Pony Brag Arena / My collection at college (Picture heavy)
« on: April 05, 2018, 06:02:36 AM »
This isn't anywhere near my full collection (Which is unfortunately shoved up in the attic at my grandparent's house in a small laundry basket, as they don't want me to "be seen with baby toys"...their words, not mine and I want to clean them all someday and display them, but I digress) But I do have a lot of ponies in my college dorm, and I thought I'd show them off! Note that most of the G1 ponies here came from a bait lot and are in less than fair condition.
The collection is put in spoilers, as it's kind of picture heavy
Spoiler
Before I start, I want to say that some pictures are vertical, while others are horizontal, and this is because my only 'good' camera is my 3DS, so I apologise

This is Gusty, who DOES have pink in her mane, but it's barely visible because the pink part is somewhat thin because of a slightly failed hair washing job bunching up the nylon. That's fine. She's got rust stains on her eyes, and I'm planning on cleaning that up as soon as I can get a hold of supplies

Speaking of rust stains, My poor Snuzzle has them, too that seeped into the tail. Snuzzle is one of my favorite G1 ponies. She's the only gray one in the first generation, and I think she's special <3

LemonDrop. Going to fill her holes with air dry clay as soon as I can, again, get a hold of supplies.

Completely bald Milky-Way I want to re-hair and attempt to re-paint her mark

G1 AppleJack. G1 AppleJack is one of my most favorite for the generation 1 ponies (Next to Snuzzle and Bow-Tie) because of her pose. Her color combination. She looks so...caring in a way. I love this pose so much.

Sunny Sparkles after a nice hair wash and dry overnight. Not sure what that black mark is on her leg.

G3 Pinkie Pie ornamemt in its box! Despite the box being dinged up, I think she looks great in it as a display, and I won't take her out of it any time soon.

Mcdonalds G3.5 Sweetie Belle. Oh, she could also probably use a good hair wash and brush.

Here's a small batch of Muffins for you all:

Big 'ol Fluttershy that you can style your hair with. If you're wondering, the drawer with the butterfly handle on it is holding a stray mini SD card that fell out of a broken adapter so it doesn't get lost.

Guardians of Harmony Twilight. Still don't understand the pinchy claws. I know it's for changeling capture(?) but It just looks...I dunno, kinda clunky.

GoH Changeling. I gave him a name, and his name is Cricket. <3

Blind box funko scootaloo. Would you believe me if I said I have 3 of these scootaloos from trying to get a chrysalis?(Which I never did)

Funko Cheese Sandwich. Not a huge fan of the black body "special" funko blind box figures. But I guess he's okay for what he is.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Funko Luna and Nightmare Moon. Funny thing, when I recieved Nightmare Moon, her horn had been seperatd from her head when I opened the box. It wasn't broken, it was more like nobody glued the horn in, so it was just there, but seperate.

The supah speedy cidah squeezy 6000!!...plus an extra flam because I bought 3 blind bag flimflam bros hoping to get one of each and I got an extra flam and gave him to this set before getting a normal flam for that set, so they're a trio.

Big funko Pinkie Pie

brushable pinkie pie I never tok out of her packaging and is therefore the most clean in my collection.

GoH Cheese Sandwich, who DOES have his cannon, but it's not with me at the moment.

And finally, two playskool tiny chunky plastic-y ponies, AppleJack and Cheerilee. These two are SO adorable. I like posing this applejack with my G1 applejack to pretend they're mother and daughter.
That's all I have in terms of non-fakie ponies, except two equestria girls minis (A Muffins and a Rainbow Dash who is missing a leg and got it for free by asking since they'd just have to return it anyway.) and a G4 Twilight bank who I think lost the stopper, so If I tried to take a picture of her, the change might fall out.

