Hello everyone,
I recently acquired tic tac toe and salty. I already had baby tic tac toe and they quickly became a new pony family in my herd. I also have trickles and posey, who are cousins to me due to their similair colours and pose, which can aslo be a factor in pony families.
In my herd, majesty and moondancer are the moms to my custom country boy.
This got me thinking, who do you think is family in your herd?
Biological doesn't have to be a factor here. Family is family no matter what.

Bow Tie, French Bow Tie (custom that I haven’t done yet) are married, Baby Bow Tie, French Baby Bow Tie (custom) are sisters
Sweet Celebrations are a family (only got brother and sister)
Princess Misty is the sister of Princess Sparkle and that means their babies are cousins.

So for me it's colours and themes mostly.
My families are
Slugger & Milky Way adopted the newborn twins Sniffles and Snookums.
Pony Bride came with Uk activity club blank baby and Baby Bridesmaid, adopted teeny tiny baby Whiskers a while after arriving.
Steamer has taken on a 'big brother' role with Clipper.
Love Letter has adopted Baby Fun n Games.
Baby Halfnote and alternative February Violet could become a family.
For a short while Sand Digger was looking into adopting Baby Pineapple, but she realised it wasn't for her.
G3 Sunshower is Sweetberry's and Star Catcher's daughter from the future.
For the toys in general
I think Fluttershy's lineage is Posey, Sky Skimmer, ? then Fluttershy.
Light Heart's daughter is Sunny Daze.
G1 Minty's daughter is G2 Spring.
The two different G2 Seabreeze's and Flash are siblings, maybe The Seabreeze's are twins and Flash is their younger sibling.
Princess Fuchsia and Her Majesty Great Romance are probably siblings, or a mother and daughter deal.
Curly and Lily are too similar to ignore, but then that'd leave Rose out despite the fact they're twins.
Also Precious, Miss Teacher and Springdy are very similar colour wise to Curly so maybe they're related.
If I'd have to theorise, I think Sunny is Precious's daughter and Miss Teacher is her sister while Curly and Springdy are sisters to each other and cousins to the other two.
Nightshine is the mother to twins Rumba and Sumba.
Royalette and Crowning Glory are twins.

I'll probably remember more throughout the day and come back to update, but off the top of my head, Tiddlywinks had the same color scheme as Lickety Split, so she and Baby Lickety Split were sisters in a family with Lickety Split and Posey as their parents. Yes, our Posey was a guy! We re-gendered several of our ponies because this was before male ponies were available, and we needed boy ponies for some of our storylines. Our version of Posey was probably the most charismatic pony in our herd!
I had Baby Dangles, but she seemed kind of random and didn't fit in anywhere (maybe because all our other newborns were twins and she was a random single), so we gave her to the white and blue Fifi that came with the Perm Shoppe since she was the same color. She had curly hair, so we pretended that Fifi had permed her child's hair and kept her in a pen at the Shoppe to try to sell perms. I think there were also some child-labor themes along that line of play too, because I remember some of the other baby ponies sneaking into the Perm Shoppe to free her from her pen. :brow:
Of course anytime we had duplicates of any pony, they were siblings or family.

I don't have a ton, but TaF Buttons and Tootsie are definitely sisters or at least cousins. I think Angel and Blueberry Baskets could be sisters, too.

To me Buttons and Bangles are sisters due to their almost identical coloring.
Yes! I owned both of them and that is how I played with them. For some reason, I made Bangles the older sister. And not only do they have identical coloring, both their names start with "B" and are two syllables, so that works in their favor of being related too!

Since I heard of UK/Euro Bangles (the Hairdo Pony) before US Bangles, I call the latter Bracelet, & look at how much I agree wi all this in the unicorn part of my list!!!

