I used two 32 oz 3% peroxide bottles and two cups of water to mildly dilute it. (Make sure it's brand new peroxide, not expired.) I put it in a plastic storage container then covered it with plastic wrap and closed it with rubber bands. She probably only has another 4 days in the sun to be perfect. Maybe a little more since she has sharpie on the bottom of one foot. It's almost gone as well, though. Sunfading on steroids!

The sun here is hit and miss and doesn't stay on the porch all day. Of course today it has to be raining, too..
You can put hair and symbols in peroxide but I cover them to prevent them from fading. The painter's tape is of course SOAKING wet but since it's dark it'll protect her paint and hair. If you have bright sun, it's definitely worth a shot. (Be careful with chartreuse hair and glitter symbols as usual and keep away from TEs) Had I left her in the sun much longer without the peroxide, she would've severely sunburned but the peroxide seems to have reversed it..At least visually. She had a cancer spot on her front leg where the mold spot is that seems to have whitened as well. It's still there inside the plastic and if you were to leave a peroxide faded pony with age spots/cancer in the sun without being in peroxide, there's a chance the spots will return. But if you're not planning to leave your pony outside for some reason, this seems to be a good option.  :)

Edited bottle size, whoops.

...I could honestly give it a shot for you if you'd like. It can't get worse but I don't know how much it'll do.
I have a ton of ponies sunfading, so one more wouldn't be a problem. :P

I <3 Sunfading and all the before and after photos!
Will sunfading work on ponies who have a head and body mismatch?

It did for me.  Majesty had a mismatch.  I stuck her body in one of DD's socks, tape over the eyes, foil on the hair.  Matching Majesty again.  :)  Must try the paint idea on Mom Apple.

I'm testing this out right now. So far normal sunfading hasn't matched them, but maybe once she gets into the peroxide I'll see some changes.

So you can't put hair in peroxide??
How long do you leave it in the sun/jar?
Hair has a tendency to dry out in peroxide.
*You really have to watch ponies when you go this process for whitening. No TE's. No idea what it does to tinsel. Glitter symbols will lose glitter. Some eyes will fade and so well symbols if left uncovered.
*Most of us that use h202 use ponies in that we're not afraid if they're damaged.
There are some amazing results.
**I think someone had had hair color change (believe it was a pony with the same color hair as sugarberry, it faded out to yellow shade).
This is a relatively new restoration process (discovered a year or so ago?).

As Chi has stated she's had whitening happen in only a few days.

After 3 days in the sun there was no change in Rosedust's ink marks. Any ideas why?
should be perma-moderated

ink takes a LOT longer than 3 days especially if its not sunny in your area.
i live in souther california and its sunny all the time and ink usually takes about 4-6 weeks, especially marker. ball point pen doesnt take as long tho

but i dont use peroxide so if youre using that mabybe it would be different

I've been working on a MO Skyrocket for 8 months, she had blue pen allover her. It really takes time and changing the position of the pony to make sure you get it all. She still has blue pen under her chin and she's been upside down in the sun for 2 months!
I had some pink spots on strawberry surprise that faded out in a month! It all depends on what the mark is...

I had a question about sun fading a pony & figured I'd bump this already helpful thread instead of starting my own...
I recently bought a birth flower pony and she's sorta yellow. Has anyone had problems with them "tanning?" If not, I really wanna get her in the window!  :)
