Title: Looking for similar hair texture to that one site...?
Post by: EmeraldEyesPhoenix on January 04, 2022, 01:12:02 AM
I want to get into doing custom ponies and dolls again, and I know about the situation with d*llyhair.

BUT.

I really liked the texture of their hair. I've tried some other sites, but I've found it to be more...slick? Like, it's dry but is also very soft and makes wonderful straight hair customs.

Buuut... I've done enough customs to want to be picky. I liked how d*llyhair's felt like Hasbro or Mattel's hair.

I won't buy from them ever again, for sure. I just want to know if anyone has used some alternatives.

I'm looking for a red that'll work for an Undyne from Undertale custom, but'll complement the Lagoona-Fire or Fresh-Water Lagoona from Monster High skin tone.

What have you already tried? Shimmerlocks (https://shimmerlocks.com/index.php?route=product/catalog) has hair that's pretty much exactly like DH. I also really like DG-HQ hair from The Doll Planet (https://www.etsy.com/shop/thedollplanethair).

There's also HQHair from HQG1C , (disclaimer: I'm on the team) but it does not have a super wide range of colors yet. It does have a good amount of hair for a low price though if it was something you wanted to just test out to see how the feel is. It is my opinion that most of the colors are exactly the same except for the...candy apple red (Or whatever they were calling baby Krispy Christmas color) curl equivalent which is polypropylene instead of nylon.

(Also, didn't the DH issue resolve when the owner passed away of cancer and now it is in the hands of someone completely else?)

Eh, depends on who you ask. I certainly don't shop there anymore.