Rosedust is the older sister of Little Flitter.
Applejack and Heartthrob are the parents of Baby Heartthrob.
Moondancer and Moonstone are a couple: their children include Baby Moondancer, Baby Glory, Baby Paws and two ballerina ponies.
My fave ballerina pony Baby Tippytoes is the daughter of Posey Rose (who I don't actually own! Maybe one day.)
All the Ribbon and Bow Tie ponies (including Nirvanas) are related, and they run a business making and selling tail ribbons.
The Princess ponies are Majesty's daughters, nieces etc.
Making pony families is fun :)

I love everyone's families here and ESPECIALLY love the drawings and photos, omg!
I had a lot of pony families as a kid, my main one was G1 Tex (father), G3 Royal Bouquet (mother), and babies were Tic Tac Toe, Lucky, Doodles, Noodles, Big Top, & Toppy. Idk why, as a kid, lol.
As an adult I kinda retconned that, lol... Sorry Tex's family! His new family is G1 Tex, his wife is FS G4 Applejack (with the forelock), and their kid is Applebloom. Big Mac is the uncle, and Lucky is their nephew they took in. (i dont really follow or care about the G4 lore so my Applebloom is G4 Applejack's kid, lol!)
I also like to think of G3 Royal Bouquet and Gem Blossom as sisters. And as a kid, G3 Sweetiebelle was Honolulu's mother, I don't really still see it that way now lol, a lot of my pony families have kind of changed growing up. Also, G3 Bowtie and Frilly Frocks as sisters.
Right now though...
Just admiring how cute of a couple Nightglider and Ice Crystal make. Ahhh. Omg. >_> Both my fave ponies honestly thus far. Make have to make some rando baby custom someday called Iceglider, tie both their color schemes and themes into it...

I don't usually like to imagine ponies forming conventional families (except for the MLPT universe), I prefer to see them as living in communal herds or something like that.

Truly is mom to Puddles and Peeks
Glory and Moondancer are siblings or a couple. Haven't really decided yet because I cannot decide if Glory is a male or female. Baby Glory was always a boy in my childhood herd. He was twin to my cousin's Baby Moondancer.
Pepperjack (HQG1c) and Munchy are a pair.
Sherbet and Thundercloud are related, likely siblings.

Prince Firefly and Princess Crystal are siblings, maybe even twins. Dragonfly might be related but I see her as a romantic interest with Firefly, competing with Sky Skimmer.
Sky Skimmer isn't Fleurs mother, maybe a cousin deal or a guardian.

Fifi (custom), and Unicorn Fifi (custom seeing as I can’t get my hands on her), are sisters making Baby Fifi, and Unicorn Baby Fifi (custom) are cousins

Lemon Drop and Italian Lemon Drop (custom) are married making their children siblings.
Chief (haven’t got yet) and Ringlets (Custom because I don’t like the brush n grow version) are married and have Baby Ringlets, and Baby Chief as siblings.
Sweet Stuff and Pinkie Pie (G1 Twinkleeyed custom that I’m going to do as soon as I get another Sweet Stuff), are sisters making their children cousins

Spike and the other dragons are cousins

In my herd, i assign parents to the baby ponies with no 'mom pony' (or if i don't have theirs yet i give them 'aunts') it's fun!
glider and noddins are with powder, glory is with gusty (her and moondancer are totally sisters and we all know glory and moondancer are married), bouncy is with bubbles, apple delight is with applejack, half note is with bow tie, and lucky and noodles are with blue belle (who needs to go in for sunfading BADLY)

G3 Applejack is a boy in my herd. He fell pretty hard for Autumn Harvest. It didn't take long for him to win her shy heart. About 10 years ago, me and my kids threw them a big wedding! The kids still remember it to this day :)

I never thought about the relationships between ponies until recently; I had Fancy Flora, Meadowbrook, and Tea Lily sitting next to each other. I think of them as a family now. :) Mistletoe and Candy Cane are sisters for me, too. Those are the only two examples I can remember right now, haha. And Honoluloo being Star Catcher's daughter is an obvious one.
