Cutom Flutter Pony help

I got a very old Wind Song flutter pony and she missing her wings.  I want to make her into a custom, I was thinking an Egyptain theme.  Is there a way to remove the little button thing where the wings are?  And did anyone made custom Flutter Ponies before?

I have seen a few done, I know we have one really baity gal around here someplace.  I was planing on just cutting it off with a jewelers saw and the filling around and sanding smooth.  Not sure how much mechanism there is in there try and pry it out.  Hopefully someone who has done one can chime in with more information.
