Off Topic / Re: The Trivial Complaints Thread ... #3

My parents can be so infuriating at times.   :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh:

My mom wanted to go the hospital to pay a bill.  My dad put the address in his phone, but didn't listen/follow the directions when it told him to stay on a certain street.   He was also complaining that "the phone's not talking to me" but it was because he had his phone's volume all the way down.

We get to the hospital and of course, we're not at the right part.  I went in with my mom while she asked where to go and the lady working at the desk said she'd show us how to get there.  The part we needed to be at was down a long hallway and down to elevator to the basement.    After my mom took care of everything, I said we should probably go back to where we started so my dad could find us.  Instead, she followed a bunch of people outside and called my dad trying to tell him where we were.   He passed us in the car and then my mom decided to try to chase down the car, not paying attention in the parking lot for cars or really looking where she was going.   We stayed outside for a few minutes waiting for my dad (he'd driven to the wrong side of the building based on my mom's directions and where he thought we were.

We got back in the car and my dad's frustrated.  Then his phone rings and he jumps. He can't have it both ways; be annoyed that his phone isn't "talking" and then be annoyed because it's ringing.

I found out yesterday that a friend's puppy nipped/bit my mom on Friday.  It was an accident and the friend felt really bad, but I was a little annoyed that my mom didn't tell me.  I had noticed the marks on her arm, but didn't realize they were bite marks.

I still miss my dog. :wail:   Some of my favorite shows were about animals and now I can't bring myself to watch them.

I still need to check out that Joy Con and see if the same thing keeps happening.  I haven't had any problems with the new set acting up yet.

Anyone picking up Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door for Switch?  I missed the original but enjoyed Paper Mario Color Splash on Wii U a lot.

Pony Corral / Re: Is G4 a thing?

Regardless of all of those production experiments, I understand what Carrehz meant simply because G4 was a streamlined effort in both media and toy production. There's a difference between discovering a detail you never noticed before in an animated episode of a series, and trying to make sense of how seventeen different countries did completely their own things for reasons we're still trying to figure out.

Yes - you explained it better than I could :)

But also I was kind of including the show as well when I said most G4 info was neatly documented from the get-go - not to say there isn't still discussion to be derived from FiM (or the toyline!) - but like... for example... G1's "The Glass Princess" had a song cut out of it and the footage was missing for what... 30-odd years? before finally being rediscovered last year. and we still don't know why it was cut in the first place. There's no mysteries like that with G4, because everything was being archived, recorded, put online, etc the second it aired. The toyline was neatly streamlined and everyone was keeping track of the news, filing the info away, right away...

Which to be fair, as Taffeta pointed out, this applies to G3 and (more-or-less) G2 as well! The later gens are going to have less mysteries to generate discussion about because they were released in the Internet Era, in an age where everything (or most everything) has been put online and there's multiple communities working to collate the info... etc etc.

There's definitely still discussion to be had for the show, there always is for cartoons, but this forum's always been more focused on the toys so I guess that's a big part of why there's not much G4 talk. I mean, we don't really talk about the G1/G3 toons that often either

I have a feeling that Day Lilly had a weird release. Something about how her name is spelt reminds me. Pretty sure she was sold in Canada or something? Not quite remembering but I think she's the one I don't have because of that limited issue. Maybe she was also in the States in some places but there's something funny about her release, I'm sure. Maybe look into that.

I'm no G3 expert but I don't think any of the others are super rare.

Day Lily came with a balloon and Sweet Breeze and there was 1 specific shop chain that sold them over here in NL. In better days that shop had a lot of exclusive G3 stuff comparing to the regular toy shops. So yeah quite limited spread.
And some exclusives were also at UK ponycon assuming they were also sold over there. Snippity Snap is the most difficult to find and highly wanted.

That's interesting. I knew she had a very limited release (Day Lilly, I mean). I have quite a few of the sets sold over here with a Breezie companion, but I don't think that one got here. She's still the only one I'm missing iirc.

I knew about Snippety Snap, but that wasn't one of them in OP's post, so I didn't mention her. The only extra I ever had I gifted to someone, so I have no idea what kind of price she makes now anyway xD.

Now I'm even more late in the tread :drunk:

But why not, I think forums are a nice form for MLP. Other social media only live in the present. An eternal scroll down, and only the latest is visible immediately. I don't like it at all. Refuses to use Facebook, X or anything stupid like that.

Forums provide more proximity between users.

Really hope the forum form survives on the web. Although this form is outdated today. It is difficult to embed and display images. Not phone friendly.
But why play with the phone all the time? Live in the moment! Use quality time for the forum.

There are modern forums layouts too, but they cost a lot and are not easy to run yourself without paying a fortune every single month.

Really hope there is a basis of users for continuing the MLPArena. It's so nice to see the years go by, but the forum endures.

Thanks to all of you who work with the forum, you are amazing!
And thanks to all the users too, without you all it would die out.

:awake:

Same for here! To be honest it confused me, they haven't had a pony section in a long time.
At least we have the 5 pack!

Aren't those 3 like 2 years old? They look so familiar or it is a re-release of the mega movie friends.