Okay. To clear up some things first: Pindot, also called smooze, is dirt that has managed to get itself into the pores in the vinyl. Age spots (cancer can be insensitive) are cause by either conditions causing the plastic to deteriorate or mold. They look like brown circles on the body. They are not the same thing. Pindot all over is not age spots :) It looks like your pony does not have age spots anyway :)

You can remove the pindot by first heating up the vinyl with hot water. You can use a running sink or dunk her in a bowl if you want. Make sure the vinyl is nice and squishy, and start scraping! Some people also add soap. It may take a while, and you may need to keep reheating the vinyl, but you'll get there ;)

As for the holes, like others have suggested, you should probably use clay and paint over it. Also, if you don't want to tackle that, you may want to buy some ponywear for her or sew your own! Just be careful it doesn't stain if you do decide to.

Vinyl can withstand heat. A hairdryer won't hurt it :) Pony nylon can melt though, so be careful.

This is a good site if you want to do some more research: http://www.mlppreservationproject.com

OOOH! I'm sorry about not calling it age spots ^^" I knew there was another name for it, but I forgot what it was... My bad, I apologise.
Yeah, then this definetely is pindot. Thanks for the tips! Unfortunately, there's not much I can do at my college dorm, but I'll keep this reply bookmarked (Or maybe I'll just copy it into my notepad), and soak her in hot water whenever I get back home.
Definetely bookmarking the site you've linked! Thanks!

and use a hair dryer to set it.

That won't melt the legs? Or was that hair I was thinking of that melts when you expose it to a hair dryer?

Actually it looks more like a cat was chewing on her. One of my cats got a hold of a pony. He chewed on it and left very similar marks. The pony my cat got a hold of was a G3 so the marks weren't as deep, but they still look the same.
Awh, that's a shame. Hope your chewed G3 pony is alright now.

Hmm...you might try patching them up with air-dry clay, provided you're comfortable with color-matching paint to fit her body so you can cover them up after they dry!

That's a good idea! I really hope my local craft store has at least a very similar shade of yellow. If not, I guess experimenting with mixing yellow and white might work. I'll try that.
I might need to do that after I get a hold of some vinnegar for the pindot/cancer, (I've forgotten the difference, but I'd assume pindot ALL over the body is considered cancer.), so as to not mess with the clay.

Welcome to the Arena! Restoring ponies is so much fun :) Oh, and poor Lemondrop! Also, if you are on a budget, thrift stores and places like Craigslist are great places to find cheap ponies ;) Glad you joined, I look forward to seeing you around!

Ah, thanks! I love looking in thrift stores. Funny story, I REALLY wanted a G1 surprise once and couldn't find one on ebay for a moderate price except a baby. The baby arrived in the mail, and, I'm not kidding, the day later we went to a thrift store and right on the shelf was an adult Surprise.

This is my G1 Lemondrop I got from a lot I bought from ebay as a bait. She had pindot (Which I heard can be reduced with vinnegar), but Is there anything I can do about the puncture holes in her legs and cheeks? I guess the previous owner's bird must've gotten into it, poor baby.

OH wow I love fakies! I have tons, but unfotunately, not any that are too interesting. Most are just g3 mold fakes.
I DO, however have a Totsy pony! Her hair was cut before I got her, and unfortunately she's a bit worse for the wear, but I love her nonetheless. I call her Peach Shine. Gotta love that smirk all totsys have <3

Hi! I'm Mewthemew, and you can call me Mew if you want. I'm currently 21 and I've been collecting since 2012 during the height of the G4 craze. I love ALL MLP and recently took an interest in trying to restore baits (Well, to the best I can. I have a Gen 1 LemonDrops who has holes in her legs because aparently her previous owner's bird got a hold of it. Poor baby.)
I joined with my friend ThePoneZone (Some people call them Shrubby.) so we can both talk about collectors and collecting, and all around pony dolls!
One of my biggest wishes for my collection is a genuine Takara pony, but that's not going to happen in a VERY long time.

I unfortunately don't really have a lot of money to spend on ponies and accessories, so I can only look, but I can't wait to see what I can find from all of you on this site.
