Pony Corral / Re: How do you color in MLP coloring books?
« on: March 03, 2020, 04:33:38 PM »
This topic reminds me that I need to get that G1 retro coloring book. :D  I have a custom MLP coloring book that Gothic Sugar made. I make copies of the pages and then color them.  I try to color the ponies accurately.

An issue I found with the Bendon coloring books is the ink tends to rub off of the back of whatever you're coloring and transfers to the page its touching. Not a huge issue when there's a page of activities with a page of coloring but VERY annoying when it's majority coloring.
When I go on vacation to the beach for a week I take one coloring book. This is from when I grabbed a book from Walmart because I didn't have any on me!

I've noticed this too. I have a Bendon Strawberry Shortcake book and when I was finished the ink had rubbed off on the blank piece of paper that I had behind the page I was working on.

Same! Only with Bendon for some reason. Maybe cheap ink?
What I do is put a piece of blank printer paper behind the sheet I'm coloring, to absorb the ink so it doesn't transfer onto the next page. It works pretty well.

I bought tickets for it! Third row!

Although, what kinda costumes will they use?? Something similar to Biggest Tea Party? Or something new?? I know G4 costumes exist, but they're kinda awkward....

I literally only need Mew to complete the Pokedex. I've heard conflicting reports if you can trade her back and forth or not between games. If so, can anyone trade with me and I'll trade immediately back just for Pokedex completing purposes??

I love this entire set, especially Butter Pop! My Aunt got me her and Party Cake one Christmas as a kid (she passed away one year ago) and it reminds me of her very much! As for me, I love Popcorn so of course this girl is a win for me!

She was my second pony ever, and I clearly remember picking her out at Toys R Us with my cousin, who got her first two ponies, Twinkle Twirl and Strawberry Swirl!

Pony Corral / I have the best mom ever! (Repinking tutorial!!)
« on: October 04, 2018, 03:20:34 PM »
I bought Petal Pink Rit Liquid Dye at the craft store, meaning to dye my ponies sometime this week, and I came home from work today and my mom surprised me and did it for me! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

I'm gonna tell and show you guys how she did it. Keep in mind- my mom has been a hairdresser for 40 years so had some different materials than most people have access to.

Materials:

Liquid Rit Dye in Petal Pink
Color bowl and color brush (these are hairdresser’s supplies, so if you can’t get one easily I’m sure some other paintbrush and plastic bowl will help, but be careful as it will stain them)
Mascara wand (a clean one!)
Plastic gloves (so you won’t get dye your hands!)
Hot water (my mom heated it up with a keurig)
Tinfoil (to lay them down on after you dye them)
And lastly…ponies that you want to repink!

So what she said she did was that she made 8oz of hot water out of the keurig and put two dime-sized amounts of Rit Dye in the color bowl. She then used the color brush to carefully brush the dye onto them, and when she got near the roots, she switched out her brush to the mascara wand to get the roots done without getting dye on them. She had acetone and q tips available just in case of a spill, but she didn’t need them!

She first started with G3 Pinkie and G1 Up, Up, and Away to make them a darker pink (I know they aren’t supposed to be this dark, but she thought they would look good darker since their dark bodies would contrast, because the water was still hot, making the dye stronger. I think it was a great idea! As the water cooled, the dye color became lighter, so she did the lighter ponies like Desert Rose.

She then laid them down onto tinfoil with their hair spread out away from their bodies to dry and so the dye wouldn’t get onto their bodies. How cute is she modeling how she did all this for you guys!

We based our technique on an old archived one from the Arena!

I just wanted to share! My ponies are so happy!

@ariana how much for the glitter pinky pie?

The one with glitter on her legs? I was thinking $3.
