I think because selling platforms are more and more being geared toward professional resellers and businesses and not collectors just trying to reduce. The sellers don't care about the item, often just scouring thrift stores and yard sales for "vintage" items'. They're just trying to see how much $ they can get for as little effort and investment as possible.
It's not just G1 MLP. I've noticed this across everything I've been trying to find 2nd hand lately. I've received many items recenty that arrive covered in pets hair, dust, scratches, sticky, with odd smells, etc. that's not notated in the description or shown in the photos. I have to be so diligent about zooming in on every inch of the seller's photos to try to catch flaws. And several times when I've asked questions about things I get "I'm not a collector. Look at the photos." or vague "It's good used condition." as an answer.

A couple of the Walmarts in my area are closing out the Runway series of dolls. I picked up Amaye Rain even though I tried to stick to one doll per character.

It is Skyler in the prototype images that surfaced recently.
Congrats on Amaya. I keep looking at her in the stores. Her face is super pretty in the runway version.

There have been some good sales lately! I just got the townhouse 50% off at target and have seen several people posting about clearance from Walmart. Seems like they are preparing for the next wave.

New York Toy Fair is not happening this year (postponed until next year), but Nuremberg Toy Fair is happening right now, until February 3!
I haven't seen any news from there yet other than that Hasbro and Basic Fun are exhibiting and showcasing MLP. I'm hoping some images or news will surface soon.

Bettas are wonderful. I’ve had, I think, 7 males in my past fishkeeping. My last one I lost about 2 years ago and I haven’t kept a tank since. They are such fun little creatures. That blog you linked looks like pretty good advice. Be careful with a tank without a lid because some bettas can be jumpers! Though I’ve really only had that problem with short-finned females, myself. I, too, always preferred to pick out my bettas in person at the store. I’m sure you’ll find the perfect one once your tank is ready.

Reading Hasbro's investor reports and presentations is disheartening. They pretty much read like "This IP failed so we are abandoning it and focusing everything on the 2-3 brands we did have success with last year." They seem to be oblivious or purposely omitting taking responsibility on how they messed up MLP so badly and why it didn't carry on popularity. I'm hoping for a reboot in a few years and that they learn from their mistakes.

I do not like surprises and am very particular about what I buy, so I do not like blind packaged items at all. I'm thankful when there's something I want and it has codes imprinted on the package or color codes.

I utilize my library a lot for books and DVD. I refuse to pay for any streaming service, though I do have Amazon Prime and use the Amazon Video and Amazon Music that comes with that. But Amazon Video is implementing ads at the end of this month unless you pay an extra fee, which I won’t be doing, and I also refuse to watch ads so I won’t be using that service anymore once the ads are added in. I watch some things on YouTube (with an ad blocker).
I only really buy media if it’s not available at my library or it’s something that is an absolute favorite I know I will watch or listen to again and again. I did pick up a few dvds at a thrift store and library sale this last year because they were very cheap (like $1.50-$2.00) but I actually kind of regret it.
The only things I plan to buy from now is cds. My car is older and has a CD player and there’s some albums I consider favorites that I don’t own yet. Right now if I want to hear a specific song I’ll usually use YouTube but eventually there are some albums I’d like to own.
When it comes down to it I don’t consume massive amounts of media and for how much any streaming service costs I could buy 1-3 CDs/DVDs a month which is way more that I’d even want.
I currently keep the DVDs I own in a cabinet and watch them on our PS3. The CDs are in in a binder and I listen to them in my car but also occasionally on the PS3 as well. All the physical media for my household (books, video games, cds & dvds/Blu rays) are contained in an IKEA Billy bookcase with cabinet doors.

Not to be too serious if you don’t want to discuss but I read something once about the difference between a hoard and a collection that stuck with me.
It was: A collection is organized, clean, and every item has a place that doesn’t interfere with the function of the room it’s in. (I.e. if things are stacked up on a sofa and the sofa can no longer be used to sit on, etc.)
While i trend toward the opposite; throwing out things I probably should’ve kept, and not buying things I like because I get anxiety about whether the space they take up and upkeep is worth their usefulness, I find people’s relationship with spaces and “stuff” interesting. I like hearing about and seeing what other people collect.  ^.^
