Sparkle/Glitter Ponies - which set do you prefer and why?

The G1 Sparkle ponies are my favorite set, but I can never decide if I prefer the Mail Order or store-bought versions! It's all about the glitter, I never outgrew the childish glee of having glitter all over everything. I liked the G3 ponies at first, but I got rid of them because the plastic started breaking down so quickly. I have many of the G4 glittery blind bags, but G4 can never compare to G1 for me.

I turn to the internet for opinions!

I set the poll up so you can choose two for people like me who can't decide.

Sparkle Babies and MO Sparkle Ponies! Particularly Babies Gusty, North Star, MOs Starhopper, Sky Rocket, Napper, and Twinkler.

The Divine Shines are pretty girls, but its not worth putting up with their problems.

The G4s blindbags are just so-so.

The G4 blindbags. I sadly do not like that gimmick at all. They age poorly and, in my opinion, look rather tacky. The blindbags are fairly cute, though.

I like the mail order and the babies best.  Mostly, I prefer the mail order ponies for Napper’s green hair. She’s so pretty.


I also like blind bag ponies in general.  It’s so satisfying arranging them by pose and colors.

It’s sad to hear about the Divine Shine ponies breaking down.  They are also very pretty.

Otherwise, I have a hard time choosing between MO and the regular release. I prefer Napper in the MO release, but I think I like Star Hopper better with yellow hair.

It would definitely be one of the 1989 sets. I guess because I live in the UK, and we didn't get the Mail Orders, it should be the regular store-sold set. Though Space Hopper was often drawn in the comic with white hair...lol

I missed you could vote twice. I voted for the mail orders, but my second vote would have been for the Argies. I prefer mail order Napper and Star Hopper to the regular releases and the Argie sparkle ponies are mostly orange, which is love <3

it's sad how the G1s degrade over time.  some of them turn really funky colours and not in a good way!

Honestly, none I just don't like how the gimmick looks, and then there's their aging issues...

The G4 blind bags aren't too bad though

The G1 shop set wins!!! Never had the mail orders or the babies, the G4s were just 2 & 1 was a Mane Six, & the Divine Shines have that issue with when they age. Blind bags are, well, blind bags & I'm not the biggest fan

I was so excited when the g3 glitters came out, but alas, the plasticiser leak destroyed the glitter on them all. I can't go past the g1 glitter babies. I adore g1 babies, theres just something about them, and adding glitter to the mix... omg. however OG Star Hopper was amoungst my first MLP's, so that set holds a place in my heart as well.

G1 mail orders! I love G1s and these have the cute tiny symbol on their cheeks. Plus, I prefer Star Hopper with white hair.

I've never heard  of the Brillitos before

I can't decide between the first g1 set or the mail order g1 set.

They have such pretty colours in between them. I just need m.o Star hopper and regular Napper.
