Paypal payment request cancelled 7 years later?

Hi ponies,

I got an email from paypal today saying that a money request I sent 7 years ago has been cancelled 

I have never come across this before in all the time I have had a paypal account. what does this mean? has the money gone back to the person who I requested it from? I can't see that a refund has been issued?

It sounds like you requested money from someone at some point and they never paid (most likely there was a glitch somewhere or it was a duplicate request) so it's probably been sitting in limbo in their account and they just deleted it to clean it out.  No money goes anywhere, it's basically just like.. the decline of an invoice that you sent, so there shouldn't be any money moving around.

You might be able to confirm that by looking to see any transactions you've had with that person in the past?

After much digging in my paper work, paypal and other records, I never got payment from her. From looking at my records it looks like the transaction was never completed on my part either at her request.

I think she requested a paypal invoice for how much it would be to fix up three flutters for her, but the decided against sending me the ponies for some reason. I'm sure I cancelled the invoice at the time, but it was seven years ago, my memory is hazy.

No harm done I guess, just bizarre!

  *blink blink*  How strange that Paypal left it so long   Anyways , yep its been explained what happened. Glad you figured out what the transaction was too! I must admit I dont think I can remember many (if any)  of my transactions from 2007
