I discovered a "new" G3 at thrift yesterday... A purple Pegasus with a butterfly cutie mark.  Of course grabbed her because Pegasus, but ya, new to me!  Love it!

This will probably never happen with G4.  :(

Oh well.  Love "new" ponies!

As an '80s kid, I didn't pay much attention to some older year ponies.. Like, the last two years.. I remember vaguely seeing some in stores as a kid and was like meh.. LOL  Also, at the beginning when I started to collect again, I learned about the flutter ponies..

G1 Nirvanas and country exclusives still surprise me. :)

I'm a strictly G1 collector, so every now and then I'll discover the name of a G3 or 4..just learned who Pinkie Pie, Rarity and Twilight Sparkle were last year!

Back when I was a kid, I had one Twinkle Eyed pony and that was Sweet Stuff. I'd never seen another TE pony throughout my childhood, and since my Sweet Stuff came from the Salvation Army I never saw her packaging or anything. However, since I grew up the cartoons, I figured Masquerade, Fizzy, etc... must exist. Jump forward to when I became interested in MLP again, maybe 8 years ago. I was stunned to discover there are 15 different TE ponies.

Similarly, I never knew there were second sets of both Princess ponies and So Soft ponies until my renewed interest in MLP.

Sweet Stuff is a good TE pony to have!  ;)

Like many, as a kid I only knew the ponies I had.  Later, as a collector, I could recognize ponies that looked similar to *my* ponies but the um...  Unusual ponies (Sweetheart sister, bride) were an interesting discover.  :)

Because she was so unique to me, she was my favorite.

Almost every single G3 I come across "in the wild" is new to me. But it doesn't help that I quickly forget most of them soon after discovery! G1 is a different story, since I usually only find really common ones in person. I've only been collecting since 2011, but I think I have a firm grasp on the widely released G1s. UK Exclusives still do surprise me though, as do most Nirvanas. A recent discovery was Nightlight, I love her blue!
