whitening so-softs and removing red stains from white bodies... lipstick stains have given me trouble on several of my adopted ponies. I haven't found any helpful information for this issue, though.

Deflocking is not an option. I don't want to and it's beyond my skills.  >_< I highly doubt the whitening creams would be a smart idea on this baby either. I'm at a loss for what to do. Can so-soft ponies be sun faded? Am I completely out of luck?

This is the appropriate section, right?
I know literately next to nothing about G4 and  I was looking at pictures on the My Little Wiki and I found a page about "Taobao Ponies" and it linked to places to buy... on one of the sites I came across this adorable thing.

The site wasn't in english and I was having an awful time trying to translate it. Does she/he have a name..? How big are these types of ponies and is there anywhere I could snag them? I've never seen anything quite like it.

Thank you.

Pony Corral / Re: What is your 2014 MLP goal?

My new goal this year is to locate the G3 Breast Cancer awareness pony. I'd never heard of her until a few minutes ago and I'm having trouble finding out information on this beauty. (price, rarity, etc)

Customs / Rehairing Princess Tiffany
« on: January 21, 2014, 08:00:39 PM »
I'm currently working towards restoring my Princess Tiffany and I'm having difficulty finding tinsel that is just right. I know that Virgin Snow is the white color and I had found a website through the MLP Preservation Project with tinsel that looked to be a close match... sadly I'm coming to realize that these sites aren't up to date and I have no clue if I'll ever hear back on the order I had placed. My mom had good luck ordering from dollyhair so I'll probably place an order for the white hair. Silver tinsel is abundant on ebay and amazon but I have no clue how to tell if one will be a match or even something I can work with? Any advice would be appreciated and I hope that this is the correct place to post.  :)

One of my sisters found him at a thrift store a couple years back and after a lot of pestering, she let me have him. I'm glad for that - otherwise he'd probably be the in the hands of my four year old nephew. He's my only Big Brother so far and he's in surprisingly good shape. A few days ago I discovered the MLP Preservation Project and I was disappointed to find out that the person creating replica hats and scarves was no longer active. His only real issues though seems to be untamed hair and a bit of dirt. (sorry for the quality of the photo - it's too cold to take him outside for better lighting)

Thank you everyone for the warm welcomes. I'm currently trying to find my way around here. I'm a bit lost but I think I'll manage.  ^.^

I realized after the fact that I didn't include much in my intro about myself that wasn't pony related so I went ahead and edited it a little.  :P

Introductions / Hi hi

Hello Arena! Longtime stalker here - probably since about 2007?
I was always too intimidated to join.
However, my sister (TwistedRiver) recently signed up and I thought what the heck, I will too. :)
I can be found on the Trading Post as well but I haven't logged on there in ages.

My obsession with ponies comes from my sister. Unfortunately G1 wasn't on the market for my childhood. (I'll be twenty this February)

While growing up TwistedRiver was nice enough to give me a few ponies
from her collection. Cotton Candy, So Soft Truly ((she's in desperate need of a sprucing up... there is remains of lipstick on her face. Why, sis? Why?!))
At some point she also gave me Princess Tiffany.
She's one of my very favorites and her hair is a wreck. I need to find a suitable replacement white for rehairing and hope I can find tinsel that will cooperate.

Kingsley the Lion was also one of my childhood 'ponies' (however she was
known as 'Paws') and at some point I remember she opened up her own
movie theater (Paws Company: Movies Three) and I borrowed my sisters
Caramel Crunch (aka 'Popcorn') to help out.  :P

The last of my childhood G1 collections included a baby Sunshower seapony and
Tropical Breeze the Flutter Pony (aka 'Flamingo')
Tropical is also in pretty bad shape. I intent to buy replacement wings - however she is missing the piece that the tabs would attach to... how should I handle that?

Over the last four years my G1 collection has tripled.
However none of them are as special to me as the hand me downs from TwistedRiver.
She let me play with a good portion of her collection while I was little and she has so many that I want to steal.

Setting G1 aside I had an assortment of childhood fakies.
Yes, I adore fakies. <3 At least the majority of them.
But I can recall that during my early g3 collecting
there was a time in their world where they were separated and g3 Minty would
slip away to play with them in secret.

Minty was my first G3 and another surprise present from my sister.
She included the Charming Birthday VHS tape. I watched it several times that night and the following day Sparkleworks joined the family.
Now a decade later I have well over 100 G3 ponies (quite a bit more than my sister - yay! :P) and I honestly don't know half of their names anymore.

A lot of our collection is thriftstore finds. Lots of the G3s became bait in our customizing attempts. (we have a long way to go but it's still fun... and G3 ponies are still abundant)

I have a very hard time viewing earlier generations as bait and I've become obsessed with the idea of restoration.

Unfortunately I have nowhere to display my collections... the poor things are tangled inside bins.  :(

I'm also a proud owner of a custom by Lady Minty <3 <3 <3
I'm so sad that her website is gone. It was where I was first introduced to the concept of custom ponies.
Sadly most of my favorite pony sites from years ago no longer exist. (I also have a 7belles custom and her site seems to be long gone too?)
I have a few other customs from ebay I got around 2007 and I sadly have no idea who created them. I hope to post pictures at some point and see if anyone can identify them.

Lastly I feel the need to mention that for the most part I am not at all fond of Friendship is Magic. I personally feel that it has ruined MLP and it saddens me to see how downhill the series has gone. I will admit that I am a hypocrite - I do own a few G4 toys. As a random toy here and there I find them cute but I don't like them as a whole. I'll admit that I haven't given the show a chance but from what I have seen it just doesn't seem to hold any charm. A part of me is still bothered by G2 and G3 ponies as well... G1 seems to hold the most
charm out of all of them but seeing as G3 was a big part of my life I can't bring myself to dislike them.
I'd say that my biggest complaint for FIM is that they revamped existing ponies but G1 collectors could argue that about G3. But I can't help it... Rainbow Dash is not a Pegasus and Fluttershy is a pink earth pony with a fondness for taking pictures.
For reasons like this I have renamed my cute G4 pegasus to Flutterby instead.

Ah well. I think I've rambled on a bit too much. I'm very excited to be here.  ^.^

Edit:
I realized I didn't write anything about who I actually am.   >_< Doh!
So, as for who I am... Most call me Hannah, some call me Bob. Why Bob, you ask? Well, why not Bob?
I am nineteen years old and I was born the day before Valentines day.
I'm a bit slow and anti-social. It can take me a long time to recognize sarcasm, or the punchline of a joke. As of April 2012 I have been receiving disability.
I recently lost my wonderful cat to mammary cancer. I miss you so much baby girl.
I'm a pack rat. I collect way too many things and I have no where to display them all. Some of my collections include My Little Pony, Tamagotchi, Calico Critters and other doll house miniatures, Nintendo merchandise, Owls and classic Winnie the Pooh.

We currently have five cats and a big dog. Life is not complete without them. Unfortunately, I can't trust the cats with any of my collections. Since I adopted a new kitten I had to pack up all my dollhouse miniatures.

I enjoy dipping peapods into caramel.

That last fact was absolutely necessary.
